From my own experiences, not all DVDs can be ripped to the hard drive with LMCE... I too had to use another program.   However, the .dvd extension is the same as a .iso file.. just rename them to .dvd.

As for jerky video.. is it fine while just watching a movie?   Are you ripping a disc to the same drive that the movie is being played from?   If so, it may just be a limitation... you may also try installing a newer nVidia driver.. Im running 185 right now   and HD video is much better.

Is it fine while just watching a movie. -> NO.
I'll try up dating the nvidia driver and see what happens.

with regards to the jittery, choppy, jerky video please give us a little more info:

1) which UI are you using?  so when in the AV wizard did you pick 'static images', 'OpenGL with overlay' or OpenGL with alpha blending'
2) which driver are you using for hardware acceleration?  in Web admin > Devices > Media directors look under 'hardware acceleration' to find the driver name - you should be able to use 'vdpau' with your card (I believe).  I have had an issue previously with the 'xv' driver that results in the video getting choppier and choppier with each new video played, this gets better again by reloading the router - I have no idea if this is still an issue.

1) i'm using UI version 2 with alpha blending.
2) xv, I'll change it to vdpau, update the drivers and post results.

Hey been coping my entire dvd collection to my core/hybrid, while ~95% of the DVD's copied fine and with out issue. Their were a few that didn't copy, rather they just hung their at XX% completed as seen in pending tasks. The only way I could get the movies to the core was to use handbrake. That worked, but I'd rather keep all the same file type on my core. *.dvd(*.iso) just for consistency sake.
Any ideas of what might be happing here?

I also have another problem. My video seams jittery, choppy, jerky, especially if I'm trying to watch one movie while coping another.
I can see the refresh line move through the screen, sometimes. I've asked others at my house if they see it, some do others don't. I don't know if this is a problem with my video card Nvidia 9500 or a problem with my 5400 rpm data drive.

video card = http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121339
hard drive = http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152245
I can post the rest of the system specks if required.

I'm experiencing firewall issues. your orbiter works only when I disable the fire wall on the core. the web orbiter works just fine with out any firewall changes. Am i missing something?
I added an exception for the correct port on the firewall config tab. Shouldn't this port be open by default?

Users / Custom web 2.0 orbiter screen size.
« on: August 17, 2011, 03:13:28 am »
Hey been looking around I didn't see a post on this.

I wanted to know if their was a way to make your own screen size option, in the size selection options, in the orbiter size selection. I see almost everything their, but what if I have a web device that has a resolution that's not listed. Can I make my own sized screen web orbiter?
I see under the advanced settings their is a "ScreenWidth", "ScreenHeight". Are these text boxes designed with the idea of put your screen resolution here in mind? If they are do we just forget the pick you size option on the other page?
Thank you.

I know how to do it in the command line. It's just my understanding this is not the preferred way to install stuff in lmce. Thank you for your reply, however I'd like to "fix" the reason for the software list in lmce being empty.

Hey did a fresh install following http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Installing_0810 choosing to do a internet based install.
Well when I went to install libdvdcss, my choices of stuff to install on the lmce-admin was blank. I did a update package list, got the little window that stated something about getXMLs. but nothing ever happened. Can some one help me?

Hey I didn't find a lot about this and waned to ask. I want to add Drupal to my core, Drupal as you might know(allong other CMS) need access to MySql. Would I like to know is:

1 Is their any harm in using the same MySql data base?
After reading this http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=6994.0 I was turned away form that.

2 What kinda of problem am I going to make for my self, I know that the core uses MySql and I don't want to mess anting up in that regard. Just make my own entry's pertaining to Drupal.

3 Assuming that I can go ahead with this. What's the password to access the MySql server, where is it located, I know Localhost, but more details would be appreciated.

4 Any other things I'm not thinking of that people can point out, that would cause a headake would be nice.

I finally set up a test bed using VMware workstation. So I'll be using this as a prelude to adding to my production system.

Feature requests & roadmap / Linux Game Tree
« on: April 15, 2011, 01:10:10 am »
Hey guys I don't know if this has been brought up as it's fairly new. I believe it could bring some attention to LMCE.
Linux Game Tree. It's a TV gamming platform kinda like Lmce, includes Cedega. http://gametreelinux.com/
Have a look. Is this something that can benefit LMCE?

Users / Change The name of your hard drive
« on: March 30, 2011, 01:23:15 am »
Ok I added and formated a new drive and installed it into my core/hybrid told it to use LMCE file structure, but noticed that it named it by the model of the drive + some random number. Normally this wouldn't matter to most and under certain circumstances it wouldn't bother me; however I have, and will install several more drives of the same model. Once you have something that woks stick with it, right..
I would like to know how to rename the drives so it makes since to me when I'm about in SSH, or on the web page it's self, with out breaking everything.
Thanks.

Users / Edit Web Bookmarks in computing sub menu
« on: February 11, 2011, 01:27:53 am »
Hey I looked all over but didn't find what I was looking for, admittedly I'm not that great of a researcher so i apologize if this has already been addressed.

I want to add book marks to the computing sub-menu you know where "Web Admin", "YouTube", "Google Video", "CNN", "Weather", "Traffic" is. I want to add some of my own entries their.

Also while I'm asking about that, how does some one get VLC in the media menu, I did install it through the Admin web site like LinuxMCE Hulu player, but theirs no entry for it like LinuxMce Hulu player.

Thank for your time and patience.

OK I forgot to mention this is when I'm in the kde desktop. When I chose kde desktop in advanced and go to the desktop and open a web browser(firefox) their is no sound. When I chose computing then a web page in the orbiter, I get sound in those web pages.

I went through the settings for adobe and I don't know what I changed but it's working now.
Thanks
