if i acquire one of the first batch, im going to use it for my local ubuntu mirror, but i would be happy to open it up via ssh for people to poke around it.

In the faq it says that newer versions of ubuntu aren't really supported yet

Users / Re: 710,810,1004 or what?

Small question. I know their's work being done on 10.04 a LTS I'm glad the next build is being based on a LTS.

My only question / suggestion would be.

Instead of starting a new project on 10.04 which is supported through until April 2013 for the desktop version, and until April 2015 for the server version. Would it be better to just start on 12.04 with support from 26 April 2012 to April 2017? I know 12.04 hasn't made alpha yet (dec1 I think) This way we start off fresh with a version that will have through support form main stream through the development process of LMCE. Going this route we won't have to worry about them dropping support for it before the final build like they did with 8.10.

This is the plan, till 1204 is not released we work with 1004. The upgrade path is said to be much easier according to the devs. Correct me if I am wrong.

If I'm correct, the underlying system is Kubuntu 8.10, which have been dead version for a year now ...
You are right, it is mainly because of a long release cycle due to little human resource available.
It is possible to try the 1004 alpha, but that is an alpha of course. Works quite well for some, but you need some knowhow.

I can start trying to establish a new wiki structure if I can get set up with a wiki administrator password.

Is your name twodogs in the wiki?

Feature requests & roadmap / Re: 3d playback
« on: October 24, 2011, 04:58:36 am »
iirc most content available in 3D is Blu-Ray based content. As we do not support direct playback of Blu-Ray discs, it might make more sense to

a) either get a Blu-Ray disc player and control it via LinuxMCE
b) get Blu-Ray playback into a usable state for LinuxMCE

b isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Youtube also supports 3d

you said TV1 and TV2 so are you going to have two MD's?  how will these be made up - Hybrid and 1 MD or 2MD's and a dedicated core - Anyway I thought an extra sound card in your MD's can be set as a slave to the squeezebox server within LMCE.

I will have two tv's and the md's connected to it.

If you have the choice, use virtualbox.

When you want to test an MD also in the virtual machine I use one core and 1024 mb.
Also you have to change nic 2 core from bridge to intnet

Please update the wiki accordingly with your findings.

In my opinion, the page status should present fixed choices in a drop down menu.
But I am not sure how this will work with the wiki.
