Is this a core or md?  What hardware are you using?  This was happening with EeeBox B202's with older bios's.

What movies did you rip? Where are you located?
Please tell if you can rip dvd´s and if they are automatically identified together with info which country you live in.

In the past week the following have been successful with covers and data:
12 Monkeys
8 Mile
Akira
Aladdin
Big Trouble in Little China
Death Race 2000
The Big Lebowski
Die Another Day (007)
World Is Not Enough (007)

There were a couple titles that did not get data correctly:
The Best of the Blues Brothers
The Abyss: Special Edition

I'm in Canada.

I've tried just about everything.  UI2 boots with your xorg.conf *sometimes*, it still crashes at least 50% of the time.  When ui2 does show, the menus are garbled and unusable and there is no PSS showing.  This is what I always used to get with ui2 on the b202, this issue is fixed in a newer intel driver but requires a newer ubuntu to install.  I'm at a loss.  I'll go back to ui1 for now, it doesn't appear that I can get ui2 under any circumstances right now.

Works fine for me, I've got the latest updates and it ripped 2 movies and found data automatically last night.

Hmm, I had done that previously without success.  That was before I did the bios update on the b202.  I'll try it again, if I get it working I'll work to have it implemented.

Pedplar:  Which driver version did you use and from which source?  There's a trac ticket open for this issue that I'd like to update if there is a working scenario.

I also have updated the B202 bios and do not experience the UI1 black screen.

I am having no problems with ui1.  There are issues with ui2 and 0810.  The intel drivers will need to be updated and that will likely happen when 1004 is released.

Thanks for the files. It works great on my core. But different story when it comes to my MDs. Can't play any DVDs on them after updating them. (unfortunately, I didn't backup the files on the MDs) One of them is 64 bit. Any ideas on troubleshooting?

I believe the 12-12-2009 update replaced the pluto-disk-drive package which would, I think, overwrites a file supplied by Itsik.  So if you update your core or MDs it could prevent some of this functionality.

I havn't tested this since the 12-12-09 update so I'm only speculating.

My UIRT works just fine pointing into the room (red led towards the couch) without the Xantech emitters.  Of course, ymmv, if you have issues you should use the Xantech emitters as posde suggests.  Try it.

Scenarios are only generated for MDs which are in rooms.  If AVWizard crashed and you hacked past it then you never made it to the Setup Wizard to tell LMCE what room the MD is in.  You can either run the Setup Wizard from 'Advanced->Setup Wizard' using the onscreen Orbiter or...

Check the webadmin under Devices->Media Directors, each MD needs to be assigned to a room.   Each MD has a pull-down menu selection bar under the Device/Room heading, this is where the 'room' is defined for each MD.  If it says '- Please Select -' then the MD is not assigned to a room.  If you set the room in the web admin and then reload the router then regenerate all your orbiters the Media Scenarios should show up.

Recently I added an MD and it didn't reach the setup wizard (I don't know why) and I set the room through the webadmin, reloaded then regened and the Scenarious appeared.

Installation issues / Re: HVR-4000
« on: December 11, 2009, 07:09:59 pm »
Looking at the Mythtv wiki it looks like a little work is needed (firmware must be extracted from the windows driver for use in linux):

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HVR-4000

and it also references:

http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-HVR-4000

which provides instructions on extracting and using the windows firmware...

It would be great to package this up properly so the card is plug-n-play in LMCE.

Users / Re: AAC multi-channel to AC3 on-the-fly re-encode with Xine?

A dumb question - what audio is on Bluray DVD's ?  (did not have time to research it)

From wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc#Audio):
Quote
Audio

For audio, BD-ROM players are required to support Dolby Digital (AC-3), DTS, and linear PCM. Players may optionally support Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio as well as lossless formats Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.[57] BD-ROM titles must use one of the mandatory schemes for the primary soundtrack. A secondary audiotrack, if present, may use any of the mandatory or optional codecs.

So by default all BD must use a format which is supported over S/PDIF (ac3, dts, 2ch-pcm).

OK, that explains why there is no audio when playing theese 5.1 clips :
http://www.h264info.com/clips.html

Yepper.  Although I do get audio when I play them, I only get the L&R channels in LPCM format through the S/PDIF cable.

I use the Fantastic 4 720P trailer and one of the I am Legend 1080P trailers, from that site, for my testing.  The FF trailer plays with audio just fine because it is stereo.  The I am Legend trailer only passes the L&R audio.  Anything encoded with multi-channel (>2ch) AAC will act this way (wrt audio).

Not sure if this is of any help, Onkyo seems to support AAC.

Many, many receivers support AAC... through Ethernet UPNP and USB.  I've not found any device that supports AAC over S/PDIF, I don't believe it is possible.

I did some playing and a little php/html learning and have altered the script to the point where it outputs a file I can save.  This part was pretty easy.  I don't know if the output is correct as I am not very familiar with the database.  I am unable to import the resulting file back into the database as I am getting sql errors on insert statements.  I am looking into this and will post any progress I make.
