Users / Re: Asterisk + TDM800p + 8.10 configuration
« on: May 03, 2012, 06:08:52 pm »
Just an update on this configuration. I first wanted to verify if the card works since it has be laying around for sometime. Installed the latest PBX in Flash (purple) and the card does not work out of the box. The DAHDI configuration files had to be generated and then asterisk was able to pick up the various channels on the port. I had supplied additional power to the card as required for FXS's port to show up.

Created a trunk with the right channel into which the POTS is plugged in. Was able to make outgoing calls. Tried numerous configs but could NOT get incoming to work

Out of curiosity I plugged the card back in to LMCE 8.10. The version of asterisk uses Zaptel (renamed to DAHDI in new releases due to trademark concerns). apt-get install zaptel installed the package. There are some binaries that check for the card and builds configuration files. Had to get some sample configuration off the Internet to have a complete set of files.

Created trunks in the FreePBX GUI (Advanced-->Configuration-->Phone Setup) and was able to make outgoing calls. Incoming was NOT successful as with PBX in Flash. The only difference between the two setups was I had a lot of echo in LMCE. In LMCE I was not able to get power to the card. Will purchase a connector to extend power to the card to see if the echo goes away.

I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to get incoming calls without success. On the asterisk CLI I don't see anything when i try calling from my cell. I am using Comcast Digital Voice. Any insights will be appreciated.

I used the following website for reference (http://www.cadvision.com/blanchas/Asterisk/). Refer to the zaptel how-to.

Hello Everyone,
I have an Insteon PLM and light dimmer successfully installed and functioning. Decided to get a Skylink Insteon Motion Sensor (2420M) in the mix. Followed the manual to ensure it is software controllable and linked to the PLM.

Was hoping it would get automatically detected. Since it was not detected, i added a "Motion Sensor" template manually and gave the Insteon address (14.BC.30) in the "Port/Channel Number" field. In the PLM logs i can see the address of sensor show up. On tripping the sensor there are a bunch of logs that scroll by.

On the core's on screen orbiter, under Pending Tasks i can see its downloading "General Info Plugin". After router reload the devices seems deleted from the core.

Any thoughts on this behavior? I did see a post from 2009 but there was no resolution mentioned other than contacting someone. I am attaching the PLM logs. Sensor address is 14.BC.30. Unfortunately I am not conversant with the reading the logs, hopefully will pick it up soon.

Users / SOLVED: 8.10 + SqueezeBox + Cant play audio via LMCE

posde,
After your post, I took a closer look all my devices and found the issue. Your were right. While I was testing PXE Boot of a MD, I had assigned it to the kitchen. Even though the MD was a temporary test unit and not there anymore, it was in the devices list mapped to the kitchen. That solves the mystery. Appreciate your input. Thanks!

I do not have any devices in the kitchen. I had first installed the squeezebox in the office. When I started to play audio, it started on my core. It made sense that only one device is allowed since Audio is a generic button. Moved it to the kitchen by deleting it numerous times. I may have goofed up some where I guess.

Intially I thought it was because of my setup with eth0 and eth0.80. Using a single interface with VLAN tagging and eth0.80 being the internal network. I added another NIC and it still did not work.

Finally moving it to garage worked. So now I am back to using one NIC with vlan tagging and alls well so far. Have rebooted the core as well as the squeezebox and it works. Thanks!

The top right hand corner always shows "Squeezebox Radio". There is no other option in the drop down list.

I took wired traces and I can see the Slimdevice messages go by. I had deleted the device numerous times in the past. This time I deleted the device and added it to the Garage as opposed to the Kitchen. To my amazement it started to work. Not sure what was wrong setting it in the Kitchen. Probably some orbiter settings. Will probably dig a deeper later but for now I can at least enjoy some music. Thank you folks!

Yes, 192.168.2.199 is the external IP address of my core. I am currently traveling and will test display on the server webpage this weekend and report back. Is the setup working for you?

Gangsingen,
I have tried using 9090 as well as 7890 as recommended on the Wiki with no luck. However I did notice the following:

1. Navigating through Advance-->Configuration-->Squeezebox Server does not display the page. So i browsed via 192.168.80.1:9000
2. Navigated to Settings-->Plugins-->CLI
3. Here the Radio button is checked, however it is greyed out. Which means i can't enable/disable it. Is that expected?
4. I sure can click on settings and see that the port is set to 9090
But i am not sure if it is enabled since the radio button is checked but greyed out. Any thoughts?

