LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Bedroom Sunrise Simulation Lighting Event: Can this be done?

(davegravy, your wife likes to sleep late?) Okay, automated lights off function was fantastic for the three days it worked. Slept better, not only because it was dark but also the room temperature did not rise that much cause I wasn't burning the lights all night. I have few 12 V halogens for the bedroom, connected to a conventional transformer. I suppose this is the reason why the ACT plug in lamp-module just died last night. It was used only for these few days Has anyone tried to fix those modules? It must be the output stage that died..

It's been awhile.... Any new experience with the sunrise simulation or even new developments regarding this? Happy being woken up with the lights?
I just adopted timed events to turn off the lights automatically in the bedroom in the night, which is just great in my case. I tend to fall asleep every night having the lights on, and then wake up too early due to this.

Checked the fail2ban web pages, they seem to have quite ok info for newbies also. I hope to use this for more than asterisk, I think that is just one thing amongst others.
If remember right, one of the core devs if not The Dev had a problem with break-in to his system. Would fail2ban have helped to avoid this..
Considering the the LMCE will control (at least in my dreams) almost every aspect in the house, this kind of safety tool would be nice to be included in the system.

Didn't know about fail2ban before reading your posts.
Although duct tape is strictly forbidden, could you write a short wiki for installing fail2ban? Sound like a must to have.

Quite a respectable set of hardware. Although this is your first post in the forum, you must have done bunch of background research before arriving at getting all the equipment.
Your wish list is very demanding. Unfortunately, cannot help with the requests but please note that there is one company active in this forum that offer fully working setups. They might probably be able to help you.

Okay dokay, I got bunch of help from posde in #linuxmce. My installation turned out to be a very old one, therefore massively outdated and not really suitable for normal update. It required some sort of package etc magic, I was just repeating the commands instructed. After a few reboots, the system is up and running again.
Thank you for your help, I hope to contribute back soon.

Hi, trying to update mainly to get the WO2.0. I guess it didn't go through, since WO2.0 files don't exist.
Was hoping to solve this by changing the priority from 600 to 500, but, I don't have this file /etc/apt/preferences. Avenard repo was not in sources.list.
Any hints how to proceed would be most appreciated.
/Kooma
