why don't you use our own svn?

1. This is the first time I have coded anything and I dont want to brake anything

I have added logging of "state changed" to DataLogger_Plugin.cpp and used unit=5 for the database

The energyGraph that I am working on uses the "state" from the datalogger and the "energy consumption" parameter I have added to template 37, 38 and 1897. I am still struggling to plot the correct data in the graph, but I think that energyMonitor.php should display the correct data.

all my devices that report state are z-wave I dont know how things like X-10 or KNX will work.

Any progress on this?

Your scenario and event looks nearly identical to the one I use, only difference I can see is that you have checked two rooms for alarm clock.

You could try putting all the commands directly into the timed event, that should work to.

could you post some screen shots from webadmin of your events?

I was thinking along the lines of
-List room by room, both linuxMCE connected and not linuxMCE connected, the devices and their power consumption in that room. Tedious? hell yes.
BUT
we at least have a basic power consumption tally. Then depending on what is controlled by linuxMCE can be possible scaled down / back.

I actual started working on something along those lines yesterday

What I have done so fare is make the datalogger_pugin record all state changes. I am then planing to use the information and the amount of power I know each device consume to monitor energy consumption.

At the moment I am testing to see if the information recorded is usable. I am not sure all the devices reports are reliable.

Is there a way to make a timed event in response to a device state?

I don't think this is possible at the moment (someone correct me if I am wrong)

That said you have a couple of options:

1. Create a Delayed event http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/User:Apagg#Delayed_event that will turn on the pool pump and wait xx minutes before turning on the Polaris pump.

2. Use your setup whit 4 Timed Events and make the event that turns on the Polaris pump also turn on the Pool pump.

Did you select the bottom choice "LinuxMCE Install" when you installed kubuntu?

PS! I did a successful install of snapshot 22876 in VirtualBox some days ago.

Pretty much what I was faced with. If we could use IF/THEN type statements in events and scenarios, it would be very powerful and open up tons of possibilities. It is definitely an important feature and one I would donate for (the other is netflix online). I so wish I could code!

I am not sure if this actual answers your question but it should be a start.

If you want features that is not implemented at the moment it is smart to open a feature_patch request in trac http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/newticket.

I have download the Orbiter for symbian os http://deb.linuxmce.org/PlutoMO_3rd.sisx and installed it on my Nokia E52. The installation worked without errors , but when I try to launch the application I get this error:

 "unable to execute file for security reason".

Anyone know how to fix this?

eth0 can be static or DHCP doesn't relay matter.

If you have a second nic put it in. You don't have to connect anything to it. It will save you so much grief and expanding the system will be much easier.

What ever you chose I recommend doing a clean install using the latest internet installer , if you still have problems let me know.

Do you have a reason for only using one nic? If not put in a second nic and do a new install that will probably fix your problem.

If you are set on using one nic the DVD will not work you have to use the internet method or edit your  /etc/network/interfaces manually (I think there is a thread on the forum describing how).

Looks like you have a network problem what is your network hardware?
and what is the output of ifconfig?

House mode and Time of day is now fixed a big thanks to sambuca:) I have created a wiki page to list valid parameters  it is not complete but all parameters  are tested.
