So just a brief update...i rebuilt my core, added the MDs then the AV gear and same problem as before

WebGui still takes 10 mins to respond.

So i deleted all my MDs and re-added and unfortunately the same problem occurs.

If i add any AV gear to the core all works grand. As soon as I change any of these devices 'controlled by' field to be an MD, the GUI takes 10 mins to respond.

So problem def relates to adding AV equipment to an MD.

I dont know where to go next with this, i had hoped deleting the MDs and readding would resolve it...I guess the only thing to do next is delete the core and start a clean install but i have so much config i really dont want to go there....

Hi Richard, i have tried deleting all AV devices and re-adding but same probs unfortunately.

On my setup all my av devices are connected to MDs, none to the core.

So I did a quick test and added some AV devices to my core and via the device tree the webadmin responds immediately when clicking on each device.  Clicking on any AV device on the MDs, results in the 10min delay before a response.

So perhaps i will delete the MDs and re-add these from scratch and see if that helps.

thanks.

Hi Richard, thanks for the reply.  I dont have any usb devices attached to my core...the only device connected is a CM11a via serial.

I removed that and rebooted the core but things still the same.

One thing i did notice is that the 'Get' request is not recorded in the apache access.log when i click the link, it only appears in the log at the same time the server responds with data i.e. after about 10 mins.  I was starting to suspect that it was something to do with MySql but this would leave to to suspect that its more to do with apache as if apache handled the request it should immediately populate its log.

Perhaps someone with more knowledge of apache could confirm this.

I have had an issue for months now, whereby if i have any AV devices added to my system and click on the AV Equipment link on the lmce admin site, its takes 10 mins to return any data...the browser just sits waiting for data to return....

It always does respond but literally it can take 10 mins or more.  Given all the problems i have had with my Denon box ( now resolved ), this issue has been driving me mad recently...

The same issue occurs should i click directly on any of the AV devices via the device tree....clicking on non av devices is fine....

Very weird, but very very frustrating.

Wonder if anyone else is experiencing a similar issue or might know whats going on ?

Thanks

ok got it working now...

I put the device templates back to their original settings ( including templates 1920, 1811, 1181, 1141, 1754 )

Looking through my original log as listed in this topic http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=11227.0, i can see that the script 99_PLCBUS_1141.sh is being called.

From looking at device template 1920 as suggested by TKMedia, i now know that it is that device template that tries to kick that script off.  As such, to get things working all i had to do was change the 067b2303 value in the plug n play data in this template.

Previously i had changed the plug n play data in all the above listed templates including 1811, whereas i should only have changed it in 1920 as evidently it was this one causing the conflict.

i think the important point in my case here is that i should not have changed anything on 1811, if i had only changed 1920 and 1754, TKMedias suggestions would have worked...but i tinkered a little after the original change to 1754 did not resolve the issue including making the change to 1811.

But all good now :)

TKMedia, thanks very much for your help!

So after editing template 1920, the Denon is now being detected as a RM-D320 ( Sony / Lirc Remote Control ), which has a device template of 1181....not to be confused with the original device template 1811 ( Generic USB to RS232 dongle) talked about earlier...

So i edited the 1181 template ( changed the 067b2303 value ) and its no longer being detected now as anything..

TKMedia, could you perhaps give an idea as to your train of thought...do you believe the device templates have been changed or corrupted in someway ?

thanks

Enigmus, to try it on your setup, from the webadmin select Advanced -> Configuration -> Device Templates

From the device template page, enter '1754' in the text entry box right below the text 'Do you know the ID of the device template? Just type it below and click "GO".'

Then click on the 'Go' button to the right.

You will see the device template drop down list should now show 'ZWave'.

Click on the 'Pick Device Template' button

This should open a popup window, showing the device data for this template.

Scroll down to the plug and play information, the last entry should be the 'Tricklestar' data...the comment field should say trickstar.

Click on the delete button to the right

Click on the save button at the bottom of the page

You should now remove any unknown devices and reload the router....

Hi TKMedia, i did as you suggested ( removed the tricklestar entry from the plug and play list of the zwave device template ), deleted all the unknown devices and reloaded the router.

Unfortunately same thing occurs, my Denon 2310 is identified as a Generic USB to RS232 dongle.

I should also point out that the script '/usr/pluto/pnp/99_PLCBUS_1141.sh' does not exist in my pnp directory....

I have investigated things a little further. I noticed in my list of 'unknown devices' the following item:

067b2303      /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_67b_2303_noserial

So i deleted this device, unplugged the Denon usb->serial cable from the MD, reloaded the router then re inserted the Denon usb->serial cable.

The device was detected as a 'Generic USB to RS232 dongle' and not as the usual 'AVC-A1SRA (RS232)' device.

So obviously sometime in the last couple of weeks when the denon disconnected, it has been subsequently picked up by the PnP engine but as this generic serial device and i have clicked ignore as i didnt have a clue what it was....

The DCERouter.log shows the following trace for the newly detected Generic USB to RS232 dongle device:

Hi Hari, wasnt sure at first what you mean by a PL2302 but from a google i think you mean a Prolific Tech 2302?

If so, answer is no....its an ABC brand, heres a link to the same cable on amazon

I have a Denon 2310 connected via a usb to serial cable and its been running fine for a number of months now...however in the last two weeks it has stopped working completely.  It wont respond to any commands from linuxmce and after deleting it as a device it is no longer being detected.  I have replaced the cable in order to rule that in or out and the same issue is occurring.

I noticed a similar thread relating to a Yamaha RX-1600 not being detected ( http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=11157.0 ) and wonder if anything might be up with the PnP system at the moment, prob just my system but baffled as to what could have changed.

I do update my system regularly using apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade and am running on latest release

thanks

« on: October 17, 2010, 11:36:06 pm »
Hi, it looks like i have resolved the problem...

On the off chance, I decided to try a different hdmi cable....and discovered that i was using a DVI -> HDMI cable...i had thought i was using a straight hdmi cable..guess i need to pay attention a bit more.

Anyway so i exchanged that cable for the straight hdmi cable, reran the AV wizard and hey presto all works fine now...I dont loose the video at any time now.

I have no idea why the Denon likes this setup better, but it works and I am happy :)

Barney, sounds like you are already using a hdmi->hdmi cable but if not perhaps you can give that a go and see if things work better for you.

Thanks

Bob
