Hya,
thx! worked after changing the mirror.
Went til the end, with one error:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
pluto-asterisk: Depends: pluto-voicemail-monitor but it is not going to be installed
PreDepends: asterisk-pluto but it is not going to be installed

Any idea why? Both are in http://download.linuxmce.org/ubuntu/dists/intrepid/beta2/binary-i386/

Best regards.

Same here, got it today, installing from the net, using the latest installer script.

The following message is being displayed for the last 6 hours........

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

E: Broken packages
#### Package pluto-orbiter failed (/tmp/tmp.dfQgL30576) - We wait 10sec and try again - to stop retrying press Ctrl-C.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against

605  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Subtitles and LinuxMCE 810 on: January 24, 2010, 12:42:49 am
Did try today renaming and symlinking. Did not work.
Did a sudo apt-get dist-upgrade (lmce was updated).
Subtitles did not work either renaming or symlinking.
Filenames:
2012 Doomsday.avi
2012 Doomsday.avi.srt
TIA

607  LinuxMCE / Users / [SOLVED] Subtitles and LinuxMCE 810 on: January 17, 2010, 12:26:03 am
Hi,
Having video-file.avi and video-file.srt on the same diretory (videos), i can watch the video, but the subtitles are not shown.
Did not test yet, but would also have it working for mkv and other formats.....
How can i force pluto-xine to show the subtitles?
TIA,
Paulo

You're welcome. I was a developer (old school - cobol, pl/1, C).... not in business anymore.... ;-). I simply don't get OOL.

even with micro$oft products, if you do not read LOTS or get a class, you will be at surface, unable to use it's full potential. i got many times problems with windows where the only solution was reinstalling the entire system. it never happened with linux.
hardware issues have nothing to do with the system, like booting from cdrom, or bios configuration. This will impact the installation of linux, windows, freebsd, etc...
so, if you get how to boot from cdrom, and take the  following steps, you will have lmce installed, and running. for configuration and other, the way will be asking or searching the posts....
1) get linux 8.10 ISO image.
2) burn it to a cd
3) boot from the cd
4) after install, log in and
5) sudo su - #This might ask for the password you specified earlier during the install of kubuntu.
6) apt-get update
7) apt-get -y -f dist-upgrade
Cool wget -c http://deb.linuxmce.org/ubuntu/new-installer-beta2.tar.gz
9) tar xvf new-installer-beta2.tar.gz
10) cd new-installer
11) ./pre-install-from-repo.sh
12) ./mce-install.sh
13) ./post-install.sh
14) reboot
IT WILL work if you hardware meets the minimal specs.....

not having your mobo's specs makes it difficult. take a look at you sata pci card, i'm quite sure you can boot your cdrom from it. I guess you will need to disable the bios boot sequence and enable it at your pci card (jumper?).
611  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: SATA and CD Rom Boot on: January 12, 2010, 09:41:31 pm
or you can do a release update, but installing 8.10 fresh is better. By installation you will be able to partition the disk.
612  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: SATA and CD Rom Boot on: January 12, 2010, 09:06:43 pm
For an initial hybrid, i think that a 2.66 P4 with 1.5GB RAM is enough. Try to get a Nvidia series 8 or 9 graphic card for best result. In a future, you will need to upgrade if, i.e. video streaming gets choppy. Or you can move this older to a MD and build a new hybrid.
There is a LMCE DVD torrent, but i did not try it yet, i did it following the instructions which you can find at http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Installing_0810.
If you already have kubuntu installed (for LMCE you need kubuntu 8.10), you don't need to repartition.... just follow the instructions on the above link.
Linux partition tool is fdisk.

613  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: SATA and CD Rom Boot on: January 12, 2010, 07:00:28 am
Answer to your questions:
yes, you can boot from the sata cd-rom drive.
just install it. kubuntu 8.10 will allow you to partition the disk. just choose "entire disk".

what is your older pc specs? it may not be enough to become a hybrid neither a core.
614  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Linksys SPA-3102 on: December 29, 2009, 10:41:19 pm
The intention is firstly use only the POTS service, and later, POTS and VoIP with Voipcheap. I do have a POTS service plan, a flat plan with no time limit with a fixed (really low) value for local calls, and it's cheaper than any VoIP provider could offer. For long distance (inland and international) calls i will use Voipcheap, so i will be using POTS and VoIP. The question regarding using this ATA on the external network was merely regarding the QoS when using on a VoIP provider, via ADSL.
So i will need the SPA-3102 for the POTS and VoIP and the other ATA (PAP2T-NA) to distribute the normal analog telephone and fax devices over my home LAN, and my mobile as a wireless extension, using the SIP server from Freebox. Other advantage for me will be having one of the PAP2T-NA travelling with me and giving me a home phone line extension whatever i am (in the office, on trip, etc...)

If in this configuration QoS is irrelevant, i think it's better to use it on the internal network.

Thanks for the detailed explanation.
615  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Linksys SPA-3102 on: December 29, 2009, 08:37:54 pm
The SPA-3102 is a dedicated device, and one of it's feature is QOS, shaping packets to privilege the VOIP.
The idea would be connecting the internet port to the adsl modem, the ethernet port to the external nic of the dcerouter, the FXS port to my POTS line and having PAP2T-NA in the internal network (dcerouter internal nic), with the normal telephone and fax devices attached. So, while downloading torrent files, i would have the SPA-3102 QOS assuring voice quality for the VOIP service (not yet in use, but planned in a future, like cheapvoip).
The question was regarding if it's possible to have the SPA-3102 in LinuxMCE and having LinuxMCE using it.
I'm pretty new in this field (VOIP), some questions may sound really stupid, but i want to be sure that what i'm thinking is correct and can be done, before starting to setting it up.... and later discovering that i did it wrong....
TIA.
