Updated my skins folder, re-ran the qorbiter-generator.php for my device ids.  Grabbed the new experimental apk on each device.  Results:

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G likes the photos running in the background.  ;)  Nice touch.  Functionality is improved across a lot of the interface.  Maturing well!  Great job!  No 'Play All' button for audio media, have to play tracks individually.  Power menu appears, didn't do anything when I selected an option.  Selecting the 'Room' button at the bottom loads some pictures along the top at the left hand side of the screen that have no text, actually I think the orbiter screen is pushed up off the display by the amount consumed by the Android Os tablet menu along the bottom of the screen, all the screens appear to be missing this chunk of pixels along the top of display.

The Samsung Galaxy S Glide phone (Captivate Glide stateside) is not working.  App starts, gets to 'Setting up Lmce' and freezes.  No response.  Have to kill it from the task manager.  I'll have to remove the app and config folder and re-install to see if this fixes the app load.

Performed a fresh install on my wifes phone, identical, and the app loads.  Go to choose a room and the list appears but we are unable to select a room, the list never closes.  Lights on/off works.  Advanced menu shows, haven't tested buttons on this menu yet.  Video menu brings up a list of videos, some pics show, but all text is showing as small boxes in place of each letter of the titles/names.  Choosing items to play videos works, now playing screen shows text properly.  Volume up/down works in media playback.  Audio list is similar to video list, blocks for letters.  No 'Play All' but playback of individual tracks is working.  Audio track info in the now playing screen is showing blocks for letters in the text.

Icon is great, nicer than the large 'Q' :).

If you want more specifics or real-time feedback in irc let me know.

phenigma,

Have you tested virtualbox against the new installer DVD??? What's your experience with running inside of virtualbox??? Positive? Negative? OK, but with issues?

Have you tried KVM at all.

Please do not take this the wrong way JaseP, I mean no disrespect, but I do not intend to hijack this thread for a discussion of these topics.  In short: No, varied, depends, sometimes, definitely.  You should search the forum, there have been numerous discussions of running lmce under virtual box and there is more knowledge there than I have about the topic.  Wiki probably has topics too.  I'd be happy to respond to a PM or discuss this in a new topic.

To be on topic: I find lmce works best on virtualbox with the vboxvideo driver enabled rather than the default vesa driver.

  • Video Cards are completely plug n play now. If you swap cards, it will know. So if you upgrade your onboard nvidia 8200 for instance to a GT260, it will know, purge the old driver and install the appropriate one for you.

Hmm, this is causing me problems with a net install on 1004.  The AVWizard pops up after each and every reboot.  I complete it successfully and orbiter loads, etc, etc... on reboot the AVWizard returns every time.  This may be fixed by issues you mentioned earlier and the newer 20120321 build, I'll check it tonight.

With an unknown video card the AVWizard was NOT creating an xorg.conf which was causing X to crash.

I have a patch, that I will submit tonight, that adds virtualbox video driver detection to your re-worded scripts so X (avwizard, orbiter, etc) will load in virtualbox.

Thanks for wiki page.

I'd like to ask additional question : can I check what is happening in certain Entertainment zone (whether media is playing, or no,...) ?

You're welcome.  I have not tested querying for information other than State.  I am happy to do a little playing when I'm at my system next to find out though.

Any chance of you adding that to the wiki for future users?

That's essentially what I'm doing, although I'm using command 247 "Get Device State" to query the state of zwave lights.

My core will only return the default data, not the live data (at least for house mode).

I'm interested in something opposite of Messagesend. Is it possible to determine device status, or housemode, etc from the command-line?

I use messagesend to query device status.  I don't have my system in front of me but messagesend can query device status and return a result that is easily parsed.  I use it to check for the status of certain devices before acting on events.

I have found the advanced editor to be rather lacking in the ability to act based on the status or state of other devices.  I'd love to have a way to do this with the advanced editor but I have had no luck myself.

I do not have a solution to your query, sorry.

I'll have a look at that.  Haven't tested in a couple of days, I'll check my version and see where it's at.

Updated qml, rebuilt orbiter.

Runs on both my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and my Samsung Galaxy S Glide (Captivate Glide in US).  Looks good on the tablet.  Very minimal on the phone, I expect this is different skins, I haven't checked.

Some issues on both but the scenarios show up on both and I can select rooms.
Sometimes they crash before completing to load the app.
User selection works on the tablet, not on the phone.
Advanced screen works on the tablet, not the phone.
Media grids sometimes crash on both.
I can't seem to 'play' any media with either, no 'play all' button either.
Doesn't appear to be a 'Now Playing' screen available like the original orbiter.

Some of the above is likely known, I'm just passing on my observations.  Coming along nicely!  Let me know if there is anything you'd like me to try.

On my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 the qorbiter loads and runs.  I can choose a user.  No scenarios show up, the advanced button works, the power button causes a lock-up.

On my phone Samsung Galaxy S Glide (Captivate Glide in the USA) the app loads to show a black screen only.

Anything I can check or do to help?

Just installed i and it works :)

Thank you so much for your efforts.

You're welcome.  I am glad others are able to make use of the upgrade.

One thing tough. I have this one MKV that did not work before, now the video works great and even the subtitles. The only thing not working is the sound (which works as usual in other videos). The receiver doesn't even pickup he stream at first. After a minutes or so it suddenly switches to DTS, but still no sound is preasent.
In the web admin, the sound card is configures as HDA Nvidia and the AC3/DTS pass thru is checked.
Is there anyway to check what's going on ?

What kind of audio is stored in the file?  DTS & AC3 should play fine (I have no issues whatsoever with either).  AAC stereo should play just fine as well.  AAC multichannel audio will likely fail to play, although xine fails to play these files at all for me unless I reconfigure it.  Check my wiki for how I reconfigure xine.conf to enable AAC multichannel on 0810.  I have been unable to get multichannel AAC to work on 1004, something between the alsa version and the nvidia drivers is the likely cause but beyond me to figure out right now.

I have at other times had issues with sound on MDs and I usually re-run the avwizard and everything is fixed.  My audio is set for 'Standard Sound Card', I've never tried changing it to HDA nvida.  Not sure what effect that would have, if any.

One more question, is there any way to control the font/encoding of the subtitles ?

I believe that these are controlled through xine-ui, but I am not certain.  I do not have much media with subtitles, mostly Blu-Ray on disc.
