Users / Re: New update for schedules direct
« on: February 02, 2009, 08:51:30 pm »
I am having a problem that I have seen mentioned several places, including one in this thread by Thom.  Putting my schedulesdirect credentials in the setup wizard fails.  This started immediately after I did a restore.  The error is exactly as Thom described previously:

"arrggg!!! help!

I did the update, no errors noticed, but when I try to enter my username and password in the wizard, it says, "There was an error retrieving your provider information, please check your username/password/location" ...

I have logged in several times to schedulesdirect.org flawlessly from a blank form, my username and password work... why is it not working inside LinuxMCE? has anyone else had this problem?

Installation issues / Re: Schedulesdirect manual entry

:)
It is located under "Files & Media", the Under "Media Providers"

and example of what is under mine:

Code: [Select]
Media Providers
Description                              Media type Action
DISH Harrisburg Harrisburg Satellite 170  LiveTV         Delete
DISH Harrisburg Harrisburg Satellite 170    LiveTV         Delete

You will be presented with a description and a media type, in my description it says DISH for dish network, and the type of programming. The media type is LiveTV.

However if it is having issues downloading from schedules direct, I would suspect you "Internet facing" NIC connection. I have seen this error before, and it was because I had a bad cable on my outward, internet connected card.

Just food for thought.

Best of Luck and Regards,

Seth

Seth,
There are no media providers listed in the area you mentioned.  When I add one, there is no place to add credentials.  There are only two fields: description, and media type.  My outside NIC is fine.  I did think of that and I've tested it several ways.  First, I can connect PCs from behind the core and connect to any outside website I can think of.  I have also run pings tests from the core to the outside world with no problems.  I have seen my problem mentioned elsewhere in the forums but there are no replies with any solutions or details past what you just suggested.  Since this problem happened immediately after a restore I have to believe there is a config file somewhere that's broken.  I just don't know where.

Thanks for your suggestions and please let me know if you (or anyone) have any more.

I'm having the exact same problem and a reinstall is not a great option for me.  I'd like to know why the schedulesdirect connection is broken and how / where to fix it.  ANY help is appreciated.

Installation issues / Schedulesdirect manual entry
« on: January 31, 2009, 05:12:50 am »
I did a restore and now I'm getting an error (There was an error retrieving provider information) when entering my schedulesdirect.org account information.  I'm positive i have the login credentials correct (they work on the website).  At the end of the message, it says I can specify the data on the admin web page.  Can someone tell me where to find it on the admin web page?

Users / Insteon security question
« on: January 29, 2009, 10:07:42 pm »
I am ready to add some automation and I like the Insteon stuff for several reasons.  I'm looking at the M1 Gold (http://www.smarthome.com/128301I/INSTEON-Compatible-M1-Gold-Kit-Security-and-Automation-System/p.aspx) and I would like to know if it can be controlled by the M1 ethernet port expander (included).  It will likely not be anywhere near my core and so I would like a good way to connect.  I want this to be as close to plug and play as I can get, considering it's my first time.  If I'm heading down the wrong path, someone please let me know.

the driver slowly reaches stability.

You can google for Janne G.'s page to get the latest version of the driver from his mercurial repo if you want to test it out.

Thanks Thom.  If I pony up the cash for this box, how much can I bug you for support?

Users / Re: Slingbox in LMCE?
« on: January 22, 2009, 06:54:06 pm »

We use the SlingBox (component out model) very successfully with installations... no LinuxMCE specific setup at all.

All the best

Andrew

Andrew, how do you get shows from the sling onto the hard drive of your MCE core?

We will support the Hauppauge HD-PVR once the driver becomes more stable.

Any word on support for the HD PVR?  Or maybe slingbox as an alternative?

Installation issues / compatible HD tuner card with non coax source
« on: January 22, 2009, 06:00:50 pm »
I have the newest DirecTV DVR (HR22).  It does not provide coax out.  My options are HDMI, composite or component.  I need a compatible tuner card that will handle input in one of those 3 formats and hopefully handle it well.  Keep in mind that I need to receive audio as well somehow, so a card with just a video RCA in will not be enough unless it also has a separate audio input.

I have combed the compatible list and from what pictures and specs I could find, most cards (even the HD ones) only have coax inputs.
Suggestions?

Installation issues / inbound calls not rining all phones
« on: January 18, 2009, 08:45:15 pm »
where can I check for problems with inbound calls / extensions.  I have several SIP phones configured properly and there are 100% working.  However, a call to the house that rings the whole house does not ring these extensions.  The admin web page / telecom / call routing has them all checked.

Specifically, I need to see the screen of the core/hybrid for troubleshooting call placement and using the dial pad.  SSH, diskless, etc, won't get that done.  Only some sort of screen sharing util.

I must say it does make for some good noob confusion on my part when the guy that makes them tells me I can't do what everyone else here that has one says they are doing.  I ordered one.  Hopefully nothing has changed in the components.

I have noticed that VNC on the Kubuntu side will sometimes reject connections.  What's the recommended way of allowing remote access to a core/hybrid?
