I would like to add certain features into the linuxMCE interface (for example MSN messenger that's integrated or facebook feed...), how do I change the interface within the code and add my own package [p.s. does it have to be in c++?]

Hello everyone, I was wondering, I want to develop some sort of interface in the LinuxMCE to connect with online channels and media, I don't think that such a thing exist in the websites I'm relating to so I would like to do it myself, is there a chance I might be able to do it with JAVA or is the LinuxMCE using another language for creating addons to the interface?
