16  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Where to buy WebDT 366 on: June 17, 2009, 11:03:26 pm
I cant talk about N810, but i cant talka bout WebDT and Nokia 770.
I first bought Nokia and was amazed with its funcionallity. But the screen was too small for me. I bout WebDT and immediately forgot about Nokia; WebDT is the best thing i ever saw as an Orbiter (i have also Fire Chiief, Nokia N95 using JAVAMO, and Nokia N70). I have 3 Webdts, 2 are mounted on the wall and use as "central" remotes for the room they are in, and one is "mobile orbiter". I have to charge that one every day, but its worth the hassle. Just like i charge my cellphone every day:D.
IF You have the money for Webdt, go for it, You wont regret it, trust me.

Listen mate, ppl are here to help, not to teach.
You dint provide enough information.
Basiccly, You have to have 2 NICs in You LMCE, one is external, connects to the switch or the router which goes to the internet
Other NIC is internal, which You connect to the switch and ALL of stuff You wish to have in LMCE.
So, You can connect Your external NIC directly tzo the router, place siwthc in the internal network and attach WAP to it. then You can try to load WebDT.
Seriously, read what i gave You, YOu will get an idea why it is done that way: http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Network_Settings

18  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: ANN: Orbiter image for WebDT 366 on: June 15, 2009, 07:39:06 pm
Is Your WAP (Wireless Access Point) connected to a switch which is connected to Your core? IF not, put it LMCE internal network, shut off WAPs DHCP, let LMCE do DHCP and I am sure YOu will have a go with Your WebDT.
For a start, take a look here: http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Network_Settings

P. S. NIC is Network Interface Card.

Make sure You dont have MAC filtering turned on, like i did:)spent 4 hours going mad until i remembered i had MAC filtering turned on.
Also make sure You type ESSID EXACTLY, including capital and small letters.

Check out EEE Top, http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/ASUS_Eee_Top. Its perfect for a kitchen/study/basement MD. I am seriously thinking of buying it, but price here in Croatia is enormously high, around 800$, while on ebay You can get it for around 499$.
22  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Advice on using MCE for Home automation with current structured wiring on: May 24, 2009, 11:49:12 pm
Anyone see anything wrong with repurposing this machine as a core to start with?
Compaq 6000 Pro WS dual p4 at 2ghz  2 GB. nvidia quadra . I added a sata controller and have 1 TB for the OS and esata port for  drive in it. This box is about 7 years old.

DOnt know about quadro support, but if Youa re planning to use it as headless core (not as Media Director) i think it should be fine. Dont forget the second NIC!

Looking at Nokia N800s as orbiters.

N800 is nice Orbiter, but believe me go for WebDT 366. I have 3 of them and i just love them. They are perfect. You cam mount them on a wall and have kind of "central" control i every room, and have one or two mobile and carry them from one room to another.
N800 is great, but kinda to small. WebDT 366 is just the perfect size.

Please see my previous post in this thread.  Hopefully someone can volunteer to undertake that.

Alex, i came acroos this site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/musicandvideo/hdvideo/contentshowcase.aspx

There are 720p and 1080p videos, all encoded in WMV and 24 fps. MAybe we could use those for HD testing?
25  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Survey: What Graphics Chip is Working for You? on: May 17, 2009, 11:27:55 pm

On motherboard

7. Did you have to perform any special installation steps to get your graphics chip working for you?
Had to manually enter nvidia instead of vesa in xorg.conf file

8. Is there anything else that you think others should know about your graphics chip?
Nothing special it works better over DVI, fonts in KDE are much more readable.

Alex,i cant find the right words to thank You enough on this new Wiki. I have been around LMCE for a year now and was trying to get all of important stuff in one place.Your wiki has all i wanted to gather,THANK YOU.
I was wondering would it be possible for You to put somewhere on the Web the video files You were using for testing,so others (like me) could use them also and post our own results in Your wiki. That way we could build a nice DB for everyone and start a great and detailed Wiki page.
27  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: MythTV problems...xmltv questions on: May 13, 2009, 10:50:55 pm
Thanks for the info MArk, i thing i got it straighten out. For testing purposes i added 3 channels using XMLTV grabber. I had to manually enter their frequencies in mythweb and after that all works like a charm. Thank You again for putting up with me:)
I will put all of my troubles into my wiki site for other users to learn.
Here is my screene shoot so feel free to comment if anything is wrong.

P. S. Since this was just a test, can i just add all of my other programs, or should i go again through the whole procedure?
28  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: MythTV problems...xmltv questions on: May 13, 2009, 03:14:40 pm
Hmm, shouldnt have YAYED before i double-checked Angry Now i dont have any of my chanels, but i do have guide data.
So, i went from the beginning, deleted all of the cards, source inputs....
And i am a bit puzzled. Since i am using cable for my TV, shouldnt i scan for the channels first? If i do that, can i somehow "connect" scanned channels with TV guide data from xmltv?
Before i did this: In video sources i added a new source named "tuner" and chose xmltv grabber. In konsole window during the scan i anwsered on all of the questions. After that in Source Input i conected my Tuner1 with tuner created earlier. And now what?shoild u choose to Fetch channels from listing source, or Scan for channels? Sorry if this questions are stupid for You guys, but i feel like i am so close to it, just doing something stupid Grin Grin
Thanks in advance
29  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: MythTV problems...xmltv questions on: May 13, 2009, 01:14:03 pm
Thanks guys, somehow i did manage to get all my channels listed and now i have TV guide for them and icons, YAY Grin Cheesy Smiley
But now, something strange happenes. When i click TV on my Core/Hybrid Orbiter i get the following message:
"You must be a member of the "mythtv" group before starting any mythtv applications. Would You like to automatically be added to the group? (Note: sudo access required)". What the hell??
I can watch TV from KDE desktop using MYthTV Frontend. Any ideas guys? Thanks in advance. I will put in my wiki page how i got thing sorted out and point to Your wiki page Domodude.
30  LinuxMCE / Users / MythTV problems...xmltv questions on: May 12, 2009, 03:05:42 pm
Hi all.
After over a year with experimenting with LMCE i decided to give a try with my PVR150MCE card. After installing it manuallay (LMCE did autodetect it, but didnt have my cable provider listed) with no problems, i am having some problems with mythtv backend.
I live in Zagreb, Croatia. I see there is a built-in xml grabber for Croatia, but after i choose it, a progress bar appears locked at 50% (i guess thats mythvfilldatabase?) and it just sits there for hours. Can i somehow run mythvfilldatabase on my own?
I also tryied simply scanning for channels and that went with no problems at all, all channels were found. But i am interested in xmltv for guide data.
My setup is 0710, 2 nics, PVR150MCE.
Hope anyone can help me.