Following is the SqueezeBox Server Info
Version: 7.6.1 - r33110 @ Wed Aug 17 18:50:10 PDT 2011

Just received my new squeezebox yesterday and follow the instructions on the wiki to set it up (pretty much plug and play). The core configured it as soon as the box booted up (over Ethernet). I mapped it to the kitchen. From my core on-screen orbiter, choose kitchen-->audio-->selected music. There was no audio :(. Since my audio is on the NAS, i moved over a file to /home/public/data/audio/. Still no luck.

Under the Device Tree I see Slim Server Streamer (Registered). Under that i see SqueezeBox Player (it sure is mapped to the kitchen)

Navigated to Advanced-->Configuration-->SqueezeBox Server, it only shows Loading SqueezeBox Server. Navigated to 192.168.80.1:9000 and the UI did show up. I could play music on the box from /home/public/data/audio/. In the settings-->Information tab i do see the following:
Player Model: Squeezebox Radio
Firmware: 7.6.1-r9482
Player IP Address: 192.168.80.146
Player MAC Address: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

So it seems the Squeezebox is connected and can be controlled by the server. But not sure why i cant play music via the orbiter.

Any help will be appreciated Thanks!

I did try to debug this further but finally gave up for the following reasons:
1. Planning to move to 10.04. Hence will use my spare cycles testing this card on the new version
2. Have a temporary workaround

Workaround:
My current Asterisk system is a Virtual Machine running 1.8.6.0. It is tied to google voice and I can make outgoing calls. Did some research online on how to tie two PBX's together. It was very easy to connect my 1.8.6 Asterisk to LMCE 8.10 asterisk (http://www.cadvision.com/blanchas/Asterisk/IAX2Trunk.html). To my amazement there is no incompatibility issues between the versions.

Now my LMCE users/orbiters can call my 1.8.6 Asterisk extensions (and vice versa) as well as the outside world.

I most certainly would like to get rid of my Virtual Machine and move over to LMCE asterisk. I am trying to get my hands on some old hardware to test the TDM800p card with 10.04. If anyone is interested in the same feel free to contact me. Thanks!

Users / Asterisk + TDM800p + 8.10 configuration
« on: April 13, 2012, 02:48:36 am »
Hello Everyone,
I have a TDM800p card from Digium. It has 4 FXO and 4 FXS ports on it. I have installed the card in my 8.10 core. Per the vendor documentation i need to give it additional power from the PC if using FXS. Currently i am not using FXS and hence i have not given it any power.

The card shows up on the FreePBX GUI. I have set the dialplans etc based on some Internet search. Rebooted my core as well. Whenever i try making calls from the core, depending on the dialplan, i get "All circuits are busy" or "Call cannot be completed". The phone line is directly connected to port 8 of my TDM card. Per the card manual all FXO ports are port numbers 5-8 in my case. I have verified the line works with an analog phone.

Has anyone used or installed this card before? Any thoughts or pointers will be appreciated. Thanks!

Users / Re: Z-Wave Compatible Yale Locks
« on: March 27, 2012, 09:46:35 pm »
Hello JaseP,
That's exactly what i am trying to understand. The Aeon Labs Z-Wave Controller is a USB stick which has an inclusion controller. Per the description one should be able to pair the USB stick with the Yale Lock. The USB stick can then be plugged in to the Core. Since the Core supports the USB stick I was hoping that the locks will show up in MCE (But I believe that is not the case)

I am guessing the Vera has a built in webserver and thus you can control the locks, right? I am not sure if that is possible with the Aeon USB Stick since it does not have a webserver and requires a host processor to control it.

Regards,
Shiv

Speaking of versions, what version of Asterisk will 10.04 have? It would be great if it has the latest version (1.8.x) which can support GVoice. Currently running a separate VM for Asterisk since 8.10 has Asterisk 1.4.

I was using a Mythubuntu box for a couple of years. Re-imaged the box with LinuxMCE. Currently use MythTV with Hauppauge HVR-1600 connected to the analog comcast STB
