Developers / Re: Dynamic DNS support for other vendors

I didn't use the lmce admin for dynamic dns. It can be configured in your router, instead.
After that, remember to setup https access (see wiki at http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/HTTPS).

Disclaimer: the information given here is from a lmce retard / newbie  8)

If you found out something helpful not included in the related voip/sip/? wiki,
could you consider adding those info?

Hi, I'm in a pretty much same situation with you. Recently started learning and playing with LinuxMCE. I went with the Zwave as the major automation system since it seems to be reliable and generally the choice for retrofitting. There are others available, too c.f. http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Automation.

Also, in wiki you'll find a list of suppliers for various hw at http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Where_to_Buy

you need to do the proper group associations.

br Hari

Thank's hari. Feel like a moron to ask where/how the group association can be done?

Previously in this topic it was mentioned that this sensor can only be associated with group one. Noticed that before the installation, yet don't understand (obviously) what it actually means.

Hi, I'm having difficulties in the installation of door/window sensor sm103 and hope to get some advice. Wiki is quite limited atm.

I included the sensor in the network with ACT HomePro ZTH200 remote. The response was 'only added to network 7'. OK. LMCE sees now the sensor (once the settings were downloaded from the remote), but sensor status is missing.

How can I get the status?

Thank you in advance.

Hey slampt,
could please add some more info on how to apply your ruby code?
Do I first select an existing template (what #) and then fill in the code somewhere there?
Haven't done this before, therefore a bit lost with this... Yeah, I have spent -some- time reading this and that :-)

« on: January 08, 2010, 08:57:52 pm »
Well, I'm not only slow but slobby.. Got it working, I had omitted one '#' from the instructions in wiki.

Very interesting to access the server with secure(?) https. Now to add some environmental logging data that can be viewed outside the house. That ought to be cool and satisfying once working.

BTW, what log file indicates device status of each Z-wave unit?

its just a matter of downloading it to the core and running it like you would any other shell script.
I do need to revisit this at some time though, it gets clobbered at the next system upgrade.

OK, I'm a bit slow getting anything to work but anyway... I tried the wiki approach (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/HTTPS) and get these errors in the end when restarting apache:

Code: [Select]
[Fri Jan 08 17:15:48 2010] [error] VirtualHost *:443 -- mixing * ports and non-* ports with a NameVirtualHost address is not supported, proceeding with undefined results
[Fri Jan 08 17:15:48 2010] [error] VirtualHost *:80 -- mixing * ports and non-* ports with a NameVirtualHost address is not supported, proceeding with undefined results
[Fri Jan 08 17:15:48 2010] [warn] NameVirtualHost *:0 has no VirtualHosts

The result when trying to access using https is: SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)

Any advice what might go wrong in 'mixing ports' etc?

Users / Re: OpenVPN
« on: January 03, 2010, 01:44:39 pm »
Hi, I would like to access web pages on core securely from outside and have been searching various topics and wiki. I suppose this thread is the most current one - is it so? From the previous posts it looked like the OpenVPN was about to be integrated but it's been a bit quiet on this lately.
Any progress?

Great, thanks for the effort slamp!
This should be obvious (at least by now after the time spent 'studying' LMCE) but: how can one use the Ruby code, i.e. what template should be used to begin with?
Can you still access the cam from WLAN?

Users / Re: Is there any Smoke alarm z-wave ? Or other solution as gc100 ?
« on: December 30, 2009, 06:21:22 pm »
Price is not that bad. USD 100,- each for a smoke detector, wireless with battery and tamper alarm.. (Tamper alarm might be nice if you are renting out parts of your house)
Yeah I didn't mean they were overpriced but that it's quite a difference going from a normal smoke detector that costs 3 bucks, especially in case one needs several of them. In any case, if there's anything you want to spend money on it's protecting your wooden house from fire.
There are also low priced alarms available that can be linked via RF. If one fires, others do too. Then it's only a matter of (testing the whole setup and) connecting physically only one of the alarms to gc100 or something similar. One very interesting alternative can be found here: www.jeelabs.org. I hope to learn GSD and such to a degree that I can use JeeNodes with LinuxMCE. Anyone using those yet..?

how bout a review of the camera quality and whether or not you are satisfied with it.
-Krys

Good value for money at least.. There's a link to the supplier pages with reviews and forum posts at http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/IPC-1002.

If you'd like to see actual image quolity, let me know.

Hey slampt,

how did you name the template for PTZ IP camera, I would like to study that? I suppose you're using the same camera I happen to have, "IPC-1002" from DX (since you started a wiki on that).

I'm trying to set this up, would be willing to add detailed info in wiki if I succeed with this...
