LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Squeezeslaves on Core (Dianemo S)

Hi Coley, Thanks for the help with that, starting to make much more sense. I used the Dianemo S wiki page [http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S#Adding_SqueezeSlave_Devices] i just reviewed the Linuxmce Squeezelave page and there are many more steps than what i have taken following the Dianemo page. Particularly in relation to editing /etc/rc.local Without knowing the differences between Dianemo and Linuxmce in this instance, is it necessary to modify rc.local?
aplay -l returned no sound cards found
Thanks

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Squeezeslaves on Core (Dianemo S)

Hi everyone, I am setting up additional rooms with audio and have been attempting to setup new Squeezeslaves following the directions on the Dianemo S wiki page using some usb sound cards similar to the startac 7.1. I have previously been able to setup an iPad running iPeng and also easily setup a headless softsqueeze player on a windows pc both work very nicely. However, I cannot get the squeezeslaves to be recognised on LMS, and therefore play. I think it is a mac addressing issue (from looking at the errors in the log for the slim server streamer), but as far as I can tell this shouldn't be the case. Each new slave has a mac that is unique and the squeezeslave and player have the same details. I have a single Slim Server streamer which is working for the iPad and the soft squeeze.
Any help in the right direction would be appreciated.
Thanks
Garath

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Dianemo S - configuring cisco7970

Hi Andrew, I am trying to configure two cisco7970 phones with no luck. The wiki instructions deal mostly with configuration under LMCE with plug and play. Are there additional manual configurations required, or are there other changes under DIANEMO S preventing these from working. Cheers Garath

LinuxMCE / Users / Re: lmce-autotagger ?

@ Donpaul3
Hi Donpaul, any chance of a write-up, steps etc to get auto-tagger on a Dianemo system? Whilst I love the new movie tagger, i have no option for all my tv shows and other clips. A simple apt-get install doesn't seem to work. I am assuming it is because of Dianemo use separate repositories? Sorry, still learning the Linux ropes. In fact any guidance generally for adding lmce packages to Dianemo would be really helpful as i would love to get Tschak's game player onto my system also?
Thanks All
Garath

Hi Davegravy I am not looking for any out of the ordinary functionality, just looking for a useable remote X11 session. FreeNX and Nomachine run over SSH with the advantage caching and compression. Nomachine seemed to address my needs simply and without too much issue including printing, sound and file sharing remotely. So listening to music, accessing documents etc remotely was appealing to me. Yes X11 forwarding over SSH is the same thing from what I am reading and can achieve the same thing but seemed rather difficult to configure and setup. Nomachine als has a web player that looks to run on almost all web devices including mobile to access the session. Which is handy as my work has locked down all installation of any software usb and access to external media etc. However, quite a noob with all this, so please share your ideas.
Cheers Garath

Hi All, I am looking at options for remote access desktop GUI sessions from my Core to have remote access to my desktop for file sharing, access to programs etc. I have chosen to look at these options rather than VNC to allow multiple users and multiple sessions and also not disrupt any usage on the Hybrid. Its secure and clients are available for windoze, Mac and linux. So the question is has anyone, tried or have running a similar setup? Having not had a lot of experience with linux, are there any possible caveats I should be looking for with interoperability with Linuxmce (I am running Dianemo s10.10 at present)? Any comments, suggestions and they like are more than appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Garath

LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Sound Card Options

Thanks Andrew, I had pretty much resolved myself to this after reading the wiki page. Although i would like to point out the advice to go down the GT220 or above route came from Winston. Regardless of this, do you have any recommendations for a usb based sound card that may work preferrably plug and play? The wiki only refers to PCI based cards.
Thanks Garath

LinuxMCE / Users / Sound Card Options

Hi guys, I am probably missing a simple option here but any advice would be great. I decided to add an Asus 1gb ENGT220 graphics card to my Dianemo 710 system and utlise it as the main MD in the living room. The problem I encountered is that I wasn't able to use HDMI audio after rerunning the audio/video setup. Checking the wiki it seems this is an issue with my MB according to this http://wiki2.linuxmce.org/index.php/NVidia_GT220_HDMI_sound (although i think the Asus P7M-F WS should read P7F-M instead??) So although I have great video, no sound. Easiest thing would be to use the pci sound card, except I had to remove this as the heatsink from the card blocks the adjacent PCI slot! I want to be able to use at least 5.1 audio so digital output is essential, anybody had any experience with decent usb or other sound cards which might fit the bill? Cheers Garath

Hi Andrew, Unfortunately I have not been able to get the new version to work. I followed your earlier post and have ensured IP settings are correct etc. Is the new version only compatible with Dianemo 10.10 as I don't think that my Nerve Centre has updated to the newest version yet.
