LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Phone line goes down?
|

Okay, maybe not as it should be, but this is a temporary workaround... I've created a 'respond to event'. Criteria - Day of the week: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7
- Time of day: 6:55
Commands: Asterisk - PBX Application - application: ring
- Number: 01990
This will automaticlly calls each day in the morning a number of my provider. The number gives me information about the latest caller. I specially choose this number since it will automaticlly kill the call once it gave the information (+/- 10sec). And of course because it's a free number. Of course, it would be nicer that it only calls once (if the line went down, if the server rebooted). But i couldn't figure out how i can trace that with 'respond to events'. So for the moment, a daily call should do it... But if somebody could tell me how i could it elseway, glad...

But no solution so far for the bug at asterisk... Maybe i should create a small script that performs an outgoing call each time the server boots? This way the line will be registred?

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Update went wrong?
|
on: November 07, 2012, 07:08:13 pm

Hey, Just (2012-11-07) did an 'apt-get upgrade', and several things where updated for linuxcme (fe i saw a lot of things on the db and website). But when i now restart the server, it's in a kind of loop. - In the begin, i see that he's has problems with the network interface. And from another machine i'm not able to reach it anymore.
- The server itself keeps on retrying to connect with the DCErouter. I'm not able to connect with cli (fe with alt-f2).
I've connected another harddisk (with a working linuxmce from last week), and this one starts up fine. So somewhere their went something wrong with the network drivers. Any idea how i can 'bypass'/restore this?

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: new release "precise"

I've just tested it on a clean disk: - Installation of a fresh LinuxMCE (LMCE-1004-20121030125826619)
Everything is working fine (user setup in LinuxMCE, network, internet browsing...) - run a 'do-release-upgrade'
- No more LAN more?
I can ping from the server to a client. But from a client, i can't reach the server? Everything is listing locally (TCP 80, 53....) Probably a kind of firewall kicked in (but no iptables, no ufw...?) - I've installed gnome (apt-get install gdm)
- And when i try to login locally to linuxmce, he tells me that there are no users?
But i'm 200% sure that i created a user in Linuxmce before. so the do-release-upgrade did also something to the database?
Back to an original installation, without the do-release-upgrade...

I look outside to see if the sun is there or not You're right. But i like to know when my lights outside will work, and when not. Since I let LinucMCE control a big part of my electricity, i still want to know when things will happen, and why... I'll not be the slave of my technology... It's a nice feature, the day/night. But when you troubleshoot, it's nice to know these kind of things... And on the side, i find it really interesting to know when the sun will be gone...

Not really necessary to put it on top, but it would be nice to have it somewhere. Maybe an extra block with statistics? I'm also very interested to see the counts of the database. This can give you an idea of your configuration.
Regarding cacti, i know that you can have easy links to the graphs. For the moment, my server crashed. And i'm rebuilding it. Once it's up, i can show you a webpage on my intranet where i inserted the images...

LinuxMCE / Users / Re: # Images for a room limited?
|
on: October 31, 2012, 07:45:03 am
|
Just did a fresh install of the latest version (1004-20121030125826619) and retried the images. - I've created 25 rooms, and saved it.
- Then i started to add 7 images to the rooms in sequence. (room 1-7, 8-...)
And after room 20, it stops with adding the images. - Then i removed room 1-10, and add images to the last 5 rooms (room 21-25 in this case)
And this works - When i now add again 10 rooms, and add images to it
It stops again at room 20
So i've got the impression that the number of images you can assign to rooms are 20...

Nice!!! What do you mean with graphs? Personally I'm using cacti to have a lot of monitoring about the system (and my network, and...). Maybe this can integrated in it? ps i'm missing the sunset/-rise. This was the thing that started this. Because i find this very interesting information for the 'timed events'.

LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Disk size incorrect / disk full?
|

Found it.... I mounted a NAS under /mnt/ where i backupped my data each night. And apparantly the mounting went somewhere invalid. It was correct for several months, and suddently it was a local folder? So the backups were made locally. But in the meantime, my linuxmce crashed completely. When i tried to boot, he tried to go into 'maintenance shell'. But didn't succeed. Prob because the disk is full? So 'ive connected the disk to another system and i'm cleaning out the folder /mnt/ for the moment. And i really hope that it'll start properly later on...

I've done this for all folder (except /mnt/), and the total shouldn't be over the 25GB. Or am i doing something wrong? sudo du -h /foldername 5.2M /bin 51M /boot 4.0K /cdrom/ 364K /dev/ 9.5M /etc/ 341M /home 332M /lib/ 16K /lost+found/ 8.0K /media/ 4.0K /opt/ 0 /proc/ 3.9M /root 104K /root_1/ 8.9M /sbin/ 2.4M /scripts/ 4.0K /selinux/ 208K /srv/ 0 /sys/ 8.8M /tftpboot/ 164K /tmp/ 9.8G /usr/ 12G /var/ ? /mnt

Hey, I've got a small SSD card (60GB) for my operation system. I thought this would be enough to run LinuxMCE, but it seems that something is eating my size away... I can't find who takes the gigs away. Any idea how i can troubleshoot this? sudo df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on rootfs 55292308 49162052 3321528 94% / none 1542784 364 1542420 1% /dev /dev/disk/by-uuid/8beeb5ef-c123-4095-a54f-d9119e9dbeeb 55292308 49162052 3321528 94% / none 1548168 0 1548168 0% /dev/shm none 1548168 388 1547780 1% /var/run none 1548168 0 1548168 0% /var/lock none 1548168 0 1548168 0% /lib/init/rw /dev/sdb2 976283068 592126876 384156192 61% /mnt/device/350 /dev/sda1 55292308 49162052 3321528 94% /mnt/device/351
sudo df -i Filesystem Inodes IUsed IFree IUse% Mounted on rootfs 3514368 509258 3005110 15% / none 177582 847 176735 1% /dev /dev/disk/by-uuid/8beeb5ef-c123-4095-a54f-d9119e9dbeeb 3514368 509258 3005110 15% / none 180275 1 180274 1% /dev/shm none 180275 124 180151 1% /var/run none 180275 2 180273 1% /var/lock none 180275 3 180272 1% /lib/init/rw /dev/sdb2 976760000 874413 975885587 1% /mnt/device/350 /dev/sda1 3514368 509258 3005110 15% /mnt/device/351
Don't know if it has something to do with it, but in /tmp/ i see a lot the folder StorageDevices_StatusRadar.temp.mount.xxxxxxx for a short time. But i think it's normal behavoir? When i search for big files (+250MB) i can only find the log files that go sometimes up to 2,2G (only 4 files). ps disk /mnt/device/350 is my data disk of 1TB. And all data (video, documents, pictures, websites...) are located on this disk.

Hmmm, with phpmyadmin, i've done DELETE FROM File WHERE Missing = 1; And some records where removed, but still a lot in the table: 3.663.306 ps My OS disk keeps getting Gigs from somewhere, but i think it's another topic. The db is only 4,5Gig. And since my cleanout this morning (6GB), it's again full...
