Users / Re: Android mobile orbiter Help??
« on: November 17, 2013, 09:39:42 pm »
i am not sure if something is there already.  i have tried running all installation instructions for both the qorbiter and android orbiter hoping something would work.  i will delete the one dir, and run the first mentioned command and see what happens.  as far as posting in one place are you meaning not posting multiple things under users?  sorry for any confusion.

unfortunately i have followed all the steps on the orbiter pages, and ran all sudo commands via terminal.  i also have a fresh 1004 install.  i am apparently missing something......errrrrr.  Here is myconfix.xml settings for my galaxy s3.  the only thing i have changed in this file the device id line from 1 to 42.

here is the error i get when opening the qorbiter app on my phone

im sorry i couldnt connect to a linuxmce server at 192.168.80.1 please ensure you can reach your core.  I will continue trying.

yeah mike i seen that reading some pages yesterday and i am wondering why it still trys to pull updates for it because the only thing that i entered is the sudo apt-get update line and then my password.  Everything else was generated txt from the command running.  i will try your tip thanks.  will the update via terminal also update the security and bug fixes for the kde desktop?

« on: October 17, 2013, 04:20:13 am »
unfortunately re-running the av-wizard has not allowed me to switch from vga to pick up my hdmi cable.  i know it works on my tv because i originally installed it using my tv but a friend advised me to re-install with a pc monitor because of resolution issues so i did and now i cant switch back to tv.  if i boot with tv hooked up i see the pc start and then a bunch of lines of txt then nothing even after trying the 12345 and qwert options.  i do not have any orbiters set up yet.  im in process of getting one going on my android but i am unsecessful as of yet.  my phone just keeps trying to connect to the default ip which is correct but wont connect.

How do i switch from vga to hdmi?  the 12345 or qwerty options do not work on avwizard.  i originally installed mce on my flat screen but a friend said to install it on a pc monitor first.  so i re-installed using a monitor and i want to switch video display back to the tv.  when i plug in the hdmi cable to the tv i can see mce start to boot but after all the lines of txt i have nothing.  i have tried all of the options from the avwizard and i get nothing.  also i am not able to install any updates bug fixes or security update via sudo apt-get update or from kde desktop.

i have tried the usr/pluto/bin/RebootWithAVWizard.sh with no success.  when i hold shift it brings me to the menu listed below

ubuntu, with linux 2.6.32-45-generic
ubuntu, with linux 2.6.32-45-generic (recovery mode)
memory test bla bla
memery test bla bla bla

then says move up or down and enter to boot, e to edit, and c for command line but it only takes me to grub command line which is where i have types the above usr that you suggested.

my graphics card is nvidia with hdmi, vga and i think hdmi with sound but either way still having problems. any suggestions with that info?  thanks a bunch.  in the mean time i will try the RUN_CONFIG option.

mce is fully installed and works when on computer screen.  i initially sintalled while using the same tv but reinstalled for reasons and used a computer monitor. now i want back on my hd tv.  i have tried editing in orbitor, but nothing happens when i click av settings or whatever it says,  no command lines work to rerun av wizard.  when i boot from tv i see the initial booting seq. but then nothing.  i have also tried selecting the av option on mce while plugged into monitor and when it reboots i switch back to hdmi, and only see the dell, boot screen.

Users / Re: are kubuntu updates still present after mce installation?
« on: February 14, 2013, 01:21:28 am »
Yes i am wanting the use of MCE, and yes it was from an iso image.  I am aware of the fact that mce runs on kubuntu, but with several failed attempts to update i was just trying to figure out a way to get the kubuntu software updated.  I have installed kubuntu (i guess its 8.10, thats what it says when i run the sudo to verify the version) and tried installing updates and the programs that will allow all the media to be saved but i am unable to get them to download.  Yes internet is working.

Users / are kubuntu updates still present after mce installation?
« on: February 13, 2013, 02:04:28 am »
ok, so i downloaded and installed kubuntu 12.4 and ran all the sudo updates and everything went fine.  I then did the initial install of mce version 8.10 and my kde now shows ubuntu version 8.10 and the GUI is completly different.  MCE is NOT installed yet but on the desktop ready to be installed, so should the appearence have changed after just doing part 1 of the mce install?   The task bar shows an update available for kubuntu 9.4 but will not let me download or run from sudo command.  Why is it showing me an upgrade for an older version?? My other question is are all of the updates that i ran after initial install still there?
