The CEC lib is available & common so it could be integrated in LinuxMCE for sure.
This one?

If anyone has a capture card in their core, which is headless, I would be very curious if you were able to setup mythtv. I would expect that to be a problem

I have a TechniSat CableStar HD2 (DVB-C) so I'm not sure whether I would want to use VDR or MythTV, but I will be running the latest snapshot soon. Headlessly, as KVM on an openSUSE system. I wouldn't mind running any tests.

Just searched for open source 3D talking head and found Xface. The project died in 2008, but they reached version 1.
http://xface.fbk.eu/index.htm

There are probably heaps of other "3D butler" projects out there if you look for it:P

Problems are not tying it into LMCE, but how it would play with other media playing on the instance..

Not sure what you mean by "sharing a specific window", but you can forward graphical programs using the -X flag.

Code: [Select]
# ssh -X user@192.168.80.1
# xeyes

or if it's a KDE-app:
Code: [Select]
# dbus-launch NAME_OF_APP
When you're in the comfy chair, you don't want to leave the comfy chair. So I can open firefox to configure stuff
Code: [Select]
# ssh -X user@192.168.80.1
# dbus-launch firefox URL_OF_WEBADMIN

aso..

Norwegian HD test of Raspberry Pi on XBMC here:

More a preview than a real test, but nice quality:)

@Phoenixgg, ZFS is overkill for personal use. Save yourself some headache and go with defaults (ext4 or xfs).

I personally had a long personal journey exploring the btrfs. For personal use? Overkill. If you aren't a filesystem geek, you're not going to enjoy or feel any difference. So I go with ext4 (best support?) or xfs (xfs is good for huge files), ext2 for thumb drives.

Headless just means "without local monitor", virtualized or not.

Installation issues / Re: Virtual Machines - ZEN or KVM
« on: April 13, 2012, 05:55:23 pm »
I'm using KVM now on a rather beefy OpenSUSE system. Since I'm still fiddling with NAS backup and UPS scripts, I cannot tell you what works and what doesn't, but if you're going for KVM, you should consider using non-cirrus video card since it failed on the AV Wizard after reboot (X couldn't find a monitor), and it didn't help changing it after install (for some reason). So choose VGA on the vm setup. I'm still searching for ways to use the nVidia card on the virtual guest.
Also, I had to add the 2nd network card to the guest OS AFTER install..

I'm a long time Virtualbox user, and so far I am really impressed with KVM both in terms of performance and ease-of-use. Please check out the nice OpenSUSE docs: http://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/html/openSUSE/opensuse-kvm/

The Yast control panel in OpenSUSE makes it a whole lot easier and polished:)

This will be so cool! Can't wait to get my hands on it:)

Can you disable effects? First thing my GF will ask is to turn off the spinning icons...

I got one for my birthday from my GF, so I can sponsor one to the LMCE project if it is needed. I am interested (of course) to be using it as a hopefully quiet orbiter.

26
I see that that's the way it's supposed to work more or less; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Usage_Intro#Controlling_an_Orbiter
But my 3rd button doesn't :P

If we could bind the F7-action to 3rd mouse button it would be possible to control a lot using only a mouse.
Right now double-click (left) brings freezes, while right-click exits menu to go back to the media that is playing. If 3rd mousebutton (wheel clicked) to do the same as F7 then I wouldn't have to use a keyboard as well as a mouse to control the movie..

It would allow users who are still looking for the right remote to control their boxes using a mouse:)

Users / Re: [SOLVED]VDR on MD Channel not available
« on: November 07, 2011, 10:58:15 pm »
Hello!
Maybe you could clarify? I have used the scanning tools and receives a lot of channels, that I've saved to /etc/vdr/channels.conf, but when I run VDR I get the NO SIGNAL screen. I tried copying channels.conf to channels.conf.save but that didn't work either. What's the story?

How's it like to install in VB? Do you get access to the plug and play devices around the house?

I'm using 8.10 Final, so that may be it. No biggie, since the one without transparency is ok.
