Users / UTF-8 characters stripped from FLAC tags
« on: December 19, 2010, 06:39:35 pm »
I have a strange problem that I first thought was in my Linux or Samba-setup, but now I've narrowed it down to be LMCE specific.
What happens is that tracks with non-standard-us-english characters are manipulated, either by LMCE or by Squeezebox Server.
Example:
Tag content before scan:
Track title: Älskad Från Första Stund
Album title: 17 sånger

After Scan:
Track title: (blank)
Album title: 17 s

At the position of the first non-english the tag is truncated.

Any hints?

Some info on the installation:

Version: 7.5.1 - r30836 @ Tue Jun 1 05:57:28 PDT 2010
Hostname: dcerouter
Server IP Address: 192.168.1.78
Server HTTP Port Number: 9000
Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8
Platform Architecture: i686-linux
Perl Version: 5.10.0 - i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi
MySQL Version: 5.0.67-0ubuntu6.1

Latest LMCE.

Users / Re: Spotify?

Not yet, but since Spotify released a beta of a native client, we're getting closer to a point where it could be done.
This would be a really great feature of LMCE!

Users / DCS-5300G(D-link / IP Camera) detected
« on: May 17, 2010, 09:26:51 am »
I have a funny observation: LMCE detect an IP camera. That's nice, considering I have no camera... ;-)
It have happened 2-3 times, also after the last reinstall with the new HW.
It's not any problem per se, I just tell LMCE to ignore it, but there obviously is an error in the Plug'n Play system detecting a device that's not there.

I can provide system information (lspci etc) if someone want's to take a closer look at it.

Some further investigation has shown me there is a link in the folder \home\public\data\other\
SAMSUNG_HD321KJ (sda5) on dcer [37] --> /mnt/device/37

Ignore = On didn't help, but removing the link worked fine.

Only trouble now is there's a lot of duplicates in the database. I've synced to mark the dead media but they still show up in the media browser. Is there a tool to delete the dead media from the database?

Installation issues / Local disk showing up twice
« on: May 16, 2010, 09:19:29 am »
After a few weeks of more or less perfect performance from 8.10b my boot disk shows up twice. This means LMCE have found all media on that disk (like all the videos from the wizards). Looking at Devices, there's a disk under CORE that I suspect shouldn't be there.
SAMSUNG_HD321KJ (sda5) on dcerouter
Could I just mark Ignore = On to get rid of it - or is this supposed to be there?

I also have a 1.5 TB local disk in the same machine, but it's a NTFS/SFS partition and LMCE will not mount it. I suspect the problem is due to this unmountable disk, leading to the wrong disk being mounted.

Any thoughts?

If one of the coaxes doesn't do anything, could you not use it to get the CAT-5 cable in place? Assuming they end up in the right place, you could disconnect the coax in both ends, connect it to the CAT-5 (duct tape or something strong) and then pull the coax until it have been replaced by the CAT-5 in the cable pipe (unsure of the English name).

Users / Re: can't play media files
« on: May 14, 2010, 08:19:57 pm »
I have the same problem and I believe it can have something to do with the version of the NTFS filesystem. When I do a fdisk -l it shows up as type SFS, not NTFS as in Windows. It seems to have something to do with dynamic disks. I don't yet know how to deal with it.

Your second problem also occurs on my rig now and then. It won't play any media, but simply restarting the OS fixes that for a while. No idea yet how to solve that either.

Users / Roxcore DVB-T USB Receiver
« on: February 10, 2010, 10:41:06 pm »
Hi gang!

Today I bought a dirt cheap TV receiver but got into trouble when I realised kernel 2.6.28 might be required (not verified).
Any experiences on upgrading to 2.6.28 or higher? Or should I try finding which modules are required and recompile 2.6.27? Or should I forget this and buy a decent, already supported receiver?

Installation issues / Re: Asrock 330 HT as core
« on: January 31, 2010, 04:38:26 pm »
I'm using an Asroch 330HT as an Orbiter and most is fine but some observations you might benefit from:
- IR receiver chip is not supported by the Linux kernel, nor by Lirc. There is an Ubuntu 9.10 driver, but still I have not made it wotk with 8.10. Without this the remote will not work.
- There are two NICs, one wired and one wireless. When using it as an Orbiter you need to disable one of the interfaces (in my case the wireless) otherwise the boot hangs

As soon as I get the remote to work I'll post a HowTo on the wiki.

Installation issues / Re: Diskless setup failed

Thanks, that did it. Much appreciated.

Strange thing is that I had to rebuild the image manually, nothing happened when trying from the web interface.

I don't think that'll help - I already did it. Before running it the net boot failed all together since it couldn't find any boot files. Or might a second build perhaps do? Yesterday it took several hours to execute the script...

I could have mentioned I'm running 8.10 beta2... ;-)

Installation issues / Re: Diskless setup failed

I have the same problem, but slightly different conditions.
Core/hybrid is an old Pentium4, MD is an ASRock 330 with Atom 330 dual core.

In the web interface I can find the MD as device 38 and all looks OK, architecture is set to i386, same for the Core. But when doing a net boot it comes down to the "Running Diskless_Setup.sh" or "We announced ourselves..." part and then hangs. Just before the architecture is noted as AMD64. When updating the web interface, the architecture for the MD is still i386.
I'm running with a Realtek RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10) driver

Any thoughts on this?
