Installation issues / No audio in mythtv for one MD
« on: August 24, 2013, 07:36:12 pm »
I recently installed an Acer Veriton as an MD, on my 1004 system, due to its small footprint (installed behind a flat screen mounted above a fireplace) using VGA and analog sound.  Everything works as expected except there is no sound in mythtv, all of the other MDs work fine.  I have looked all over and the only reference I can find is related to Fedora installations and I tried those suggestions and even re-ran AV Wizard and still no sound in myth.

mythtv logs shows no issue and playback of movies, hulu, etc. work fine...

Anyone have any clues?

Wow, there is a lot to sort through!  I am working on it but it is going to take sometime to complete - probably won't be done til tonight.  I am only using the base URL for the animated ones, let me know if you want that differently.

Since I have found very few ways in which to give back to the community, I will volunteer my services for this task as it doesn't appear to require any specific technical skill.  Just let me know how you would like it done...

Just to reiterate - I am testing the qt5 version (nightly build from 19 Aug) on a Motorola Razr Maxx running Android version 4.1.2 and updated the skins folder with svn revision 27885 ( I think, not at my core right now).

qorbiter connects right away and I have the menu across the top of the screen with the connected to device 139 at the bottom.  I have no graphics of any kind and the menu is not clickable.

I do not have any log files right now, I will work on that when I get off work.

after running

Code: [Select]
svn co http://svn.linuxmce.org/svn/trunk/src/qOrbiter/qOrbiter_src/qml/android/ /var/www/lmce-admin/skins/
I can now get qorbiter to connect and I have menu options (lights, media, climate).  there are no graphics however.

Not sure if anyone has noticed this or not, but there are at least 2 different svn repositories in play here...

I updated the configuration process
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Android_Orbiter#Configuration

this page states:

Quote
svn co http://svn.linuxmce.org/svn/branches/LinuxMCE-1004/src/qOrbiter/qOrbiter_src/qml /var/www/lmce-admin/skins && chmod -R 777 /var/www/lmce-admin/skins/android

while http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/QOrbiter_Setup says:

Quote
svn co http://svn.linuxmce.org/svn/trunk/src/qOrbiter/qOrbiter_src/qml/android/ /var/www/lmce-admin/skins/

only the latter URL has the ../android/qt5 directory that the QT5 version I am testing is looking for...

or is this only me?

the key bit is making them accessible via 'chmod -R 777 /var/www/lmce-admin/skins/android'

I have done this and now get `|:-1 Timeout`...

I have tested the QT5 version on a Motorola Razr Maxx running android version 4.1.2.  I keep getting an error `make sure you can connect to your core` - I can open a browser and pull up my core on 192.168.80.1 from my phone...

let me know if you need more information or any insight.

Help Wanted / Re: Analog Capture Card Driver
« on: June 27, 2013, 04:30:44 pm »
Thanks, Thom, I added the information I could find about the card into bttv-cards.c and recompiled the module and I can get each channel to show the blue overlay, which should mean that I am on the right track but just can't seem to get any video.  I agree with using PIR motion sensors so using motion isn't my overall goal.

Writing a separate driver might be the way to go... I just have never done that before...

Help Wanted / Analog Capture Card Driver
« on: June 27, 2013, 04:17:31 am »
I have recently come into possession of several PC based Security Camera DVRs and can't help but think they would make excellent cores for my next LMCE install.  I installed 1004 on one and everything works fine except the camera capture card (which works fine under windows).  It is an IDIS 16 channel audio/video card with a single BT878 chip and dmesg says it is a generic 4 port bttv card.  I have tried everything I could think of to make it work and have not found the solution so I am offering one of the DVB Cards with 16 port BNC back plane to anyone who thinks they might be able to write the driver for this piece of hardware or alter the current Linux bbtv drivers.

I can provide any information you need as well as access to a box one of the cards is currently running on...

ok - just a couple of comments on the new Roku setup... My MAC wasn't listed (beginning 00:0D:4B:4E) so I added it to the template, it was then found and installed. Also, It did not automatically create a media scenario but if I remember correctly it wasn't on the old template either... So once that was done everything seems to work correctly!  Thanks for all you do, Thom, it is greatly appreciated!

wow - you are the man, Thom!  I disconnected my Roku from the system and deleted it because of the issues I was having and was planning on throwing it on eBay - but with this information I will hold onto it and see if I can get it to work properly.  I did not see the new template for the Roku as of yet but will keep checking!

I have a Roku and haven't had much success with it - and maybe the start of another topic - as I originally had it set up through the input of a PVR-250 but there was a noticeable 1 to 1.5 second delay between button clicks and movement on the screen.  I then ran it through the input on my Denon 3810CI  but the telnet stopped working and would only work after factory resets of the Roku and then for only an hour or so, and then have to do a factory reset all over again...   Point being the Hulu Desktop is seamless in LMCE and it is a shame that it is no longer being supported.
