LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Snapshots, Upgrades And Latest And Greatest

Installed LMCE-1004-20120405032725810.iso in a VM based on KVM. Went smoothly up to the point where the system said it could not read the orbiter configuration. ifconfig showed that the internal networkcard had an ip address of 192.168.0.1 Checking the /etc/network/interfaces files it showed that the internal network address was set to 192.168.80 instead of 192.168.80.1 Changed it via terminal login and It's now happy generating the first screens kr Han Could you make a ticket about this?

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: 1004 install hangs after INITRD message

Thanks for the response, l3, so many paths to follow-
OK, so it sounds as if the install was more or less complete but just not rebooting. I did hard-power it down and then start up again but assumed the install hadn't completed so didn't expect much. Definitely didn't go to AVWizard but I can't quite remember what happened.
What I have done in the meantime is internet install from a base kubuntu 10.04 and the restart happened and I'm at the "Failed to setup X" screen. Yay, familiar territory ;-)
So I think what I'll do at this stage is go and dig through that ATI testing thread of yours and see if I can pick up some suggestions to resolve this one and at the same time will try to gather some more detail on my hardware for you.
P.S. - where is the install log if I should go the DVD route again?
I may also set to downloading the latest snapshot just to keep the ADSL line busy....
Try LMCE-1004-201203310416.iso, I had succes on VM (not updated wiki yet) or try the latest, but that is unexplored territory.

hi, at first i want to say: WOW, i saw your qOrbiter Videos on youtube and i'm very very impressed. I am a 0810 user since the beginning of this version. Whats stopping me from moving to 1004? Nothing. I just need time; WAF is also very important offtopic: Do you know if there is any effort in upgrade lmce to 1204? thank you for your hard work avajon All efforts go to 1004, we will focus on that, 1204 is a forbidden number to talk about.

Latest Shapshot works great!!!!!!
After downloading the iso, installed from it. about 40mb or so downloads. (assuming it restricted packages) Then after Sarah another 100mb or so.
Wel that is a huge improvement from downloading an 3-4Gb iso and then while installing another 3gb or so was downloaded.....
Testing the MD part, but my AV-Wizard seems to be going into a loop....... The MD gets to the point of the AV-wizard. choose resolution and Audio outputs. Then after that it seems to be continiuing booting, but then the AV-wizard starts again.....
Karel
Which iso did you install?

LinuxMCE / Users / Re: VIDEO CARDS: ATI, Intel, VIA... whatever you got...

As good as you can get.
Intel is producing great results. I mean if you are running a late 90s dell optiplex, I wouldn't shoot for compositing... however if you have a G45 or similar, UI2 with alpha is working. Honestly I have said optiplex running UI2 (no alpha) brilliantly right now. Couple of laptops have run with alpha... and frankly... the performance has been better than my non-VDPAU nVidia stuff.
ATI is anybodies guess. I don't have any HW that uses the fglrx drivers, and you are not likely to get alpha with radeon. U2.1 works great on my radeon hw.
Laughably my pico-itx VIA runs well enough on UI2.1. Mythtv takes a few seconds to buffer up, but it runs, which is funny to me. Performance would probably be up to par if I could get the s3d driver to fire, but as it was problematic on my VIAs, I set it to openchrome.
Along with the fglrx, these are the additional drivers being correctly detected and applied: radeon: xserver-xorg-video-radeon radeonhd: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel i128: xserver-xorg-video-i128 i740: xserver-xorg-video-i740 openchrome: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome savage: xserver-xorg-video-savage via: xserver-xorg-video-s3 virge: xserver-xorg-video-s3virge
I somehow let go of the detection that unlocks the Intel vaapi on the G45, i3, i5, i7 cores in this build. Will replace for next build. In the meantime if you have any of those, when you get to avwizard, apt-get install libva-driver-i965 and reboot.
Thank you L3mce, I have been waiting for this for so long, but this 2 weeks I cannot do anything. My boss expects me to work for my money. Weird! But my bongo is itching like always.

LinuxMCE / Users / News: from the Alpha to the Omega
|
on: March 12, 2012, 07:36:20 pm

Dear LinuxMCE community, Do not worry, we will not take it to Omega, but let's focus just on going to Beta. The LinuxMCE 1004 Beta that is. Not forgetting there also real Beta's to be plucked, ready to be taken from the dev-tree. Golgoj4 has one, he has given us the Android Qorbiter Beta. http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Android_OrbiterAnd he even thanks us for testing it, how modest. http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,12448.0.htmlBut back to the Linuxmce 1004 Beta. It isn't there yet, but very big steps are taken by l3mce, he has reopened "the snapshot factory" so we can test the snapshot on a regular interval. We have updated snapshot overview, for your user, and testing convenience. http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Snapshot_overviewThis will take the development for the 1004 Beta to the next level, we can find a workflow to test snapshots and report in the wiki and svn, like we did with 0810 snapshots. B.

Yes we are the best, yippy, finally they see, that testers are the most important of all. Hehehe, golgoj4, we testers should thank you, for decrypting our idiotic remarks for your patience, and for your developing (not only golgoj4, but all who dev).

Took your advice and stayed away from side by side installation. Created a vm on my core and loaded the .iso, Installation screen came up & I picked install lmce. Crashed soon afterwards at (initramfs). Should I have loaded something else first? No, I will get a snapshot wiki site up and running for us to follow, like I did with 0810. First need te get one working first

It was correctly pointed out to me that the buttons look clickable, and our friends in the Netherlands will get confused and probably just keep trying to click them...
Anyway, I am just screwing around... but thought you might like a reference with the menu up.
I tried to click the buttons, but nothing happens, shall I make a ticket?
