If you access LMS in Web Admin are your MP3 tags/meta data handled correctly when you browse the Media Library?

All the best

Andrew

Andrew,

yes it seems that under LMS the MP3s are existing

Dear Andrew,

wanted to re-organize my mp3 again (because of duplicate tags).
So i followed the guidelines in
http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=12543.0

But after restoring teh blank database, no more attributes are added by updatemedia.
Did the upgrade of updatemedia changed the database?

I hope to have at least a preliminary version for the above up on the Wiki this weekend...you may well be the 'Guinea pig' for whether it makes any sense!

Sorry for the delay in getting these docs out the door.

Andrew, can i have a look at those documents?

Installation issues / Re: Dianemo S: Volume of UPnp Devices
« on: November 20, 2012, 09:51:17 am »
I'll take a look today... but the rate of volume up/down on the Squeezebox's is actually pretty small. Start something playing in one of your Squeezebox zones and then check that the internal volume level of the Squeezebox itself is set to say 50%. Can you hear it now? Is the Squeezebox receiving the stream? If it is you should see the name of the current playing track on its display. Do you?

Andrew, did you find time to look into the sonos device?

Hi,

Do you think this might be related?

http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,8625.0.html

Cheers

it can be related. For me it is only happening if there are iamge files in the sub directories.
Very strange

golgoj4,

similiar to bongowongo, i would sugest to make things easy.
When i was starting with lmce some years ago, i was astonished, on how easy things are.
As a user, who had never had any expierence with lmce - expect isntalling an distitribution for testing and troughing away again.
Installation went quite easy and the AV Wizard guided me, same did - what was her name? Liza?
anyhow, but then .... the problems begun....with some ugly hardware....

I had to edit here a file and change a config file there and reboot and put in a fix.

I understand, that there is a massive amount of hardwarepieces, if e.g. we just take mainboards, so many vendors, chipsets and combination of hardware, and having a compatibility list, does not make sense - becuase the product life cycle is very short in the retail.

what i am trying to say is, that there must be a way, to give a kind of gurantee that s.th. is working oob - than supporting more and more hardware pieces.
Break things down...what is working and what is working with problems.

Can mean, that some advanced functions should be deactivated, as long as , it is not needed by user.
I find the way of dianemo quite smart...."everything" is integrated, but not activated by default.

Giving an example, is that my Allnet PoE Switch is always recognised as an D-Link IP Camera. For me, as i know the background, its not a problem, but the Enduser - he who uses the system daily, its so confusing.

in theory, everything is so easy with lmce - and was developed with this in the "back head" - like lmce says "be patient" - but i believe we're drifting more and more away from this point. For example - Zwave should be easy to install - but in fact it is not. User has to crawl through forum, wikis, take a look at log files and so on. Who wants to do this?

What i am trying to say is, we should spent more time in making the system more friendly from a top-down perspective. Having a system with music, video and tv up and running in 1 hour - stable.

Lmce is THE home automation system, but to be successful, we need to make it more friendly. I do not mean, that it has to be "super" easy to isntall, but i believe that even sometimes an installer - who has IT background - can be frustrated if things are working the one day and the other day not.

like bongowongo says, i do not see exactly, whats going on. So, to find a reason i have to dig really deep, and i believe that most system integrators do that one time, but not a second time.

Andrew,

thanks for you rreply. Squeezebox is working as expected. It is receiveing the strem and vol up/down works. Only mute is not working.
The device i am talking about is a sonos (device 57), in the past the vol up/down was working, but now not anymore.

Thanks for digging into it.

This appears to happen on some systems, LinuxMCE or Dianemo, and not on others. we don't have a handle on why that is yet though.

Andrew

Andrew,
do you have any idea on how i can find out, which service or program starts creating those files?
is there something as a monitoring tool?

in the net i found s.th. like inotify, but i don't know if it is the right thing to do.

That Wiki entry only covers the control of the IP TV or BluRay not the switching of an External source. Another section is being worked on for the configuration of external sources.

All the best

Andrew

OK, i understand. But what is the purpose of adding this - as you have written on the wiki - what can i "do" with it, as it does not show up anywhere and the only "command" i can send is register?

Please clarify....thansk alot

You need to set a MediaConfig line for the Room that each of your SqueezeBoxes/SqueezeSlaves are in. Therefore if you have a SqueezeBox in Room ID#10 you would set the AudioDev to the Dev ID# of the SqueezeBox  in that Room (get that from Web Admin obviously)... let's say the Dev ID# for that SqueezeBox is 30. Therefore you would add a line such as the one below;

Room=10: AudioDev=30; VideoDev=; KeepScreenOnForOSD=yes

All the best

Andrew

Andrew any idea?
Or should i order the additional service from you?

Any reply would be great
