346  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Dell PowerEdge 850; fresh install on: December 19, 2010, 07:43:04 pm
poeweee, 5 hours search...

The installation way/procedure could use some fine tuning or up to date manuals...
I've found a lot of different things/ways/explanations of things on the net.

Apparantly when you use a terminalwindow, and run the script as root, it goes a lot better.
After this, when you reboot, you'll get the av-wizard...

up to the next step...
347  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Dell PowerEdge 850; fresh install on: December 19, 2010, 11:55:08 am
Hey,

I'm trying to install the latest version of LinuxMCE (8.10-23535-i386) on a dell server.
First installation goes fine, but once i've got the desktop, i'm lost.

I can't find anywhere what tot do. Just a script on the desktop where i can run 'linuxMCE'.
A script starts to run, and after a while, i got an error 'Error - KdeSudo,   Command not found!'.
Only thing i can do is click 'OK'. The script goes on, but 'holds/freeze'.
I've got also the idea that some things aren't found to install (internet issue?). But the scripts runs on, so i think it's not a big issue?

Any idea what i can/must do now?

ps is it normal that in the boot menu of the cd, the options 'install kubuntu' and 'install linuxmce' gives the same result?  Huh
348  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Internal calls on: October 08, 2009, 05:09:16 pm
Hey,

Like you can read in another topic, i had some issues to get some cisco phones 7940 up and running. I think that i managed it now. They're registred with SIP and a new template. On the phone itself, i've got nicely a SIP screen with an extension (phone 1 = 201, phone 2 = 202). And in the admin site, i see them under the section 'Devices' - 'Phones'. Everything went nicely through the Oribiter screen (found no phone, reload router....).

But now my problem, i can't call from one phone to the other one.

Do i need to add some additional config? Like a dialplan or something? Or is this done automaticlly?
Has somebody a good walkthrough for this?  Huh

349  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Cisco 7940 on: October 07, 2009, 06:27:36 pm

I've put 2 phones on SIP, and was able to get them get an extension from linuxMCE.
Once, the MAC is in the template, it's all straight forwards. Shocked

So it seems that the SIP / SCCP story is the main reason for the confusion?

Strange thing is that i've got now 2 phones with number 201 and 202. But they can't call eachother? Hmmm, that's a problem for tomorrow.  I'm already glad that there's something usefull on the phonescreen...  Undecided

What i can't get working is that perl script (configure_cisco7940.pl). I don't see how (when/where) i need to use this...

I think that i think to much.  Tongue
When i go through that pl script, i see a lot of sip configuration? Wasn't it just not sip?  Embarrassed

I run
Code:
./configure_cisco7940.pl -d PhoneCubilicum -i 192.168.80.252 -m 00:11:5C:93:AF:D1

Where configure_cisco7940.pl is a copy of the configure_cisco7960.pl without phonelines 3 till 6.
Where PhoneCubilicum is the name i've got in the database (changed via http://localhost)
where 192.168.80.252 the ip is of the phone
where 00:11:5C:93:AF:D1 the mac is of the phone

and get as result
Code:
Unknown column 'PhoneCubiculum' in 'where......

Sorry that i don't copy the whole error (i'm typing this on another computer).

Thanks to put me on the right tracks...
351  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Cisco 7940 on: October 06, 2009, 06:15:34 pm
damn it. Don't you understand, that if you make a proper #@)%(#@)%#@ device template, that you don't have to make elaborate articles on the wiki?!

I'm getting TIRED of screaming this at the top of my lungs! SPEND TIME STUDYING THE EXISTING DEVICE TEMPLATES AND SCRIPTS!!!
I understand you, but on the other side, it shouldn't be this hard to get it up and running. Wink
That's the whole reason why a lot of persons stay at MS...  Roll Eyes
This beside...

Those scripts are generated by the configure_cisco7970.pl script. This needs to be adapted for the 7940.

Okay, back to the drawing panel. What i see is that i've got 2 options, or i change all phones towards sip, or figure out the sccp...
And since sccp is already on the phones, i'll give this another shot.

What i can't get working is that perl script (configure_cisco7940.pl). I don't see how (when/where) i need to use this...
352  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Cisco 7940 on: October 06, 2009, 05:17:56 pm
bit by bit we get there... Wink

I've got 'plutoSip' on top of my phone and the extension 203...
No figuring out how to work with it...

