1  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: NEWS: rc Time on: August 24, 2011, 04:20:51 am
I installed RC 1 today, and I've got to say that it ROCKS!  I've got MythTV working, have watched a bit of a DVD, and installed a couple of orbiters with no issues!  I wish I could buy everyone who put work into this a drink.  Ya'll certainly deserve it!

Cheers,
Jerry

I appreciate the quick response, Thom, but it has been like that for 4 days.  Is there a way for me to cancel the install?

I'm having the same problem now... I get to a screen that says, "Installing: lmce-mame-metadata" and it stops.... any ideas?
4  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / MythTV - No UPnP backends found on: March 20, 2010, 03:14:32 am
ok, so I just installed my hvr1600, and selected TV from my hybrid's OSD.  It takes me to a setup screen asking for my language preference.  Then I have a screen pop up that says, "MythTV seems to have died...reboot."  I can exit from that screen and select my language.  At this point, I get a warning: "No UPnP backends found."  I press enter and get to the database configuration page 1/2.  My settings are:

Hostname: 192.168.30.100  (this is the ip of my hybrid)
Port: (left blank)
Username: Jerry
Password: (My LMCE password)

I then get an error saying I cannot login, and when I press enter it takes me back to my starting OSD.

As always, thanks for the widsom in advance.

Thanks guys, I couldn't have done it without you.  Hopefully I can pay it forward some day.
6  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / HVR 1600 in Beta2 on: March 16, 2010, 02:58:57 am
I was curious if anyone has had any luck installing an HVR 1600 in Beta2.  I had a good install running, then I installed by HVR 1600 and haven't been able to get MCE to load since.  This is on my hybrid machine.  My box will load to a point where it asks for my dcerouter login, but will not let me login.

I followed the instructions from here:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HVR-1600#Workaround_for_NVIDIA_restricted_driver_users
but I'm still not having any luck.

Am I just blind and missing the forum or wiki pages that show me how to get this card working?

As always, thanks in advance for the help - you guys are the best!

Thanks a million for the help here!  One thing that I found for the dvdcss was that I had to use "sudo apt-get install libdvdcss2"
8  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: AV Wizard Repeats 0810 Fresh Install on: February 22, 2010, 05:02:22 am
Well, right after I made my initial post, I ended up getting busy and having to put my MCE project on hold for a few weeks.  However, i did want to post the resolution to my problem.  After installing Kubuntu I was able to download the 190 drivers from Nvidia and install them.  Once the video drivers were installed and activated I was able to successfully install 810.  Thanks a million for everyone's help!

I'm doing a fresh install of 0810, and during the initial AV wizard, I can get to step 4, then the display resets and brings me back to step one, after which I cannot go any further.  I am using my vga connection.

My motherboard is an abit NF7, video card is a Biostar Geforce 6200A.

I'll admit that I'm a noob to MCE, so just let me know if you need some more information.
