Hello,

I freshly install Kubuntu 10.04 i386 then for LMCE 0810, I following instructions from here:

               http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Installing_1004

1) No sound over HDMI

What am I suppose to submit in terms of information hopefully to get a fix in the next release?

    GIGABYTE GA-MA78GPM-DS2H (AMD 780G + SB700 Chipset)

Update: I cancel the Wizard and went in KDE Desktop.  I receive a pop up saying :

KDE Detected that one or more internal sound devices were removed.
Do you want KDE to permanently forget about these devices.
Output: HDA ATI HDMI , ATI HDMI (HDMI Audio Output)

2) Alarm Panel

According to the setup, there are Plug n Play Alarm Panel?  I went to the Tutorial found here :

    http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Category:Tutorials

Regardless if it's plug n play or not, there's not a single tutorial on the alarm panel and can't find a page that lists those 'plug n play' panels.

3) Home Automation Adapter

When it was time for me to 'select' my adapter, I forgot to plug my Insteon adapter... so a message showed up on the screen telling no home auto modules could be found but there was a list of supported adapters.  I didn't see Insteon in the list.  Is it officially supported or not, if so why not put it in the list?

Thank you.

I was surprise and happy to find 'squeeze box' server for Linux.  It's written in PERL.

The installation RPM and archive source code are available here:

  http://www.squeezenetwork.com/download

The protocol : http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SlimProtoTCPProtocol

Softqueeze: http://softsqueeze.sourceforge.net/

I'm thinking it's probably possible to mod the source code to make this happen.

I very like this idea as well.  Anyone knows what squeezebox uses for protocol?  Maybe it's easy ... maybe not :-(  I'm thinking to buy a Squeezebox, that's why I ask.

Feature requests & roadmap / Re: Freeswitch?

It is worth noting guys, that LinuxMCE is a modular architecture.

It is entirely possible for someone to make a DCE device to replace the Asterisk DCE device, which talks to FreeSwitch.

The Asterisk device is in src/Asterisk, if anyone wants to look.

Thanx for pointing me in the right direction.  I'm very busy since a few months, it might take me a few months before I can dig in there.  I sure will look at it.

Ok, I found the instructions in the wiki how to install it but ... then I found out it's not possible to upgrade the firmware.  That's bad, I hate not to be able to upgrade myself a firmware.  Shipping back the unit to the manufacturer is completely out of question, specially when it's in production and need it daily.

Are there any alternatives for RS232 and/or sensors over TCP?

I have a CM11A connected to the rs232 port on my GC100.  Works fine.
I'm missing 1 piece here.  How does LinuxMCE communicate to the RS232 port over TCP to talk to the CM11A?

Is there a place in LinuxMCE to easily configure this type of equipment that sends the info over TCP?  I'd like a little more information on this.

Thank you,

Users / Re: DSC alarm panel using PC5401 module
« on: May 18, 2011, 03:20:19 am »
I already have a PC5401 but I'm not ready yet to connect my linuxmce box to the alarm system.  I'm just making my grocery list to make sure I don't miss nothing when I'm ready to do it.

I will try with the 5401 and see the results.  If there are issues, I've done programmation in the past so I might be able to figure it out and pass the information back to linuxmce to make sure the changes make it in the distribution.

If I'm not happen with the 5401, I will resale it and order a DCS IT 100.   On DSC's web site for the IT 100 it says : Real-time zone status .  I'm not sure if the 5401 can provide that information.  In the 5401, there's a command to get the status of each zone.  I'm thinking the IT 100 maybe outputs the data to the serial port each time there's a zone tripped regardless if the system is armed or not.  I'm not 100% positive but I wish someone could guide us...

Thank you all,
PB

Is it true LinuxMCE supports DSC PC5401 ?

On linuxmce.org web site, I search for DSC and there's not even a single entry.  Same in the wiki :-(

Thank you,

Feature requests & roadmap / Freeswitch?
« on: April 08, 2011, 02:44:47 am »
After reading and trying both Asterisk and Freeswitch, I wouldn't go back to Asterisk.

Is Freeswitch somewhere down the path?  If not then ... why not?

Thank you,

Users / INSTEON 2413S versu 2413U
« on: April 07, 2011, 11:41:13 pm »
Hello,

I read LinuxMCE (latest development code) supports Insteon 2412S and 2413S (serial).

In another forum, they claim 2413U is a 2413S with an included "USB to SERIAL" adapter.

Am I right to think the 2423U is supported as well?
