Sounds about right, I imported a bunch of my videos and that's when it started happening.  when i get home I'll check that as well.

I'm having issues with the Alpha list on the right.  when I click a letter on the right it just takes me to the top of the list.  Anyone heard of that?  I was able to get it to scroll page by page, but it just doesn't work that well.  Searching is much easier.

I agree, even with the mouse it is hard to do.  But I thought it might be easier with something that was Gyro based.

Sorry, no, When you are on the orbiter screen and you select Media then Videos it comes up with a list of all your videos.  on the right hand side you have the Alphabetical list as well as the first screen of videos to choose from.  So if you take your mouse and drag it over that list, up or down it will provide you up arrows or down arrows and flip the screen to the next 10 or so videos.  I'm unable to do this with the WiiMote.  The cursor will travel to the top of the screen or the bottom but not provide the flipping of the pages.  Only way to get to more videos is to do a search.

Hope that explains better...  the 1/4 of the screen thing is not the problem, although I have already implemented what he suggested because I am using a sensor bar as well.

I was able to resolve it.  As much as you think to type in everything that is on your screen there are some things that are supposed to be edited.  :)

Modified /etc/wminputd.conf

from
Code: [Select]
#this is the config file for the wminputd
#enter the wiimote mac address, you can find it with
#hcitool scan  and then press the red button
#besides the battery's off the wiimote
#Then place the show'n mac address as follows
WIIMOTE_BDADDR="00:AA:00:BB:AA:FF"

to
Code: [Select]
#this is the config file for the wminputd
#enter the wiimote mac address, you can find it with
#hcitool scan  and then press the red button
#besides the battery's off the wiimote
#Then place the show'n mac address as follows
WIIMOTE_BDADDR="<MY MAC ADDRESS FOR THE WII CONTROLER>"

rebooted, problem solved.  One question though.  It is behaving as a mouse, But when you are looking through your videos, with a mouse you can go to the top of the screen and it will page it up.  Same with the bottom of the screen.  For the Wii Controller, it just stops and nothing happens.  Anyone ran across this?

Ok, when I choose "No, Not at this time" the remote still doesn't work.

What could I be missing?  when I do the steps on the Wiki it behaves correctly I.E. I can get the Mac address of the Wii controller etc...

I have followed the directions on the Wiki for setting up the wii remote.  http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Nintendo_WiiMote

However, I'm having some problems.  when the system boots up, I press the 1 and 2 buttons at the same time and it detects a mobile phone.  How should I configure this?

Thanks

Installation issues / Re: Installation can't chose correct resolution
« on: April 06, 2009, 12:32:45 pm »

Hi.  I'm new to LinuxMCE and I can't get my screen resolution to work properly.  I have a Gigabyte GeForce 8400 GS card with VGA and DVI out, connected to an LG 42" screen with 1366x720 resolution.

I had the initial problem with needing to attach a VGA cable during installation (was using DVI).  I chose DVI and 720p, but it seemed like whenever I got to the confirmation screen it still told me I was using 640x480.  Following through the installation confirmed this, as although the screen took the full picture, X looked to be about 640x480.

I then used the instructions at http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Custom_Display_Resolutions to enable the 1366x720 resolution.  I went through the setup wizard again, but still I'm running into problems.  It seems like each time I try things work out slightly, differently, but by and large if I have both my VGA and DVI plugs connected from my computer to my monitor, using my new custom resolution won't "take".  I start in VGA, choose DVI and 1366x720, go to next, and switch my input to DVI.  I watch my screen flicker for maybe 20 seconds, and then I get "no signal".  Switching back to VGA shows that it has reverted back there.  I wonder if maybe some of the timings are wrong for my monitor at that resolution?

I also wonder if maybe my video card is doing something like refusing to output anything higher than 1024x768 while there's something connected to the VGA port.  I've tried just using DVI and using the arrow and number keys to blindly choose the correct settings as recommended, but for some reason that never seems to work for me.

For now, the best I can do is 1024x768 4:3 on my 720p 16:9 monitor, which is, of course, not very good at all.  Is there a way I can just set this up without going through the wizard?

Thanks for any help,
- Andrew.

Try this...  I had a problem close to this when I started with it as well.  I would remove your VGA cable and only have the DVI cable attached.  once the AV Wizard starts (You can tell by the tones from the PC speaker) Press the 1 key on your keyboard and it should switch over to DVI and have the AVWizard on your screen.  Below are the links I had to read...  Hope it helps.  Others may have better suggestions as I'm a Newbie as well.

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/AVWizard_running_steps

Section II

Another method to choose the resolutions and the connector is by pressing some keyboard keys. By default, the AV Wizard has the resolution 640x480 on VGA. To choose the connector you have to press the keys from 1 to 5 (1=DVI, 2=VGA, 3=Component, 4=Composite, 5=S-Video). To choose a resolution you have to press the keys from 6 to 0 (6=640x480, 7=1024x768, 8=720p, 9=1080i, 0=1080p). For choosing the resolution and connector you have to be in the initial screen of AV Wizard.

Thank you for finding this out and taking the time to make it work.

Would you please send a patch to the upstream maintainers, so that everyone can benefit from this, including us when we package this for release so that this fix will not have to be manually applied?

-Thom

I'll be happy to.  I'm new to linux as of 4 months ago.  Always have been a windows guy.  So how do you send a patch to the Upstream maintainers?  Is it enough that I provide the lirc_mceusb2.c?

Let me know and I'll provide anything you like.

Good news!  It is FIXED!!!  Suggestion for the Wiki...

Edit the lirc_mceusb2.c file again...

Add the following to the #Define section
Code: [Select]
#define VENDOR_PINNACLE         0x2304
go down through the file and look for
Code: [Select]
case 0x8F:
Add the following above it
Code: [Select]
case 0x90:
rebuild and it should work.

Ok, thanks.  I really appreciate all the help you have provided me.  I think I will look through all the compatible Remotes and purchase one.

Did that, and it didn't work.  It detects it.  But still comes up with the message that a device did not start correctly.  I followed all the original instructions as well.  Any thoughts?

Ok, this time it built correctly.  How can I check that it is installed correctly?  it looked like it was installing...  Is there a test I can run to determine this?
