...seriously? Are you that thick?

Really Thom?  Must we chase away all new users when they ask an honest question?

Both.  The entire list should be able to load (titles) quickly and easily?  Then as I scroll around, or select letters to jump around, it should load the images for the most immediate items.  Essentially, don't load things unless they are with 1 or 2  scrollable screens of the currently displayed items.  Dynamic, little waiting, less transfer required as you only grab what the user is close to.  Perhaps more difficult to implement.  Am I making any sense here?   :P   It's past my bedtime.

J.

I think this is the same technique Androids native listview implements. The downside is that you get the scroll locking effect if assets are still loading from the core. Might be worth looking at listview to see if we can use its methodology in orbiter

Golgj4 I find The work around for live testing my apps on the Android market is to prefix it with testing... Or beta or something then releasing a separate app once you get to the release stage..  Kinda ala chrome and chrome beta. That way you can minimise bad comments on the main release. On your main release you then reply to the idiots comments and tell him he didn't set it up right :-)

The speed depends on your location. This mirror is hosted in the and has a 100mb dedicated connection so It's nice and fast downloading from it. I tested the 10.04 release in virtual box and it installed fine. I think you might be having disk issues. I'd try booting off an Ubuntu livecd loading the disk utility and looking if your disk is reporting any smart errors.

Wow another great video Thom.  I think the background audio might be a little loud in some places as it drowned out your voice and made it difficult to hear clearly, but you can still get the gist of it in those parts anyway. Thanks for your time in
making these, they are really valuable.

Syncing is working well, but the file size on the md5s is wrong for some reason. Like you say it probably is the way it reading the size. Downloads of the files then have the correct file size tho. Cheers for spotting that ill look into it when I get some free time.

Ok so implemented a a nice system of auto downloading any changes from the current repo without putting too much stress on it, so we should now have another up to date repo to download from :) Now the only thing I need to work out is how long we keep snapshot images for, cos my current implementation will periodically download new snapshots but will not remove old ones. any devs care to tell me what the snapshot release cycle is like and how long you typically keep them on repo?

Also Please could someone add this to the wiki as I have not got round to setting up creds for it yet.

Following on with this. I have setup a new mirror based in the UK. Files are manually synced with linuxmce.iptp.org at the moment but I'll build something in to check for new files daily. Please let me know if you have any issues.

Hi guys,

Is anyone interested in a UK hosted mirror of the snapshots and release ISOs hosted on linuxmce.iptp.org? I noticed they are currently hosted over in the Netherlands (from their IPs), while I was thinking how I can contribute to the community. I work for a large UK based web hosting company with access to free computing power and thought it would be nice if our UK based users could download new releases a little quicker.. How many peeps in the UK are avid lmce users?

Hi all,

been following this project for some time and have setup lmce in virtual box many times and now want to move it to phisical hardware. I have a sever rack in my garage where I want to setup my core and have a dell 1950 server that should meet all the specs for a decent core apart from havning a decent gfx card as its a 1U high server. I then want my DMs to network boot off the core. My question is this, If the core its self doesn't have the gfx card to be able to run the full UI 2. Will the machines that network boot off it (which have decent nvidia gfx cards) be able to set the UI on an individual basis or will they default to the settings on the core.

I need to know if I should change the machine that will be the core.

Cheers
