Developers / Re: Transmission torrent on LinuxMCE
« on: August 21, 2013, 04:47:19 pm »
It's mostly not integrated, except that i have an on-complete script that Tranmission executes when a torrent completes. This on-complete script calls MessageSend which posts a pop-up notification to my orbiters. I started looking into having it also use email notification via LMCE.

Unrelated to LMCE is that I have the on-complete script calling Notify My Android to send push notices to my mobile devices.

Would you mind sharing your scripts?  I'd really appreciate it.  Feel free to add them to the ticket.

robwoodward75:
After setting up according to the included instructions I get a 403 IP Address Forbidden error trying to access the transmission status page.

Code: [Select]
403: Forbidden
Unauthorized IP Address.
Either disable the IP address whitelist or add your address to it.

So I edited /etc/default/transmission-daemon and added "-a 192.168.80.*" to the OPTIONS= line.  That gets past the 403 error.  Now it asks for a username and password.  Which appears to be "transmission"/"transmission".

It appears as though the interface is working.  I'm going to test a couple of torrents.

If you can fix up an install script that includes the edit to the config file then we can put a package together.  Then we can add it to the Add Software page, and work on more integration.

davegravy:
What is your level of transmission integration into lmce?  Are you currently using transmission events to trigger notifications?

For developers who are currently getting their feet wet on 1204 alpha you can now (soon) create Media Directors with a Raspberry Pi Model B 512MB.  There are quirks and there is a lot that doesn't work.  Enough functionality exists for me to call this an 'alpha' version.

So that people do not have to sort through endless forum posts to figure things out I will use the wiki for most relevant information.

MD creation instructions are available in the wiki - http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/RaspberryPi

Development status can be checked/followed on the Porting Raspbian wiki page - http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Porting_Raspbian

Bug reports should be made by filing trac tickets against the component "Raspbian/RPi MD" at http://svn.linuxmce.org/

I'll do my best to answer questions and help people out.  Find me on irc.

My short answer is "I don't know"  :-)  Let us know how your testing goes!

No, it is required prior to creating new MDs under 1204, but not for upgrading.

I created a new climate device, checked it in, and have been using it for quite some time now. I realized that I had forgotten something in one of the modes ("off") and went to go fix it. I made my change and saved. Now it dropped all the configuration and then reloaded it all as a Denon receiver. Um, what? I went and reverted in sqlCVS and no change. Now I hit reload and all my code is gone and loading up as a Denon receiver. All I was doing was trying to turn off my fan.

Help please!

What has happened is that your template, when approved, clobbered the Denon IR Group in the Denon template.  I had to fix IR group because it was affecting Denon users.  If you sqlCVS update of the IR table you should find the IR group is selectable from the IR editing window.  Your database may now be out of sync and may not be able to pick up the IR group properly.  If this is the case it will require manual intervention and fixing of your local database (a tedious task).

The reason this happened was that another template was submitted and approved after yours was submitted, but prior to it being approved.  This is a known issue with the sqlCVS system.  If you catch me on IRC this weekend Saturday aft/evening (eastern standard time) or sunday then I can help you fix your database, if needed.   Update your IR table and see if you receive the new IR Group, it is on schema and showing properly on my systems.

The chroot method will be MUCH faster.

Look at Diskless_CreateTBZ.sh and find the mount/unmount commands in it.  You will need to use the same mounts / umounts to run in chroot.

Have you tried upgrading the MDs through chroot on the core?  Upgrading the MD on the MD itself will be extremely slow due to the network file system.

The other option, and likely the best, is re-running Diskless_CreateTBZ.sh on the core, setting the needs configure flag in the db for each of the Generic PC as MD devices, and then running Diskless_Setup.sh to recreate the MD filesystems.

iirc, nothing in pluto-confirm-dependencies will alter /usr/pluto/bin/Config_Ops.sh

For anyone wondering what is working and what is not in 1204:
There is a lot that is not working completely in 1204 at this point.  Very little has been tested.

What users can do to help:
We need testers to identify the current issues and file trac tickets at svn.linuxmce.org so the issues can be looked at.  Be sure to search for an existing ticket identifying the same issue before creating a new one and then check the ticket regularly to see if there has been any action or questions.  This will help devs to trac the issues properly.

And, thank you to anyone who tests and files tickets for us!

ps, Polly: you're doing a great job on the upgrade script.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the prices as well.  I am definitely going with the buried induction sensor.  It seems to be the only device that will not be interfered with by snow and other weather events.  :)

Thanks guys.

:)  Yes I have been googling.  I was wondering if others had had any experience with any driveway sensor devices.

posde: ty, I have seen one of those links, but not the cartell one.

tschak: My parents would like the detection to work for any vehicle, not just theirs, otherwise I really like your suggestion!

Thanks a bunch guys!  I am definitely looking into buried induction sensors as IR break-beam gets mucked up by snow banks covering the sensor/receiver and PIR can trip on too many different things.

Ah, good question!  Only vehicle traffic at this point.

I am looking to use a driveway sensor to sense vehicles coming into a long driveway and hope to use it to switch on driveway lighting and entrance lighting.  This is for my parents house and so it may not be tied to lmce directly, but I may make use of the same thing at my house.  I am looking for something with a relay contact or such.  Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
J.