Think that i'll create a nice walkthrough for my other phones...  Lips sealed
353  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Cisco 7940 on: October 06, 2009, 05:09:27 pm
I've put a 7960 beside. Maybe it will be easier to get him working first...

I'm trying to get it up and running, but i'm really lost will all things that need to be done. :$
I've created a xmlDefault.CNF.XML, but still the message rejected.
I messed up a phone with putting him towards SIP (i think).

I'm reading around, and seeing a lot about SIP, skinny, SEP...
Can somebody tell me what's the best (read easiest) to make some phone calls under linuxcMCE?  Undecided

354  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Cisco 7940 on: October 06, 2009, 06:24:43 am
The error is on the display on the phone. So more information than that i can't provide (i think).  Undecided

...File not found: XMLDefaul...     (for a few seconds)
...Registration rejected...     (for maybe a minute, and then he reboots)

355  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Cisco 7940 on: October 05, 2009, 07:12:38 pm

I first want to get some phones up and ready (that i can use as normal phones) before i decide to buy a 7970 (those things are expensive!)...

I'm almost there, I think...
The phone gets apperantly an ip and so from the server. The server asks me if i want to add the phone (so naturally i say yes)...
I do a 'quick reload' of the router and the phone.
The phone boots but gives me following errors:
   - File not found: XMLDefaul....
   - Registration rejected

Any idea what i've done wrong?
356  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Cisco 7940 on: September 24, 2009, 12:39:42 pm
the 7940 can not be used as an orbiter.

Are you for real?  Huh
Damned, and i've got about 7 of those phones. I want them to use as a multifunctional device (phone, intercom, inputter...). Can I confirm some buttons to do some basic stuf (like turning on lights, deactivate an alarm...

Is there somewhere a good guideline to setup a template for this typ of phone?

ps i'm a newbie with linuxmce, so didn't find the time (or nerves) to go through all setups/manuals...
357  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Cisco 7940 on: September 24, 2009, 10:15:00 am
Hey,

I'm trying to have a cisco phone 7940 working on LinuxMCE 710...

I follow this article as a guide line.
I think that the article is for an older release, possible?

For the MAC's, i tried to insert 00:15:13:00:00:00 till 00:15:14:00:00:00. After i apply, it change towards 151? Any suggestion what could go wrong?
Is it necessary to use the dhcp? Can't i fix the phone? If so, must i put in a tftp, cm...?

ps will i have problems when i try to use the 7970 template for a 7940?  Embarrassed
358  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Cancel the Wizard? on: September 24, 2009, 07:44:58 am
no...  Embarrassed

And the problem is that it's a 1HU server, so i don't have place to put in a pci card. The only pci slot is taken by a RAID controller...

Maybe an external usb audio-card? Could this work? :$
359  LinuxMCE / Feature requests & roadmap / Demo Server on: September 23, 2009, 09:57:26 am
Maybe a kind of demo server on the net?
This way, people can log in to the administration page, have a look around...
A screen like they can have on their orbiter, pocketpc...

And if there are any people with great knowledge of java (or so), and layout that you can actually light on or light off things...
360  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Cancel the Wizard? on: September 23, 2009, 09:51:43 am
Hey,

Just tried to install LinuxMCE 7.10 on a 1HU server.

The installation started well, just a 'bug' when he tries to find the right BIOS drivers. But a few moments later, he tells me that the installation is finished. So i reboot then the machine, and the wizard starts.

In here, i select 1024 x 768 for my screen resolutions (works great) and no audio.
Then Sarah (?) comes to tell me congratulation. But since i don't have audio, i don't hear her...  Tongue
But then i tried to say next, and nothing happens. Cancel the wizard gives the same result. When i hit a bunch of keys, sometimes the 'admin window' of linux comes up. But later on, back in the wizard.
I tried to reboot it several times (2 times), but same result, back in the wizard.
Maybe an issue is that the buttons (next, cancel, repeat...) aren't on the right, but more in the middle. At first sight i want to see that the resolution isn't correctly lined up? So maybe i just push next to the buttons (i actually try that also)...

Any idea how i can bypass her? Sorry Sarah...

Since this machine will be used as a server somewhere in a cabinet, i don't need to have video/audio/... things on it. Or i'm a wrong?
