if running an nVidia card, try upgrading to the latest driver from nVidia web site.

Ive not had any issue with mythtv audio, but some issue with video (even movies) but the latest driver fixed it.

Responded to your email... basically I looked at the GID for the mythtv group, and the UID and GID of the Mythtv user on the core and compared them to what was on the Media Director.. as I suspected, they were different... setting the media director to match the core fixed the problem.

not that I 'know' this will fix it... but leave the video resolution around 1024x768 or default...

you've done everything that i have done to get it working (except you changed the video res)

are you getting an error "Failed to start X"? or is X starting but nothing else happens?

If getting an error, check to see that the "Driver" line in /etc/X11/xorg.conf is "nvidia" and not 'nv' or other.

I think it was libvdpau... I re-installed the nvidia driver 285 series and all is well.


the other files that libxine2 needed were libavcodec, libavutil, and libpostproc

ooohhh... I may have spoken too soon...   Mythtv is now a black screen..

Further investigation... if VDPAU is set in Mythtv settings, the screen is black... if set to CPU+ or other than VDPAU, then video is visible.. I think it was updated from the above adds to my sources.list file.

Thanks...   I am able to watch the VC-1 video files just perfectly.


here is what I ended up doing since the libxine2 file complained about dependencies:

added both of these to my sources.list
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/yavdr/stable-vdr/ubuntu lucid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/yavdr/stable-vdr/ubuntu lucid main

then ran apt-get -f install... which pulled in the other dependencies and completed the installation of libxine2



again.. thanks so much.

Hi,
    Im trying to set up an event based on a 'listen' mode from my receiver.   I'm able to status when the receiver is playing rear surround audio, and I want to be able to turn on my external rear channel amplifier.

In the template for my receiver (Kenwood VR-5700), I am filtering data received from the receiver.     I have a template for a USB Relay device that has two commands "ON" and "OFF". 

How do I tell the Kenwood receiver to trip an event that will turn on the relay when 6.1/7.1 surround is available, and turn it off when only 5.1 surround?

The documentation for creating an event is a bit limited and Im unable to grasp what I need to do.

I had this too... i installed a newer (latest) NVIDIA driver... which fixed the problem.

Still at it!!!!


Tried the libxine2 posted in this forum... still no affect on playing mkv files with the vc-1 video codec (still a gray screen)

I tried switching the Hardware acceleration to opengl.. the video became a black screen....

tried an earlier version of NVIDIA graphics driver  (280.13)... no change.

Is anyone able to play these VC-1 video files using LMCE 1004 or even 0810?   I'd like to compare settings and version info.

Here is my video information (via lspci):
VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G92 [GeForce 9800 GTX] (rev a2)
