31  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: ZWave Set Associations Error on: September 16, 2012, 06:04:41 pm
Thanks hari,
One last question for davegravy, so I have a zstick and minimote. Excuse the noob lack of understanding but the associations in your case are then stored in the zstick and read in by your core? I assume the homeseer ware was only used temporarily and the core picked up the task of controlling them? Could I use the minimote in place of the homeseer app when I get around to this?
Thanks for the patience:)

I believe the associations are stored in the Zwave module itself,  not the controller. The Zwave module speaks directly to the associated nodes in the default configuration.  If you include the controller node (usually 1) in the associations then module activity will inform the core. Once you set associations via homeseer orbminimote (if possible)  then they should remain after you bring your zstick back to your LMCE core.  Or you can try Hari's fix and set via LMCE.

Ritmo2k,

Yes and no. I was unsuccessful with setting associations via LMCE, however I downloaded a trial version of Homeseer to one of my Win7 computers, plugged in my AEON Zstick, and set the associations that way.

I've reported the issue in detail to Hari, and he is looking into the root of the matter.

Regards,

... It sounds like we may have found an expert!  No I haven't considered that but it gives me additional information to research. Thanks.

Not at all. If you're just plugging these into your MDs, and don't mind having detection limited to the chair sitting area then I don't think you need to worry about this. More of a concern if you're going for a room-wide approach.
36  LinuxMCE / Feature requests & roadmap / Re: Auto-Follow Me? on: September 12, 2012, 03:16:29 pm
Where are you thinking of placing these usb bluetooth transmitters exactly? In the walls, ON the walls, or somewhere else?

Have you thought about the spherical reception pattern and depending on where you place these how it might be possible to confuse someone in Room A as being in Room B?

That's using NodeID=2, GroupID=1, Nodes List= 3,4,5

I've done it successfully with with this configuration before so I know it's supported by the device. Interestingly, if I send negative values  for the node list (remove associations) i get no such error.

I can communicate successfully with all nodes by issuing on/off commands directly to the lmce devices. I've also tried using GroupID=0, and leaving GroupID blank.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong here?
38  LinuxMCE / Users / Installer Awesomesauce on: September 11, 2012, 05:49:46 pm
Aside from some minor edits needed to my interfaces file during the install,  the latest snapshot was the smoothest and fastest LMCE install I've ever done (and I've done a few!) A night and day difference from earlier versions,  and the amount of post-install hacking I've had to do to get things functioning as I want has been far less.

Great work L3mce on the installer and the rest of the team on the hordes of bug fixes and improvements!

Fresh install (09/09 snapshot) and I'm having this issue now too. Happy to help test.

I landed a used GC-100-12 a fraction of the going rate.  I will be anxiously awaking that delivery!  I just happened to stumble onto the larger -12 and I know that I can wire sensors to the screw-in terminals.  For reference though I believe the 3/8" jacks (3.75mm) can also be used for sensors if IR functions are not needed.

Could someone confirm that the jacks work for more than IR emitters?

Only the 3/8" jacks work as input sensors (or IR).  The terminals are relays (useful if you want to, say, control your garage door,  a door chime,  or a security siren)

Version 1 for sure.

If the room tags horizontally across the top of the floorplan extend beyond the end of the screen I assume you would (and can) suffix with "..."  and make it left-right scroll-able?
42  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Asterisk on 10.04 with IAX on: September 07, 2012, 08:38:00 pm
UPDATE: So I got my 7912G working as suggested by daballiemo, Thanks for that. So I created a device Template and will try to  see if I can update the script so we can use more of the functions.

But now to go back to getting this setup in LMCE

So I tried what Foxie said by trying to make a call out, That works from the phone no problem, but still no call in
* IAX does NOT show up with "sip show peers", but can call out.
* SIP does show up with "sip show peers", but can't call out or in.

So I am not sure what ells I can try.
I am using a provider here in New Zealand, 2Talk.co.nz

Any have any other ideas I can try to get this working?

C

I'm about to do a reinstall and will be setting up my Canadian based IAX provider. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

The thing is: As long as it is not a something that can be bought fully build, I would *always* go with a regular binary input. Those are available for Z-Wave and KNX (and probably other systems as well). They are priced below 100USD/EUR, and come with warranty and stuff.

Arduino/rPi/whatever are nice hobbyist solutions. If we start with DIY stuff, where is the support for parallel port input output based systems etc.
* posde goes with regular over the counter stuff.
* posde is a chicken when it comes to SWMBO.

I too am chicken of SWMBO, however none of the over-the-counter options I've found are ideal. Z-wave binary input and KNX seems to be only readily available in the EU (and uses different frequencies from US)... please correct me if you know otherwise as I've searched fairly diligently.

Failing this, I'd rather have an open platform that I can get to work 100% to my (and SWMBO's) liking, and possibly sell this commercially down the line. Time permitting of course.

One other option to note, as was recently discussed in IRC - an Arduino based solution. This isn't developed/supported yet, but it shouldn't be too difficult to implement, and Daballiemo seems to have already started communicating with an Arduino board here: http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Implementing_Arduino_using_Generic_Serial_Device

Much cheaper than a GC-100!
45  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Doorbell... Help Please on: September 06, 2012, 04:41:22 pm
You can accept input and halt further input. It has been a while since I looked into this. I had sensors which detected lack of hydration and implemented this years ago to hydrate soil. I no longer have those.

I'm very interested in this. Right now my entire security system can be disabled by rapidly pressing the doorbell! (Shhh)

Can you recall any other details? Was this a advanced hack, or a simple webadmin setting somewhere?
