I am not sure we are talking about the same thing. Are your steps in the orbiter ?

I want to keep scrolling through the performers of my music. This is the highest level. One you click on a performer you get all the albums of that performer.  In that screen I do not get relevant information. I would like to go straight to all the music titles of the performer.

I was thinking about if there would be an option of removing all album information from the database. But I hope there is a nicer way of changing this. Sorry if I am misunderstanding the anwer given.

Hi Tim, I do not understand what you mean. The only source I can find is in the audio part of the orbiter and there I can only choose between public or my user. I quess you do not mean that ?

When looking for music on performer and after choosing a performer you get in the album screen. After choosing the artist you get to the title screen. I never payed attention to fill in the album information of songs. Is it possible to configure LMCE that it will skip the album screen so it will show right away the titles that are there for that artist.

Installation issues / Kubuntu security updates
« on: January 31, 2009, 12:27:32 am »
Question I did not find post on or wiki articles. My brother is using normal Ubuntu and gets regular updates. Specially security updates. Do I need to check updates for Kubuntu 7.10 ?

How is that implemented with LMCE ?

Installation issues / Re: Using additional button on Logitec MX Air
« on: January 31, 2009, 12:02:34 am »
Before I did the reinstall in thought why not try with BTNX for using additional buttons. No issues if I mess up my system. Am I getting myself into trouble by using BTNX ?

I have F6, F7 and F8 working now on my buttons.

If not I will document my instructions on the wiki

Not sure what you exactly mean but I quess you talk about the pictured orbiter with all the menus on the bottom ? You have to use UI2 in the AVwizard at installation or startup. Not sure your system is capable of showing this UI. Depends on the VGA card.

Look at this wiki page:
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/AVWizard_Step_by_Step

UI2 is the opengl ones

success

Users / Re: Update Media Daemon: eats cpu despite being disabled
« on: January 30, 2009, 09:29:09 am »
Thanks for the suggestion. Tried it and I do not see anything consuming high amounts of CPU. But still didnĀ“t solve my issues of being unable to normally play any media. I have removed a disk from another USB disk I found and add it inside the pc. Since the issue stopped when I remove the USB drive I hope it is gone.

Users / TV streams added to Video category in orbiter
« on: January 29, 2009, 10:52:03 pm »
I am still curious why played TV streams are added to the Video category in the orbiter. This is not the case with music streams. You will not see them back in the Audio category. Can I stop the addition of the TV streams to the Video category ?

Secondly I heard that there are issues with storing TV streams that do not have a file extention and that start with an IP address. The problem I heard was that the link is not stored correct in the DB.

Who can shine a light on this for me.

Well, what I will do this weekend I will reinstall from scratch again. Will look again afterwards and update. Thanks for your support.

Sorry about coming back to this post but since today I have a strange behavior again on my USB disk. I am not sure when it starts but suddenly my CPU is completely used. It is impossible to play any media from then. If I remove the USB drive the CPU goes down to the normal value again. I do not see a process that is using a huge amount of CPU power in the performance tool on the KDE desktop.

more people that have seen this behavior before

Not sure what you are meaning. The file on my system was not there. There was a file named like that on another place. I have installed using the standard LinuxMCE 7.10 RC2 DVD. I wonder what is going wrong then and why the file was not there ?
