I live in the hills in Melbourne Victoria and all the main Melbourne TV transmitters are on top the Mt Dandenong, I am on the side of this mountain literally 400mtrs from the towers but just below and behind them so all we get from them digital reflections so when you use a spectrum analyser you get all the channels but the bit error rate is over the top, so at the moment I have mounted a phased array on the roof and pointed it at Bendigo TV transmitters which are over 200kms away and I pick up Digital TV from there. After reading the forums on the HD Homerun it seemed that it had better tuners than most other available options but so far my TVIX M-5130 box works better as the HD Homerun keeps losing lock so it is a bit frustrating. I am currently looking at putting up another antenna in a pine tree at the front of the house pointing at Como in South Yarra near the CBD so I can get a stronger signal and then most of my problems should disappear. Just for the records my son works at JB HIFI here in Melbourne and so I was able to pick up the HD Homerun for $200.00
So I am awaiting the answers from Mythified before going any further as our household is reliant on watching TV so I want to make sue we have everything set up correctly.

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: VOIP with TPG

Hi Darren, Thanks was up all night on the whirlpool forums lots of valuable info, have tried pinging all of TPG's sip registration servers no luck. Will keep reading and researching as TPG are not going to help unless I buy there equipment. I am sure it must be something to do with the host name as it comes up firstly as "not registered" then comes back as "request sent" which I have not seen before so I am not sure why, I left it for over 24hrs to see if the status would change but no luck the same thing is still there in the web admin screen "Request Sent"

Thanks Mythified I will give that I try.............would you mind clarifying a couple more things for me as I will have to add a 3rd MD soon
1. So if I am watching one channel on a MD in the family room then in theory I should be able to watch a different channel on MD in the Bedroom 2. I assuming then both should be able to be recorded at the same time 3. If so what happens if the kids then start up a 3rd MD in the bedroom and want to watch TV do they just get a msg that TV is "not available" until the tuners become available or I assume they could stop the recordings and start watching live TV. 4. Most important question so I can better understand the architecture of the system can more than 2 x MD directors use the one HD Homerun at the same time or am I going to have to buy more, as I would like to be able to at least record one program whilst watching another on the Family room MD whilst the kids are watching live TV in there room 5. Lastly if I am at work and the family are currently watching two different channels on different MD's and I want to use Mythweb to record my favorite show at the same time can I select that program and start recording it, or do I have to set some priority within mythtv or is someone at home watching there channel suddenly going to see my channel whilst it is recording.
Sorry for the number of questions though once I better understand the limitations I will be able to use the system to it's full advantage. just got to get better digital reception as I live on the side of a mountain surrounded by pine trees and the reception is a bit dodgy at times.
Cheers and thanks again for your advice Beeker

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Does anybody have TPG VOIP in Australia working with 810 b2

Hoping some has some thoughts, I was using Pennytel temporarily for my VOIP until I could sort out a deal with TPG here in Oz and I must say the plan is not to bad 500mins free VOIP per month but they get you, as the min call is 10min. After you have used up your 500mins then you get charged 10c a call so overall it's not a bad deal. The only downside is that unless you buy there Dynalink ADSL Modem with VOIP then they offer very limited help, though they have sent me the following settings and I have put in the appropriate settings in the phone line config in the web admin page using aphone6.tpg.com.au as the host and the screen says Request Sent but it never registers...........by the way I have a Dynalink 502T which worked fine with Pennytel VOIP and I have ordered a Linksys ATA adapter to connect up our analogue phones ....does anybody have any ideas
Here are the VOIP settings you requested: Interface Name: pppoe_8_35_1 SIP Transport Protocol: UDP Port: 5060 VoIP Service Provider: Others SIP Registrar Address, SIP Outbound Proxy and SIP Proxy Server Address: aphone6.tpg.com.au Ports: all on 5060 Phone Number and Username: xxxxxxxx Password: your TPG password

I have mythtv 0.22 on 810 b2 running with a HD Homerun on the network here in Oz and I am feeding the same signal into both tuners how can I utilise both tuners i.e. one MD uses one tuner and another MD uses the other one....little bit confused have done a channel scan in mythtv setup and both tuners find the same channels......I was thinking I will have to rename the double up's something like ABC HDTV and ABC HDTV-1 so I can distinguish between the tuners. As usual any help is much appreciated

fell for that one as well.......spent the whole day reinstalling then working out how to downgrade mythtv back to 0.22 once I did that all working again. Just have to learn how to fully use mythtv........it was Mavericks post that got things back on track.......... let me say I wont be doing a apt-get dist-upgrade in the near future after losing a day and having to go through all that pain again.

thanks...........just frustrated after everything was working before I added the hd homerun then someone suggested to do a apt-get update & upgrade and that's when it turned to custard now I cant even get another md to to boot up...........problem is running out of internet as everytime I do a reinstall it's soaking up so much of my allowable downloads and if I go over I get throttled back to 64k which is no good if you have to put up with that for nearly a month. Still reseaching and trying different things but just cant get anywhere........will jump back on irc and see if I have any luck.........like wise if I end up fixing I will post and thanks for your support...............best of luck as well

After trashing my core and also going out and spending $200 to buy a HD Homerun, I have reinstalled 810 b2 only to find myth tv now does not work....is this a current bug do I have to downgrade myth to get the hd homerun working here in Australia. I have only done a apt-get update & upgrade is there anything I am missing here it can't be that hard. The hd homerun has been detected and then I go to the computing page and there is no myth setup, also if I click on TV on a orbiter all the boxes go black and then you get the blue screen of death saying myth frontend has died any help would be much appreciated before the lot ends up on the front lawn

thanks much appreciated feedback. I have just done fresh install and have only done apt-get update on the core/hybrid, so should I do apt-get dist-upgrade as well and the other question should I do both of those commands on my other md.
And lastly I do both of these commands on the core/hybrid and md's on a regular basis
