Developers / Re: How to compile Uplinks clutter orbiter demo
« on: May 14, 2010, 11:08:13 am »
To compile the Uplink's demo just download it, uncompress the archive somewhere using;

tar zxf clutter-orbiter-sample.tar.gz<return>

Now you need the clutter lib;

apt-get install libclutter-1.0-dev<return>

Im trying to learn clutter at present, ive been throught the tutorials and now I wanted to build the example, i have the example downloaded and can see the cpp code etc, however when i try to do the install libclutter-1.0-dev it says it cannot find the package?? am i doing someting wrong?

yes still good, but...... there is a script floating around that possy made to make a chroot environment, was easy to use.
i just used a clean ubuntu install on virtualbox and than made a chroot build on it.

BTW, make sure you make your hard drive big enough, it probably needs to be 60Gb+ or even 80Gb so, i ran out of space on my 40Gb and it's difficult to expand the hard drive space on virtualbox.

On a side note to save some space, don't make the cd1 and cd2 iso's

I build mine in a virtualbox and it's good to go now, even got the apache server working going out.

Now i'm trying to make another vm to test the build.

Richard

Why do I need 60+GB of space all I want to do is setup an environment where I can fool around with the code and database!?
Would less then 10GB not suffice?

if this is a snapshot error is it possible to re-install a new snapshot without having to wipe the core(formatting the drive and losing all media etc)?

It can be configured but somebody should change the code ;)

nite_man when you say it can be configured do you mean a database field or are you talking code change?

What is the easiest way around this issue? Im getting tired of having to change my default to FILENAME everytime I reload the router or add new media etc!!

Is this option really not configurable via the database?

Im giving the VirtualBox setup a go.
I have just installed Kubuntu 810 so im just wondering are the instructions on
http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Building_LinuxMCE_0810 still relevant? minus the chrooting as im just going to use this as a dev environment?

Im lookin to build from source however I dont want to ruin my current live hybrid setup.
Can I build my dev environment in a VM setup? or what is the best method?
If VM is an option anyone know where I can download a kubuntu VM setup?

Users / Re: Subtitles on Core but not MD
« on: May 05, 2010, 11:57:43 pm »
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Subtitles_Support - this wiki applies to xine.

m2ts is played by mplayer, so, the configs are in /root/.mplayer/config (c/h and md) (used by root) and /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf (systemwide for c/h and md).

Ya I guessed as much when I noticed that it was having no bearing changing the files :)

So looking at the mplayer.conf file the only thing that refers to subs in it is
Code: [Select]
# DVD: Display English subtitles if available.
#slang = en

And from what I gather this is only the language settings!! nothing to do with turning on and off subs :(

I would like to know this as I have had a question on a previous thread about how to get rid of embedded subs and looks like this "blooper" in my setup has pointed me in the right direction!!

This should do it:
