Hi Guys,
I have inherited two new Helios 2n (non IP) doorphones which I am keen to have integrated as doorphones; one for the front and one on the back door using an ata. I have been reviewing the wiki and see that there is a notation that using a phone registered to ext 994 cannot be verified. I am still waiting on the ata before I can test but am interested if anybody currently has a working doorphone setup like this running 14.04? Other than this issue, is there any limitation to having a secondary doorphone with a different ext?

Installation issues / Linuxmce as a secondary Z-Wave controller

Hi all,
I am attempting to configure my core as a secondary controller to my Vera 3 z-wave controller. Currently my Vera 3 system is stable and functional and currently consists of lighting control but will shortly be a couple of door locks. My preferance is to maintain the Vera 3 as the primary for the time being given its stability, door lock compatibility, geofencing and Alexa integration.

I am using an Aeonlabs S2 usb inclusion controller in my core to bridge the controllers.

So far i have tried to initiate suc/sis mode following wiki instructions with no luck and trasferring the Vera 3 configuration to the S2 controller and initiate download with both Sarah and diretly through webadmin.

I would like to get to a similiar setup as JaseP and have followed his steps identified in several alebit older forum posts. Is there any active users who are using this same setup that could assist?

It was some time ago that I made enquiries on status of rpi, so wasn't aware of the work on VDR. It sounds positive that vdr will find a place on rpi and as you point out does everything else as well as cec control.

Taking this into account and Exploring the rpi option:

- Noting Thoms very recent and impressive beta work on vlc player, will this be supported in the rpi build?
- Qorbiter on rpi I read is in progress, is there a likely time frame on this work?
- in your experience are the rpi3 playing well with mkv?

In asking, by no means am I looking for a definative time frame or to set an expectation for others I am merely trying to understand where my efforts are best directed.

If I can back track a little, and doing a big of extra forum searching hdmi matrix seems to be a mixed bag. Are there device templates or work that is needed or is this new device, database work? It seems that the Dianemo approach is not compatible or at least readily adaptable for use with Linuxmce?

The matrix is serial controlled, I was hoping to use it as more of a multiple hdmi switch rather than matrix all outputs simultaneously etc. That said, thanks for the feedback.

Virtualizing mds was due to no vdr/myth on rpi and looking forward for gpu intensive uses such as game player (waiting with hope and patience for Thoms  work) and UI2. These would be for living areas where live TV for example is desired. Set-top boxes are no longer useful nor affordable in Australia these days.

I3/i5 Nuc or equivalent would quickly see me spending another good chunk of cash with Aud prices. Hence the option for vm and leverage some existing power.

Hi all,
After spending far too much time and effort chasing support from Dianemo and sadly ending up with no further contact and no system, I am Looking to build a new Linuxmce system and get back into it. I have a new replacement system and considering virtualizing the core and two mds. The hardware, bios and cpu support vt-d so running proxmox and with a couple of gpu I am hoping to passthrough a card for each md and distribute via hdmi matrix.

Thanks to user Deepb for the inspiration and wiki entry.

I have zwave lighting devices and will be looking to utilize my aeon labs usb controller and usb sound card for squeezeslaves and a Hd homerun for broadcast tv. So other than working my way through proxmox setup and virtualize networking and pxe boot for mds in vm, are there any immediate pitfalls for this approach that other experienced users can advise?

I am also keen to setup remote access, qorbiter, a couple of rpi md and better tv and movie tagging with linuxmce. Can anybody provide a quick status update on how these aspects are / are not implemented?

Thank-you for the clarification Phenigma. With regard to the RPI2, Dianemo went down a path that no longer saw the MD integrated into the system only a UPNP media renderer and not a controller. I am looking for RPI2 to be a full MD, or at least understand what it cannot do at the moment (ie. MythTV). My install is neither large, nor complex with regard to automation atm. Only some zwave lights/motion sensors and ip cams. But the media is important. So RPI2 may be an option in part.

Regarding QOrbiter, not a criticism only seeking clarification  :D - Thankyou.

