Has anyone attempted anything?

-Thom

I did some very unimpressive things before I got sick. I am out of the hospital now and will spend the next 3 days doing this. I mean... the qt interface is pretty much drag and drop... so you can do really pretty things pretty easily... I was trying to get into alpha layering and PIP... so most of the time I have invested is just reading.

I will just do what you asked first so that there is at least some measure of progress.

NM, I thought whatever followed name required quotes, and saw your end quote.

Flash in general seems problematic on latest image. I watched it install during setup... but can't watch youtube or other flash content now.

Just follow hardware requirements, and even if you do not stream media, you will have a low cost system. Better yet, grab a working system from http://lmcecompatible.com/ .

When hangs at pxelinux.0 switch to tty8 and see what is there.

I attempted to MDize an HP laptop (dv6000) for the first time this week, with a geforce go 7300. On initial create it dlds and attempts to install 175 nforce driver. That never completes... it gets to the end and says working 99% forever. Cannot get to a terminal there... ctrl alt del interrupts the hang, and it seems to continue installing things... to a point. On reboot tty2 just displays

filename  : /tftpboot/pxelinux.0

If you switch to tty8

and hang. I cannot find this laptop to have ever been used as an md... and it may not be able to. Just thought I would share. I have ssh'd from the core and installed the 195 driver directly, but on reboot does this same dance. Not really asking for assistance... just didn't know if it was helpful.

(this is an amd64. I changed this to i386 before first reboot of MD after it announced to router, and rebuilt image, and rebooted core)

On the 3.3GB snapshot, I just remembered, I was able to get through AVWiz... then got busy and reinstalled before fooling with it anymore.

I did 2 installs yesterday on different cores of snapshot 23049 and no Myth setup.

Update and upgrade do nothing after fresh installs.

I was thinking of using smaller thumbs and including space for a resized pip for active video... I then realized that I am looking at a huge TV, and would have to keep in mind a smaller one. Would have to function differently than a mobile orbiter... or waste space.

Worthwhile for this exercise?
970  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: zwave metadata on: June 07, 2010, 11:24:44 am
Wow... very nice.

It is my understanding that zwave has a metadata class... which is how sirius radio makes remotes that words are transmitted to... but I was wondering if I could use that data for other purposes. If I can send strings over zwave as metadata and interpret them (lol), it is a possible solution for many things. It was my understanding that the primary difficulty in utilizing it is some sort of limitation of that data. Everything I have read has been vague. Was just an idea, and thought you might have a fast answer.

ugh.

I am truly truly... truly sorry

Dream not.
Do.
Simple.

Nobody is gonna take your idea and run.

Nobody is gonna feel bad because the thing you want isn't implemented, except you.
972  LinuxMCE / Users / zwave metadata on: June 05, 2010, 05:46:47 am
I think this question is for hari... but will take an answer from anyone.

Can anyone tell me the limitations on zwave metadata? Google is not my friend on this issue. I think what I am needing to create is a zwave on/off contact strip which reports current draw to the system.
973  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Lets fix "I detected a new plug and play device: DCS-5300(D-LINK / IP CAMERAS on: June 05, 2010, 05:19:27 am
Ok the forum is scatted with "I detected a new plug and play device: DCS-5300(D-LINK / IP CAMERAS) should I use it" but i have not found a fix or any way to find out what it is.
It pops up around 5 maybe ten times a day, i don't what to say do not use and never show me again, I want to know what it is.

WebAdmin under unknown devices has nothing listed

I just want this post to be the one stop place to fixing this, and not get a reply to look in the forums.

In my case this is a 4 cam pci dvr card I haven't had time to fool with, but only introduces itself once (of course I always say this is the correct hardware so it doesn't bug me anymore), listed under "show device tree".

What devices do you have attached that are not working, or "unusual" wireless devices observable devices do you have on your wireless network?
974  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: Clutter Exercise: Media List on: June 05, 2010, 05:06:37 am
Learning qt.

Can you point me to the lmce side to where to draw this off of DB? I am obviously green.

By scroll off of the bottom, do you mean simple up/down or left/right buttons... or do you mean more advanced scrolling like ui2?
975  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: WAF wins out. on: June 05, 2010, 03:35:47 am
You are either clueless or a troll.  Clearly unable to understand what I have written while trying to change the meaning around.  No point in trying to explain what has already been explained, you'll never get it.  Thank you for staying out of my thread, now that you've turned it into a flame war.

Mods - you may as well lock this thread, it's pointless now.

I am a recovering troll.

I am sorry.

No hard feelings. I have just been in similar situations, and I am a frustrated little man.

Olive branch.
