LinuxMCE / Developers / New Onkyo device
|
on: July 18, 2011, 06:06:32 pm
|
|
So, I recently picked up a new Onkyo receiver that has an Ethernet port instead of the serial. This makes it much easier to hook up to my LinuxMCE system but I now need to create the new device and I have two questions.
First, how can I copy the old device to a new one? All the same items apply and I was hoping to shortcut things a little bit.
Second, it appears that the same connection type can be used since it supports both serial and network connections but how do I send binary data? The string values are the same but there is a bunch of header/footer information that needs sent in a binary format.
Thanks!

LinuxMCE / Users / 1004 dependency problems
|
on: July 18, 2011, 05:57:55 pm
|
|
Hello!
I'm testing out 1004 (on a clean install) and found a couple dependency problems. So far php-pear was not installed, which broke the weborbiter and, just recently, I upgraded and pluto-proxy-orbiter (2.0.0.45.11071624219) now depends upon an older version of bluez-utils because the newest version doesn't provide /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf nor /etc/init.d/bluez-utils. It looks like bluez now includes /etc/init.d/bluetooth and I have yet to find what provides /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf or it's replacement. I'll keep digging and see what else I can find. If anyone already knows the fix (or it has been fixed) let me know.
I'm guessing the php-pear dependency just needs tacked onto the requirements for pluto-website-admin.

I tried to set it up but didn't get it working. Then started back at the university so no time. I'll have a little time to play with it in the next few weeks. Any new notes on getting it running or just read this thread?

LinuxMCE / Developers / Hulu desktop app for Linux released
|
on: October 09, 2009, 05:20:20 pm
|
With the release of the Hulu desktop app at http://www.hulu.com/labs/hulu-desktop-linux, does anyone have any ideas how (or if) there is an integration path for this? The application comes in a deb for Ubuntu 32 or 64 and depends on: - GTK+ 2.12 or higher
- GLib 2.16 or higher
- LIRC 0.8.2 or higher
It has support for lirc and a settings file for keymaps, etc. so there might be some kind of hope for it.

dothedog, I ignored the other updates by manually running apt-get update packagenamehere on my MD.
But I guess that doesn't matter any longer since disabling NetworkManager worked perfectly! Thanks!

<info> (eth0): device state change: 1 -> 2 Yeah, that looks familiar. No, I never figured it out since I got it working, updated just the pluto/linuxmce stuff, ignored the core Ubuntu updates, and all is working then I started back to college and have had no time to monkey with it. I'll probably have LOTS of time in December between semesters to test this out and get more detail. My current belief is it was one of the packages (from Ubuntu, not linuxmce) that has to do with the networking stack, not the drivers or kernel itself. I upgraded all my packages except the kernel once and still got the problem. I have a large list to go through and I have to reboot every time to test so it takes a while. I plan on doing a binary search for it. Upgrade half the list. Reboot. Fail? Rebuild and cut that list in half again. Of course, I don't know what do do once I find the package!

I had what appears to be the same problem. If you hit Control-F12 (IIRC) then you get a list of recent messages from the system. The very last one I get is about the network card changing state. Network cards changing their connection state on a network boot is not a good thing. I got this when I updated my media director and it pulled some update from Ubuntu that broke this for me. I'm still trying to figure out what package.

Jimbodude, that sounds just like my scenario. Just a little more info on it, my system was completely unresponsive and appeared to be in a swap of death. My hard drive light was stuck on and I could not log in to it from any where. After about 20 minutes of trying, I hard powered off the machine. That is when these problems started. This also happened on the same machine on the 7.10 series and is actually the reason why I switched to the beta. What I am going to suggest is that this folder get cleared early on in startup. Has anyone entered a ticket yet? If not, I will. If so, post it here.
