I'm running 8.10 and had the same problem, but once I manually edited the device template, all is well.  The latest updates do not have the fix for 8.10, so I'm hoping those will also get fixed.

I'm glad someone else had the same problem I had for once.

I just did an apt-get update/upgrade on my 8.10 core to fix an issue I had, and it fails to complete the upgrade.  When I run it again, I get the following:

I changed the Lucid entry to Intrepid and all of those updates disappeared.  Much happier now.  There is a pluto-database update available though.

Thanks!

I just did an apt-get update / upgrade earlier in the week, and ran it again tonight to see if anything else was available to fix an issue I'm having with my Gyration 4101 remote.  When I ran it tonight, it shows the following files are ready for update.  Is this for real?  I don't see anything on the forum indicating a large update is available..

Users / Re: MythTV not working with Gyration Remote after update
« on: October 28, 2011, 01:01:38 am »
Any ideas?  Lots of views but no replies.  IT also seems to be more than just MythTV.  From the Orbiter, I used to be able to just press the 'TV' button and MythTV would launch.  Now that does not work either.  There are other symptoms which are pointing back to the LMCE app, and not MythTV.

Does anyone know how I can back out the update?

Users / MythTV not working with Gyration Remote after update
« on: October 26, 2011, 04:49:52 am »
I performed an apt-get update / upgrade a few days ago, and since then my Gyration remote no longer works with MythTV.  I've checked the xorg.conf file and the configurations for the Gyration remote, and all looks correct, but the remote does not work correctly with MythTV anymore.  It still controls LMCE fine.  I see a thread talking about the MythTV plug-in having problems, but this update should've fixed that.  Any thoughts on why the remote stopped working?  It's the same problem on multiple MD's with multiple remotes.

Thanks,

That would be great if you could send me (or post) the configs that you have.  I'm running it through the DVI interface right now, and would love to get HDMI up and running.

Thanks!

Found the fix.  Needed to add:

    Option         "UseEdidDpi" "False"
    Option         "DPI" "96 x 96"

to xorg.conf since it's an nVidia card.

I have 4 of the nt330i's running as MD's and they work great.  There were some issues with the NIC drivers, but the wiki does a great job walking you through that.  I'm going to put up a new wiki with my complete build when I figure out how to add a wiki page (and get some time)..  HD video works great, but I suggest loading them up with memory.  I've got 2Gb of memory in them now, and it uses all of it when I'm playing a movie.  Fan runs all the time basically, but it's not that loud (especially compared to a normal sized pc).  Overall, I'm very happy with my set up using the Foxconn's and will buy another when I get the need.  Only outstanding issue I've got is HDMI sound, but I'll figure it out eventually.  I see others using XBMC have had similar issues, so it's a common problem.

Thanks, but I've done the changes to the xorg.conf file and they caused the same problem.  Not sure what changed, but X doesn't like the 'old' way of doing this.  Does anyone know what was changed in the latest release to cause this, or have a work around?

Thanks

Users / Small fonts issue after upgrade to latest 8.10 packages
« on: September 17, 2011, 03:06:24 pm »
After doing the apt-get update/upgrade for the latest 8.10 packages, I've lost the settings that set my dpi for my 40" LCD to larger fonts.  When I reboot, the 'Loading LinuxMCE' messages are all extremely small, and my desktop and web browser fonts unreadable.

The fix for this in the past was to edit /usr/pluto/bin/Start_X_Wrapper.sh and add -dpi 96 to the end of the xinit line.  Unfortunately, if I try that now, X doesn't start up.  The MD will display the start up commands such as stopping and starting Samba daemons, and then it just stays at a command prompt screen displaying messages, but X never starts.  I also tried to add a dpi command to xorg.conf under monitor (dpi  96 x 96), but I get the same results.  Seems X doesn't like the dpi setting anymore.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Installation issues / Re: Ultimate Goal of LinuxMCE
« on: July 28, 2011, 03:38:29 am »
I too want to say 'Thank You' to all of those who develop and support LMCE.  I started with it a year or two ago on a VM to just see how it stacked up to the competition.  I'm cheap by nature, so I didn't want to purchase anything off-the-shelf when you're stuck with what it offers and can't customize it to your needs.  LMCE fits the bill for those of us who may not know how to do everything, but aren't afraid to take some risks and try it to see.

I now have a full LMCE system running with 4 MD's and the core.  It has enabled me to centrally control my X10 lighting, TV's, DVR, Movies, Music, Pictures, etc and even allowed me to drop DISH Network and do everything over the air or over the Internet.  My goal was to replace my existing capabilities and provide some cool enhancements for the family.  Needless to say, we've now got the most overcomplicated home network on the block, but at the same time, they're all asking me how I did it.

LMCE is not for the timid, that's for sure.  But if you're willing to do a little legwork, and learn a little along the way, it's the BEST system out there for what it does.  It'll probably never be ready for Joe User to just install it and go, but there's nothing out there like that today that has the same features and capabilities.

The LMCE community is more than willing to help each other out, and that is why I chose this product to go with.  If you're having problems installing it, don't feel intimidated.  There's not one of us out here who has had a perfect installation, but we ask questions to get the answers we need.

I'm assuming that it would also get over-written by future updates as well, based on your comment.  No worries.  I'll put something the feature request section, as it would be nice to have some level of customization ability.

Thanks
