Further digging into the /etc and found mdadm and then did a cat mdadm.conf and it shows the RAID array..............question is should I just add it via web admin page or will this wipe my existing RAID.....any help very much appreciated as I do not want to lose all my data. I also checked rc0.d and mdadm is in there Hope this info helps see attached Best regards Beeker

Glad it all worked.........just wondering if you have a RAID array?
Had the same issue with 23618 in regards to the DHCP so apart from that everything has worked apart from my post in regards to mdadm and seeing my existing RAID array so I am waiting to see if there is a fix before downloading 23645 as I am on a tight plan from my ISP and can afford to download another 3.5gb only to find out it still has the same issue

I did yesterday and still can't see the RAID when I look from KDE which is strange because it worked that way when I used 23559 so I assumed you just meant reinstall mdadm which I have just done again just now and yet to reboot, should it need another reboot. I have attached a print out out of the reinstall of mdadm and the current printout of dmesg.
I will do another boot and check dmsg and see if it mentions the RAID array, it finds the drives as I can see them listed but that's it and I looking to see a RAID speed test or just a mention of the RAID array
thanks Beeker

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / [SOLVED]Snapshot 23618 Kubuntu not installing mdadm - cant see my RAID5 array

I downloaded Snapshot 23618 and changed sources.list to the the recommended and then started the install and did a update, upgrade and dist upgrade followed by a reboot then apt-get install mdadm for my existing RAID5 and rebooted. When I go and look for the RAID5 in media it's not there and with my basic knowledge I went and had a look in /proc and cannot see mdstat I assuming it is put in there by the mdadm..........any help greatly appreciated. This process worked before with the troubled 23559 snapshot

Hi Han, Just downloading 23618 snapshot to do a complete rebuild and see how it goes, so I am currently playing with the Foxconn again with my current image to test it before I do this new rebuild tomorrow, when I do the modprobe atl1c I am getting a fatal error and I am tipping why the Foxconn gets a kernel panic.
Any ideas
I have checked /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/net/ and atl1c is there if I do a modprobe sky2 it just returns without an error as per below
dcerouter_1006790:~# modprobe atl1c FATAL: Module atl1c not found. dcerouter_1006790:~# modprobe sky2 dcerouter_1006790:~#

I agree lets stop those spamming idiots in there track they recently hijacked another forum I use and completely destroyed it, so if we can put policy's and procedures in place to keep these idiots at bay from causing havoc then I am all for it.........Its about time we try and clean up the internet and get it back to what it was designed for and that is the sharing of information, not cluttered by useless ad's for Viagra etc

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Current Upgrade breaks PXE boot for MD's using Realtek NIC's and possibly others
|
on: January 05, 2011, 12:56:43 am
|
|
After trying snapshot 23559 I gave up as it would not do PXE boots so went back to a old image and all working fine the stupidly then did a update and upgrade and now all my MD's will no longer boot they now all come up with a msg saying "No boot file name received" the same as 23559 so it looks like back to old true and trusted image which still works
Anybody having similar problems or have a suggestion of where I should look, I looked in /usr/pluto/Diskless and it's empty also /tftpboot has no symlinks........go easy not an expert in linux so not 100% sure of what I am looking for Best regards Beeker

Hey Good luck with 23559 it broke my install and can't get a Realtek 8111b or 8111c to boot anymore where they worked with earlier snapshots, I went back to my original image of an earlier snapshot and all good. I think this is going to be your only option as I have spent the last 3 days trying to get the damn thing to do a PXE boot and no luck along with downloading more updates then you can poke a stick at...........................something is broke but nobody can tell me what it is.

Hi Han, Really appreciate all your help sorry but I'm not sure what I am looking for in the logs.........I went to the /var/log directory and there more log files then you poke a stick at, you must be getting sick of all the silly questions.
Do you think its worth doing a fresh install my only concern is my software RAID if I do a new install I want to make sure I don't lose all my data

Hey Han, Just when I thought I everything was perfect the damn Foxconn freezes after about anywhere from a 30secs to a min whilst playing any content, It's running i386 now so I am thinking of downloading one of the latest snapshots to see if this fixes all my issues..........whats your thoughts on this, and do you know if the atl1c module is in the lastest snapshots or will we have to do the wiki procedure again
Cheers Beeker
