Installation issues / Re: mce_usb2 ir blaster broke
« on: June 09, 2012, 03:56:48 pm »
People who have a problem with lirc due to the yavdr repo, might want to create/edit the /etc/apt/preferences file to contain the following lines:
Code: [Select]
Package: liblircclient0
Pin: version 0.8.6-0*
Pin-Priority: 1000

From that point forward, the liblircclient library will be the correct one. I will see that I can get the correct -dev package into our repo, to work with the yavdr liblircclient as well.

Thank you Posde, i use yaVDR for vdr-1.7.22 and the newer that Linuxmce-repo StreamdevClient, since it seems to work better on my install. I had frame drops on my MDs with the older version. Maybe the Linuxmce-repo could upgrade vdr and its plugins to?

The problem is solved! At the same time as i upgraded my MD i added the yaVDR repo to pull the latest vdr and plugins, in the process lirc got upgraded from the yaVDR repo. I think that was the problem. I rebuild the MD and upgraded it to the latest packages without yaVDR repo, and now it works again :D

Well... For about 2 year ago i plugged it in my bedroom MD and it have worked since ;)
I will take a photo of it and post here, that way you (Seth) can compare it to yours to see if they are similar. BUT... It doesn't work yet, it makes me so angry. Anyone know if lira updated recently? I think the problem is in lira, not in LMCE.

Ha, my bad, I'm running 10.04. The blaster have worked both under 8.10 and 10.04, witch is great as the cost about a tenth of a usbuirt.

FYI i did an upgrade on my whole system today (12060626053) and still no blaster

On 17/5-12 i did apt-get update && apt-get upgrade, after that my mce_usb2 ir blaster stopped working. Do anyone know what happened around that time, or do anyone know where to start dig?

Motherboard: MSI K9A2 CF
Processor: AMD Phenom QuadCore 9550 (2,66ghz)
Graphics: gForce gtx 9800
RAM: 4GB (2 x 2GB) Kingston HyperX DDR2 SDRAM 1066mhz Dual Channel
HDD: WD Raptor 10000rpm 74gb SATA2 (internal)
DVD Drive: Generic IDE DVDROM
TV Tuner: 2xHauppauge Nova HD-S2

That is my headless core, handling current 4 MDs, tellstick, vdr, squeezebox, deluge torrent daemon and TimeMachine backup for my mac. It is old parts, i think the core costed about 700 bucks including the tv tuners. As MDs i use an ION2 in my living room doing full HD and ION1 for 720p, everything working great

Problem kind of solved. Deleting and replacing it with an empty file makes the MD boot as expected. Probably the ID of the graphics card isn't recognized by

I installed my headless core with LMCE-1004-20120413131325885, wish went so smooth that i couldn't believe my eyes, very great job with the LiveDVD L3mce.

Now to the problem. My livingroom MD with a nvidia GTX-560 are driving me nuts. I have installed nvidia-current through x-swat repo, the version is 295.40. When it is about the initialize X it unloads the nvidia module, causing Failed to setup X screen.
If i ssh to the MD on boot and modprobing the nvidia module X fires up and give me AVWizard. I complete it and get a fully working MD, BUT, if i reboot the MD I'm back a zero again, having to ssh, modprobe, complete AVWizard to be able to use the MD.

/etc/pluto.conf shows AVWizardOverride = 0
                              AVWizardDone = 1
                              FirstBoot = false

How do i get the MD to understand that AVWizard is done and not to touch the nvidia module?

Bumping this. Have anyone experienced this sort of VDR behavior?

I have tried newest s2-liplianin to replace the kernel drivers but no difference, my card btw is a hauppauge NovaHD S2.
My reception is strong and constant, so is signal quality.
Im very thankful for more tips from all you people, sometimes another perspective can be a good solution.

The same thing happens when I'm watching on the core itself.
