One more quick question. After I get this USB-UIRT I would also need a video capture card and not a tuner correct, because the cable box will bedoing all the tuning.

Thank you, I think I have a understanding on how it works now. I will not have the parts for my media pc for another 2 weeks, so I wil not be able to try it out until then :(. I really do appreciate your help! Glad to know that a workaround exists for cable boxes that cannot be controled via serial, usb etc

Yes I am with you, thank you so much for the fast reply! I think I am going to go the USB UIRT route.

Hello, thanks for all the help in advance. I think the topic states my genral question. I want to know if it is possible to control my HR21-100 with LinuxMCE or something similar. I have spent the past few hours googleing this very question with no luck at all. I found this thread http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=7073.0 but I am not sure if that usb_uirt is what I need or if it will even work. What I basicly want to know is if my STB will work, and if it does for someone to point me into the right direction. I have a lot of Linux experience as it has been my main OS for the past 6 years (Got to love Archlinux). When it comes to home theater I am lost :p
