Hi Hari, Just wondering if there's any updates you could share with us? I remember seeing on IRC something about a challenge with needing states and the LMCE architecture not being that well suited to it. Is this a showstopper or do you see a path through it? Just to be clear, I don't expect updates from you simply because I pitched in for the hardware. That's unreasonable. But if you don't mind sharing your progress simply to satisfy my curiosity that would be great Cheers

Whoa, space sci-fi metaphor and medieval castle metaphor in one paragraph! 1) A UI that's sexy and snappy. Snappy in and of itself and also network communications that are efficient so as to not cause the UI to lag. 2) NFC-based control events for orbiter, and/or integration between Tasker (android app) and LMCE 3) Don't have a vid camera yet, but I'm slightly discouraged from getting one due to LMCE only supporting single-frame (jpg) communication. If we had encoding and streaming capability, and once our mobile data networks are up to par (speed and reasonable data caps), this would be a deal-maker. 4) An improved advanced scenarios editor, allowing more versatile automation programming. See here: http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,12456.0.html5) Support for NVidia GT4xx cards 6) Support for encrypted Zwave comm. That's a lot to ask, but keep in mind it's mostly icing on the cake type stuff.

I personally would make three tickets, but that's just because I love closing tickets

Note that you shouldn't need to feed power into the GC-100's sensor inputs. Of the 3 pins, i think one is ground, one supplies 5v, and the other is the sensor input. If you short the sensor input to ground it should trigger the input. You shouldn't need any external supply.
That said, my doorbell has a light in it, and requires 16V across it for the light to operate, so I had to build a small circuit to handle this and feed TTL to the GC-100's input.

Make sure in your GC-100's web config that the ports are configured as "Sensor with Auto-Notify".
The default config in web admin otherwise worked for me. Input/output field should be setup as an input, but mine's blank and works fine. Tail the gc-100 device's log in /var/log/pluto and you should see activity during button presses. You don't need the input hardware module, but I think it does debouncing to prevent multiple triggers.
What do I use my GC-100 for?
Sensor inputs connect to: doorbell and all the security devices my house had (probably installed in the 80s) when I bought it, including motion detectors, window/door sensors. Relays connect to: -door chime x 2, one triggers during door presses, the other triggers on alarm system armimg countdown once per second. -alarm siren (if I had one more I'd connect my garage door opener to it)

Is this over 3g? I had this problem a while back and determined that my provider (rogers) charges $10/month to allow vpn access. Something's about port blocking (but not tcp or udp ports). My networking knowledge is lacking however.

LinuxMCE / Users / Funding Drive: ZWave Door Locks

There has been a considerable number of inquiries over the years by people wanting to interface Z-wave controlled door locks with LMCE. Unfortunately this is not currently possible because the current Z-wave driver lacks encryption support.
LMCE's resident Z-wave guru, Hari, has indicated he is willing to implement encryption support if he is provided with a Z-wave door lock device. Hari has indicated that obtaining such a device, which uses EU Z-wave frequencies, will cost him approximately 270 Euros.
Please use this thread as a place to pledge funds towards this effort. We can work out payment details later, once it's clear there's sufficient support.
I'll start off by pledging 50 Euros.

IME, if you have a SWMBO, she will be infinitely more supportive of LMCE in your home if you replace flickr pictures with:
* Wedding photos * Family photos * Favourite pictures of hers from Facebook etc...
But your ideas are cool ones.
