16  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: 1004 - QNAP NAS - AXIS CAMERA - ATOM n330i on: March 04, 2013, 01:14:01 am
re nvidia

please give me the output of:
lspci -nn | grep VGA
dpkg-query -l  nvidia* | grep ^ii

QNAP never queried you? Unplug and plug it in again. Also check the ethernet cable going to the MD... make sure moving it to another location doesn't make it fast.
17  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Sources list? on: March 02, 2013, 06:23:54 am
yup... that's it. Don't worry about ign... worry about err from mirrors. Been good lately but has problems when a local repo are... not working right.
18  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Multiple sound cards, selected at random? on: March 02, 2013, 05:43:56 am
AG  try this

Code:
wget -P /usr/pluto/bin http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/export/27256/people/l3mce/SetCardRules
chmod +x /usr/pluto/bin/SetCardRules

Then you can either run /usr/pluto/bin/SetCardRules or add that line to a0start_avwizard after CheckVideoDriver
This will run every boot obviously, and if a change is detected in cards, it will cement the new structure as they are added/removed. If you remove the card you have chosen previously in avwiz, avwiz will have to be run again... unless it was replaced with the same thing in the same physical slot.

I am going to need one of you in chat... better yet ssh access... but it is not clear to me what is breaking.
20  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Multiple sound cards, selected at random? on: March 01, 2013, 01:28:42 pm
I am using trunk as a testing repo... as prescribed. Once I know things work I will move them into repo. This, for instance, is the wrong approach.

I need to create udev rules, as currently if you have 5 of the same sound cards, this will not prevent slot flopping.
21  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Multiple sound cards, selected at random? on: February 28, 2013, 11:10:03 pm
For now... I have dumped this into 1004 trunk. Armorgnome, please replace your /usr/pluto/bin/AVWizard_Run.sh with this
http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/export/27234/trunk/src/AVWizard/scripts/AVWizard_Run.sh

reboot to AVWizard, finish, then please pastebin your /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

Thanks!

This goes for anyone with more than 2 soundcards listed in aplay -l
22  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: ATI GPUs that can use fglrx (HD2xxx +) on: February 27, 2013, 04:41:45 pm
Just the ATI machine.

Please report your results. We do not have VAAPI support in 1004, but performance should still be much better than the radeon driver.
23  LinuxMCE / Users / ATI GPUs that can use fglrx (HD2xxx +) on: February 27, 2013, 02:38:53 am
I wasn't able to squeeze it in quick enough for final release. I did not have enough testing time... however it worked on the scale machines... well... the method anyway...

Download this Utils.sh and replace yours with it in /usr/pluto/bin
http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/export/27224/trunk/src/BootScripts/Utils.sh
Code:
cd ~/Documents
sudo -i
<enter password>

Code:
wget http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/export/27224/trunk/src/BootScripts/Utils.sh
cat ./Utils.sh > /usr/pluto/bin/Utils.sh
apt-get remove --purge fglrx
rm /etc/X11/xorg.con*
apt-get update
reboot

This is going to take a LONG time. It has to upgrade your kernel, and as everything uses dkms these days, I have to do some trickery with the headers. This upgrade, on a weakly powered MD, can take up to 3 hours. DO NOT INTERRUPT!!! Yes it unpacks headers forever... and does it like 3 times.

If that isn't quite enough to get the job done do this after.

Code:
apt-get -y remove --purge xorg-driver-fglrx fglrx* --force-yes
apt-get -y install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-glx libgl1-mesa-dri fglrx-modaliases --force-yes
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
apt-get -y install --reinstall xserver-xorg-core --force-yes
rm /etc/X11/xorg.con*
reboot

But I see no need for that last mess...
24  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: AVWizard Repeats every boot on: February 27, 2013, 01:32:45 am
This is the last page or so of the output from that http://pastebin.com/B5Dg78G7

I am fairly sure it was stopping at the FATAL before; why it's now completing I don't know.

Yes I have sound on the MD, works fine. I will try rm /etc/asound.conf and see if that works (when she's finished watching Glee).

Using analogue stereo if that's relevant.

Cheers,
Matt.

Not that then.
Please revert the changes you made, reboot, run avwizard and paste /var/log/pluto/AVWizard_Run_*.log where * is the date and time.
25  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: AVWizard Repeats every boot on: February 25, 2013, 01:51:47 pm
Can you please just run bash -x /usr/pluto/bin/SetupAudioVideo.sh

It will probably throw a FATAL: at you, ignore that. Please tell me if it completes.

This appears to be the source of the problem. Do you have sound on the MD? You might rm /etc/asound.conf and see if that changes anything.
26  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: AVWizard Repeats every boot on: February 23, 2013, 08:27:44 pm
Something is preventing avwizard from finishing cleanly and writing the xorg.conf.

Please remove the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.pluto.avwizard file if it exists and run again.

Also please bash -x /usr/pluto/bin/SetupAudioVideo.sh 2>&1 | pastebinit
27  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Future of (AV) device control on: February 23, 2013, 05:00:19 am
The future of AV.

One day LMCE will not fight alsa, it will bend it to its will, and audio will "just work" on everything.

One day lmce video of any kind will play cleanly on almost everything without fiddling with it.

That is the only future of AV I can see from behind all the code.
28  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Multiple sound cards, selected at random? on: February 22, 2013, 05:07:24 pm
I think I finally understand the root of this issue ArmorGnome.

Try this... see if you have similar results.
http://pastebin.com/bsNeJVML

I have... no idea how I am going to go about fixing that... that is alsa.
29  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Atom D510 Install - yes im searching now on: February 21, 2013, 02:25:23 pm
I believe as totallymaxed said that it will work (depending on resolution) ok for video playback... but I believe if you upgrade the kernel to natty and dist-upgrade... there is a MUCH better driver available for the GMA3150 which would allow ui2 and smoother playback.
30  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Atom D510 Install - yes im searching now on: February 16, 2013, 03:37:46 pm
Hi. I wrote the installer... and the video/audio detection stuff, and I did so with the intent to support this thing. To my knowledge (if I am remembering the d510 right, it is an intel nettop) nobody has used one of these yet. I would very much like to make it work if you are willing to help me.

This would work best if you dropped into IRC freenode channel #linuxmce

Thanks!
