2  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Installation LinuxMCE 10.04 in Virtual Box on: November 27, 2012, 02:41:58 pm
I have successfully installed VirtualBox 4.2.4 as per Wiki instructions  with 1 NIC card ...>>http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Installing_LinuxMCE_on_Virtual_Machine_via_VirtualBox

Then I installed LinuxMCE as per Wiki chapter

 "----------------
Installing LinuxMCE

1 Start your VBox and boot the DVD
2 Follow the instructions. Sit back and have another beer Smiley
"---------------

At this stage I have an issue in the Disk Setup PREPARE THE DISK SPACE

In the wiki page , it is not mentionned how to partition the disk
   -  Should I erase the entire disk .. I start to be scary
        -  Specify partition manually

Note : virtual Box was created with 50GB space allocation as per this wiki page

Argh ...  I need to re-install as the azerty keybord is not set up correctly (no - , !! ) so i could only run lspci command without parameters :
The output fot the Nvidia driver is : VGA compatible driver : nVidia Corporation G96 GeForce GT 130M rev a1

I will try to re-install asap to fix this keyboard issue

MODIFY #1 : The proper keyboard version has been installed OK

The output of lspci -nn | grep VGA is : 01:00.0 VGA compatible controler [0300] : NVIDIA Corporation G96 [Geforce GT 130M] [10de:0652] ( rev a1 )
The networking is OK as the wget command succeeded

MODIFY #2 : Next is to perform the remaining requested actions

- Sudo commands performed = OK ( wget , cp , mount , chmod , umount )
- Boot by hard reset = OK
- Init sequence stopped  after starting Asterix = NOK

I have installed the latest snapshot 10.04 available dated 22/10  , Revision 26592

- The Kubuntu install ran fine  on Hybrid PC configuration ( Core+MD)
- Then the System rebooted as per procedure
- The AV Wizard was not yet started ( I assumed )  but the  full screen was  blinking right after ...  white , red , blue , green red and so and so .

The septup of the 3 wizards was fine with the Beta.1  DVD

MODIFY : I made a new fresh install  and before to get the blinking full screen  as described before ,  there was a printout on the screen during the reboot sequence saying that XORG was missing (/etc/xorg/conf ) and that next screen will be AVWizard
Unfortunately , the terminal is not accessible to get the log

Ok thanks , Downloading the latest snapshot dated sept 9 , 2012 ,  .. in parallel , reading the Wiki
Then I will install LinuxMCE  as an Hybrid application/HW  with RJ45 connection  on my ASUS+Intel Core Duo + NVidia Laptop

9  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Sudo Password problem - Beta.1 10.04 on: October 22, 2012, 01:19:15 pm
Thanks l3mce for your reply.

The setup I choosed was to load the Hybrid one ( Core+MD) but to make it more simple I will make a new fresh install with RJ45 connection to the ADSL box and with the Core component only ( No MD as I am more focusing on Home automation and videosurveillance).

I will update then this subject .
10  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Installation Beta 10.04 (Oct 22) on: October 22, 2012, 12:32:58 pm
Hello LinuxMCE community ,

To test this LinuxMCE application , I have just installed successfully the DVD "10.4 Beta.1" with Core+MD components
Now I have to see about my  Wi-Fi interface problem but I am stuck with "sudo iwconfig" command where the password provided is refused .

I have provided the password setup during the installation procedure ( user account )

Any advice ?

MODIFY : Password issue closed after re-install and setup correctly the password but the installation issue is still present .
