Installation issues / deb.linuxmce.org down?

I just tried to update/upgrade and I get the following at the end of the out put

Installation issues / All orbiter text has disapeared 1004

I've had a usable 1004 installation for a while now and today after a reboot all orbiter text on every orbiter is missing, images with text are still there (i.e. lights media climate buttons on the on screen orbiter and UI1 on mobile orbiters) but the text displaying the titles of media and the synopsis etc aren't showing up, there a are just blank spaces, not even the user room and time show up on the main on screen orbiter page.

I was using a auto install script for rtorrent and rutorrent before i rebooted, but I have used this for a while and ran it several times.  Because I've ran it several times it has been assigning different ports to rutorrent (the latest being 23877-79) could this be causing a conflict?

As i said I have used this script before without issue, perhaps it is unrelated

I've tried full regen of all orbiters followed by reload of router and reboot but this hasn't fixed it and I have no idea where to look next.

Any help would be much apreciated

Installation issues / [SOLVED] problem building media director

Hi I have recently been trying to build a media director using PXE boot.
At first I was getting a "cant find kernel error" but I discovered there was no MD# folder under tftboot and obviously no symlinks to vmlinuz and initrd.img here either.  So i created those and the build progressed. (the MD# folder dispapears when I rebuild the MD via webUI)

now it freezes at "done rebuilding nis cache"

cycling through using ctrl alt and f keys I can see

"Error 1045 (28000): access denied for user 'root @ ...."

any ideas ?

the last one was resolved by swapping NICs but mine are already eth0 for external eth1 for internal
I'm using the following snapshot
 LinuxMCE-8.10-24012-i386.iso     25-May-2011 20:16  
Gonna try rebuilding my core with the latest snapshot tonight nut any help woul dbe apreciated

Feature requests & roadmap / Media organising hierarchy

I realise this has been discussed before and often draws some heated debate, but I can’t find the specific answer in previous threads.
Is there any way to organise by multiple attributes in a hierarchical manner i.e.  Season > Episode > Title
It mostly relates to TV series tagged from imdb or TVdb.
Here’s an example with the auto tagging from TVdb I get the following attributes (amongst others)

Episode                01
Episode                British Are Coming
Release Date        Season 1
Title                     Allo! Allo!

This results in them being sorted by title alphabetically, the episode tag is effectively ignored. At the minute if I want to view all my Allo! Allo! Episodes in season and episode order I would have to rename the attributes like this

Episode              01
Episode              01 British Are Coming
Release Date      Season 1
Title                    Allo! Allo! Season 1

If you could sort by
Title> Release Date > Episode > Episode

Then it would be perfect.  I suppose there would need to be some distinction between the episode tags or use another attribute for the episode title.

There already seems to be some hierarchy (Title>Episode).  I was wondering where this is coded and if it would be possible to add a user defined hierarchy

Feature requests & roadmap / Multi Touch orbiter ideas

I've been playing with the idea of making a multi touch coffee table (see http://nuigroup.com/forums/) recently and ideas of how to integrate it and use it with linuxmce have been buzzing around my head, then I stumbled upon this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tio5OvIqToc
A lot of cool stuff, particularly flicking media towards to the TV to play or display it.
With the recent explosion in popularity of tablet pcs it could be a good addition to LinuxMCE.

I'm willing to input however I can only programming i know is a bet of web stuff, but i taught myself that and I'm always looking for projects, if someone pointed me in the right direction I could start teaching myself what I need.

Installation issues / Differences in info displayed on onscreen orbiter and web orbiter

I've been tagging some TV shows from IMDB, the title attribute was filled in automatically and I added the episode tag manually.
In the web orbiter when I am browsing videos it shows the title (fetched from IMDB) and the episode tag right after it.
However when I lookup the same file in the onscreen orbiter all that is displayed is the title.

Is there any way I can get the OSO to display like the WO?  Not much point in having 20 episodes saying "Battlestar Galactica Season 1" with no way to distinguish them.

Installation issues / RFID reader (Mir:ror by violet) and possible uses

Hi all,

Got my LinuxMCE system running fairly well now and I was wanting to try and use my mir:ror (a commercially available RFID device, see http://www.violet.net/_mirror-give-powers-to-your-objects.html) to trigger scenarios.

The mir:ror is capable of launching files
So I was wondering if there are commands to launch scenarios from comand line, as I could add these to a script and get them to launch.

For example I could have a little rabbit with RFID chip (see violets page if this makes no sense) which when placed on the mir:ror will activate a sleep scenario turning of any lights and AV equipment. (Could even dress the rabbit in pyjamas to distinguish him, :-) )

Or I could have a RFID tag on my keys so when I dropped then the mir:ror when I get in it could turn on the TV ready for me to veg on the couch after a hard days work.  Or start playing any voicemails.

It would require violets program to be running on KDE desktop so it’s really just a work around.  I've never really done much coding but I'd be happy to work on a proper implementation if someone pointed me in the right direction.  It would also may be better to use the phidget readers since they don’t rely on violets software (which requires a net connection) but using the mir:ror for now would allow us to see how RFID triggered events might play out.

If it's something that works I would even consider getting an RFID implant so I can trigger events at the wave of a hand (http://www.amal.net/rfid.html)
Then I could have an RFID reader on my bedside table, combined with scenarios and day/night events it could activate sleep scenario at night and then if you setup a time triggered event in the morning to turn on music and lights (acting as an alarm clock) you could wave your hand over the sensor to snooze or cancel the alarm.

As you can see I'm full of ideas for this :-), and these are just of the top of my head, there are I am sure many other applications.  I think it could add a lot of handy functionality in terms of automation.
