Installation issues / Re: architecture for audio files
« on: June 21, 2011, 09:58:45 pm »
THanks for the replys fellas,

posde, I have my chosen audio files already ripped from CD into MP3 format. Is there a specific location I should look to save these audio files for each user?

Matt,

I deleted all my audio files from my public folder. I then copied 2 files. one file to /user_1/data/audio and the other file to /user_2/data/audio. I reloaded the router but still no sign of audio tracks appearing on the orbiter screen for each user.

Is there a possibility my architecture is not set up correctly? When setting up LMCE and asked if I wanted to use LMCE architecture, I'm not to sure if I choose the LMCE architecture option.

Cheers
DAn

Hi,

I currently have my audio tracks saved to /home/public/data/audio. I have 2 users who both can access the public audio tracks.  Where do I need to save audio tracks so that they can be viewed only by 1 user?

Users / Re: Showtime Scenario still active after I have disabled
« on: June 08, 2011, 04:54:14 am »
Hi,

I am trying to take a look at UpdateEntArea located /usr/pluto/bin/

when I try to open, nano informs me file is in DOS format.

I am trying to copy the file onto a USB pen drive so I can take a look at it on my Ubuntu machine, hopefully converting into Unix format using dos2unix software.

when I try to copy file in terminal using:

cd /usr/pluto/bin/
cp UpdateEntArea /media/disk

i get

cannot create regular file `/media/disk/UpdateEntArea': Read-only file system

Any ideas how I go about taking a look at the file.

Cheers
Dan

Thanks for the update Matt,

Just found this post, seems gtsupport has been having the same problems:

http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=11479.0

Thom has suggested looking at source logic.

"This is generated if it does not exist, by UpdateEntArea, which is the source for all the automatic logic. Look in src/UpdateEntArea, and the appropriate subsection if you want to see the logic used."

I have managed to find the UpdateEntArea file at /usr/pluto/bin/

when I try to open It with nano, I get unformatted DOS code. What software should I use to open and edit such a file? Is this the correct file to be editing?

Cheers
Dan

Thanks for the replys,

merkur2k I tried changing lighting wizzard to unchanged and also off. neither change the lights on event that keeps happening.

Just to clarify, this seems to occur when I exit the tv control Scenario screen.

Matt, how did you resolve the showtime issue? I went to respond to events. There does not seem to be any events created.

cant find any other places in web admin that allows me to change the status of showtime.

cheers

Hey Mat,

Thought as much. Cheers.

Thing is I have not set up the show time event. It just appeared on my orbiter screen when I added a scenario for my ir TV.

When I go to events, there does not seem to be any event created for showtime that I can see.

Would you know what logs I would need to look at to gain a better understanding of what is going on?

cheers

Hi,

Is there a way to turn off showtime. I have gone to Webadmin / Show Devices Tree / My Scenarios / Lighting Scenarios and unticked the box for showtime.

I regen the orbitor and the Scenario has now disappeared from the orbitor screen, but still when I start a film my lights dim, and when i stop the film the lights turn up again.

Is there somewhere else I should be looking to disable this feature?

Cheers

Hi Klovell,

Kooma and I have managed to get my IR lights working with the following method.

Be warned thou, its not ideal as the scenario will apper under the media group on your orbitor screen.

1. First go to the web admin. From the top menu select "Wizard" -> "Devices" -> "A/V equipment".

2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you see buttons Add device.

3. From the next window, "LinuxMCE :: Pick Device Template", do the following

   a. As I want to create a totally new template, I first pressed "Add manufacturer", then another window opens where I wrote the manufacturer to be "NoName" and pressed "Add". Then close the window and select the newly added manufacturer from the previous window.
   b. Then I selected "Device Category" to be "LCD < TVs/Plasmas/LCD's/Projectors < AV" (this might not make a difference, though)
   c. As the device to be added is new and doesn't exist yet, press "Add device template".
4. Now you get a series of question windows to fill-in. They are quite well explained, but I'll walk them through here
4.1. "What is the name or model # *": "Imaginary model"
"How do you control this model": Infrared
    "Create device": check the checkbox
    Press "Next".
4.2. Delays, used existing values expect for the first one, changed that from 7000 ms to 3000. And "Next"
4.3. This totally depend on your case, for the same of simplicity I used "no" and blank for the two fields.
4.4. Again, up to your case here. I used the "toggle" option.
4.5. Here going with #2, and checked "PC" as "external"/"VGA", and "TV" as "LiveTV"/"-Please select-".
4.6. No DSP modes...
4.7. Left these as default (4 and 2).
4.8. "Sorry that we don't already have codes for manufacturer noname, device category LCD. Please take a moment to add them so other users can benefit from your efforts. Thanks!
Type in a description for the infrared group and click Add i/r group: "testing 12-6-2010". Press "Add i/r group".
5. Now you can edit the ir codes. Make sure you have "The device is controlled via": "USB UIRT Embedded..."
5.1. From the "Power" section, "Toggle power not implemented:" press "Click to add".
6.1 After learning IR code and successfully testing code I scrolled down to the bottom of "edit IR codes" page and pressed update button.
6.2a Next I created a scenario for the template. Go to Wizard>Scenario>Media Scenarios. specify the entertainment area you would like to use device in.
6.2b Then choose device from the drop down menu.
6.2c Now to do quick reload and you should see your scenario under the media section of MD screen.

Thanks to Kooma for most of these steps. Legend.

Hope this helps.

Please let me know if you manage to get this method working under the climate control group on orbitor screen. What I would like to do is move my ir lights away from media group to the lighting group.

I have a question, does anyone know if it is possible for me to change the climate control group. I have IR blinds I use, what I would like is a group for this instead of having blind scenario stuck under my media group.

Also is it possible to use my IR commands when building an events handler. last time I tried to create an action, to a sensor being tripped my IR template did not apper from the drop down menu for respond to event.

Cheers

Thank you posde,

Worked a treat.

Turned out to be the black sub cable. I unplugged it and volume worked. Sub works in pink connection on sound card.

I assumed things were colour coded, but obviously not.

Thanks again.

standard 3 x 3.5mm jack plugs that come out of the bass box, connect straight to my sound card.

Installation issues / on screen orbitor audio level control SOLVED
« on: May 08, 2011, 07:04:10 pm »
Hi,

The +/ -/ mute volume buttons from my on screen orbitor does not seem to work when pressed.

In alsamixer my speakers are controlled by the surround bar. Master does not have any effect on volume.

My setup consists of on board sound card and 5.1 speakers.

Any ideas what needs to be done to get the volume buttons working?
