Just add it to the device template, use the "Device Data" section to add as many as you like.

I didn't upgrade yet, I'll check and keep you posted.

The wiki is down so i cannot see if there's any more direct HTTP-support in GSD, but take a look at this: http://snippets.dzone.com/posts/show/788
It contains most of what you need to initiate a HTTP POST from Ruby.

Users / Mini PC / clam shell as MD?
« on: November 02, 2011, 09:18:57 am »
I'm planning to add one or two MDs to our house. Since there seem to be a pile of dirt cheap mini PCs based on the Atom platform I'm wondering if anybody have successfully done this? I'm thinking not to use the built in 10" or so screen nor use the built in keyboard - but simply to attach it to the back side of my TV or big screen and run it in the same way as my AsRock 330 ION. Are there any models that work better or are there some to stay away from?

There ought to be a way to restrict the amplification power of the bluetooth dongle, I know I've seen it in some software. Problem is that it might be buried in the hardware driver. Anybody who knows?

This definitely sounds like a heating problem. Do you keep the Core in a small closet or such? Is it fanless? An of course you didn't overclock it

Hmm, this is most strange.
The server had malfunctioned for some days when I wrote my question. Being away for some days, and today I picked the server out of the closet to do some investigations as suggested above. Power on - and everything works....

So I seem to have a self healing server, which in one way is very nice, but I hate to have these situations when I cannot find the cause of the fault. Most likely it'll come back again.
Thanks for you good suggestions, I'll save then until it's needed again. ;-)

I have been running my current LMCE installation without a flaw since beginning of 2011. Some days ago it just stopped. I realise this is most likely Linux related rather than LMCE, but since we have some really knowledgeable people here I'm giving it a try.
OK, so here are my observations:
- No network activity, neither on outer nor inner network. PING does nothing. DHCP does not deliver an IP adress to the inner network

I disconnected the Core and took it into my office and started it. All seems normal, except for when it's time for the LMCE UI to start I get a blank screen. Still no network. I can log into the core via the console and for what I can see all processes needed are running.
dmesg doesn't contain anything alarming.

Where would you look next?

I'd love to fax you the beer in front of me; it's an Old Stock Ale 2011 from North Coast Brewing. But since I didn't have your fax number I was forced to drink it myself.  ;-)

Users / Re: cheapest interface for sockets/lights
« on: August 21, 2011, 09:14:43 pm »
Most likelly a Tellstick with some cheap switches from Nexa, Waveman, etc will be the cheapest solution. The Tellstick interface costs 417 SEK in Sweden (€43 / $61). Three Nexa switches (wall warts) and a remote will cost you approx. 200 SEK. I would guess this is the by far cheapest way to start using power switches with LMCE.

They are not distributed with 8.10 by some reason. I got mine by private mail by someone and it worked well the last time I tested it. I'll check if I still have the .exe file.

Users / Re: New power controller: Tellstick
« on: May 15, 2011, 07:43:06 pm »
I've had my TellStick controlling 10 lights and one power amplifier for  three months now and so far it works as expected; no negative effects on LMCE observed.

I have one design question: My power amplifier has no remote control options what so ever (classic valve amplifier). I tried to have a device hierarchy with TellStick - Nexa switch - power amplifier. My idea was to have On/Off commands implemented on the power amplifier, these would be sent to the parent. The parent would catch the comands and resend them to it's parent. Since I didn't get this to work properly I' just wondering if I was on the right track or if there is another way of implementing this kind of hierarchical device structure.

Installation issues / Re: DNS-troubles
« on: April 11, 2011, 06:34:41 pm »
I don't know why it worked before, but the expected setup would be to use the DNS in the DCErouter for all your devices and only have a DNS forward from the router to the DN router. This way, the router will request name resolution from Internet DNS-servers and forward the reply to DNS in the DCErouter. Both will cache the results. Your local names (moon55, et al plus any other device you've named) will only be known by the DNS in the DCErouter.
This is the default setup and does normally not require any setup.

What network setup do you have? A common inner network (192.168.80.x) and an outer (192.168.178.x)? Do you have devices in the outer network accessing the DCErouter?