Hi all. I have been following this development as I too have been having ongoing and unresolved issues with Dianemo. Having outlaid monies already for hardware now no longer supported by Dianemo a low cost, low power option has sparked my enthusiasm. One thing holding my back somewhat is whether Mythtv front end is possible on an RPI2 MD with Linuxmce and if QT5 orbiter is functional yet. It appears from Langston's work that QT5 is only available on iOS and Android? Is this correct? Is mythTV possible with ODroid core and RPI2 MD? I would be looking to use dual HDHome run for DVB-T. What are the current limitations from a standard pxe boot MD that RPI2 cannot support?

In previous posts regarding Athena UI you have discussed user configurable skins using html editors etc. Can separate skins be used to run on different devices? I am specifically interested in designing a UI for tv osd control which mimics current UI2 but in a vertical form. This would be separate from the UI used on tablets and or phones.

I am wanting to retain on screen UI on many of my tvs and am interested in the best approach with Athena to do this. This seemed the better place to pose this, but please move as required.

I just purchased an Rpi2 preview licence but also currently run an x86 system that I've run from early Dianemo 710 times. Can you provide any update as to the development path / life of x86 platform and how Rpi is likely to diverge from it. I am particularly interested in the media server and control changes as the Dianemo approach has changed a lot in this area over the years to be focussed more on control over separate hardware devices (PVR, STBS etc,) rather than a server/client software based approach.

Can you elaborate any further on what Athena UI will mean for MDs running UI2? We would like to retain live broadcast tv and live satellite tv with our install.

I am aware of options for connecting an raspbmc-cec myth tv front end and controlled locally, but my understanding is Dianemo will not know what is playing, cannot control it and all follow me options are unavailable.

If I may weigh in. A few main points on MDs and why as a user I continue to use them and would be disappointed to see them relegated to a unsupported system.

Number one for me is Cost. An ip controllable HDMI matrix, HDMI endpoints, multiple set top boxes/STBs = multiplying the cost to every-room and every zone you add. You can add 'smarts' to any display with a relatively low cost MD and a remote.

I enjoy the ability to control any zone/room from and zone/room without having to have a dedicate room controller (ie. iPad) in each room. Call us 'old skool' but we also prefer to flick through with a remote rather than always use an ipad, ipod touch etc.

The philosophy of LinuxMCE/Dianemo is the central home control. Not just single point to point but in addition multipoint and the ability to move that media/user experience between rooms seamlessly. This includes the same UI, the same control process and access to all media in all rooms. As well as lighting, heating etc. controls. In your model, the only UI is on the mobile orbiter.

Telecom, Game player and surveillance cameras are not considered here yet within the thread. Whilst I agree that the most used component of the system is media, it is the integration of all these smart home systems in one point and turning any display device into a controller and viewer that got me so enthused in the system.

In having said this, not all times is there a need to have a UI and consistent user experience. I use media players and upnp in conjunction with squeezeslaves and traditional MD to get a mix throughout the home. I would just hate to see them become unsupported.

I am more referring to the use of tv shows ripped from DVD series. Each episode has been ripped as separate file and labelled as such. Currently there is a tremendous amount of work to tag manually the information on these files on an individual basis through webadmin. I am simply looking for any alternative to doing this as I ideally want dianemo control over all aspects of system to take advantage of whole house media of the system. WAF isn't very high when no details are available for tvshows.

So are there any plans to implement such a tool within dianemo if auto tagged isn't currently supported?

Hi Andrew,
Ideally yes I wish to pxe boot both devices as MM and have the option to reboot these devices from internal Hdd to run openelec. This is due to the way dianemo handles (ripped) tvshows presently (refer to other post).

Whilst PXE boot was initiated successfully, I have been unable to control the power state of these devices (either boot or shutdown) from orbiter (any orbiter; including the onscreen of the device). The system shows the power state as "off" on floor plan but it cycle through shutdown confirmation.

Power on commands are also not working despite WoL settings being on in bios. 

Separate to this is, that unlike a previous MM I do not have an option to restart MM from internal HDD on orbiter. So rebooting openelec from HDD isn't an option.

I appreciate that Rpi's are being used in this way. This doesn't relate to orbiter information though. My question was in regard to the metadata and tagging of tvshows and the like and improving the manner in which tv show data is added to media grids and whether the auto tagging tool can be added to a dianemo install. I note another Dianemo user made reference to doing this. My reference to xbmc is only to illustrate that the tvdb scrapper is able to reference tv shows tagged appropriately. The upnp function of dianemo yes can reference an xbmc library, but This doesn't deal with the metadata issue.
