Out of interest what problems are you having? I'm also in NZ.

Hey Kezza

I am using the HDHomeRun DVB-T and the problems I am having is when I go on TV3 it does not decrypt the signal. I have looked at nvidia driver and all but was told that Mythtv 0.22 is not so cool with the H.264 codex. It is working ok on TV1 and TV2 just take about 1min to start displaying the channel. but if you go to TV3 it dies. Then Have to go out of Myth go back in a few time and then TV3 sort of gets better.

Andrew told me to that Myth 0.23 fix a lot of this problem and also has about a 15% increase on the H.264 codex from what I read on Mythtv's release notes..

Are you having any problems?

I just want to find out if LMCE is going to upgrade to MythTV 0.23?
I have been using the defaults on LMCE and it was using avenard repo that was setup when I installed. But as I understand avenard is dropping support for 8.10. Would LMCE still be supporting this?
MythTV 0.23 will fix a lot of tv problems I am having here in NZ.

Users / Re: HDHomeRun DVB-T version....
« on: May 12, 2010, 02:16:47 am » guys in New Zealand have h.264 encoded DVB-T. 0.23 will probably help you as it has better h.264 support built in. MythTV-0.22 is really a pretty crappy version...loads of bugs and internal problems (which is why we've stayed on 0.21 in  Dianemo/Cascade)...however 0.23 is really massively improved and we are transitioning to that version now. I expect that 0810 will do the same pretty soon too.

All the best

Hi Andrew

I have been using avenard repo as I think it was the default when you install LMCE. I just looked on his website that he is dropping the support for 8.10. Is there any other repo I can use for 0.23 to get my testing going as you said there is loads of stuff that would make it better for me on this release. Do you know if LMCE would start adding the myth to its own repo?
I hope there will be good news.. :)

Hi guys,

any updates on HD HomeRun DVB-T under 8.10?
I'm thinking about buying this nice piece of kit for my LinuxMCE setup to get Freeview HD in UK.
Does anyone know if any modifications are needed or would it just work straight from the box with MythTV?

Hi gumis

I have been running this on LMCE810 and Mythtv0.22 for the last 6 months. it works. Not great but it works. The problems I having is that in New Zealand the channels that are broadcast are different so myth and vpdau is finding it hard to switch between the codecs. Like I said it is working if I don;t channel hop. I am sure this will get better with 0.23.
This is a create piece of hardware so I would say buy it.

« on: May 06, 2010, 11:13:29 pm »

I am using FreeNas and I had endless problems with mine.
Every time I try to connect it to LMCE it sort of messed up my setup to a point where my MD's did not want to boot.
So what I did. I know it is not the best but it works. Can't ask for more.
1) I made samba share with no security on the shares on my NAS.
2) I let LMCE pick them up and then set every share as public. yes I know I can have private section on this.
Give LMCE a reboot and wait for the db to be updated and all sweet I have my data on lmce.
Everything is behind a firewall so the security is not that bad, but would change it at some point where I am in the mood to brake everything again.
If that helps.
PLease let me know if you got it setup with security.

Hi guys

Can I move back to 0.21 without reinstalling my system?
I have a problem with my HDHomerun DVB-T that looks like will not get fixed in 0.22
here is the ticket.
Can this be done and if so could someone put a wiki together or point me to some info?

I had the same problem or not really a problem, but when I disconnect my VGA cable and restarted my box the Splash screen shows on the HDMI.
Just unplug the vga from the pc and see if that worked..
it did for me..

Users / Re: HDHomeRun DVB-T in 810?
« on: December 13, 2009, 06:07:43 pm »
Hi Guys

As Andrew said this works fine in 0.21. I had it working with no problem..
I have done a new install with the beta2 DVD witch comes with 0.22 and I have notice when I am trying to scan for channels it kills the backend.
I think this is relating to myth not being as stable, but still looking in to it..
So Josh the HDHomeRun DVB-T works fine with the current script. It would be up to you if you want to move back to 0.21 or wait till we see what is going on with 0.22

Chris, thanks for replying.
Agree with you, BUT -
Rebooting loses the symbolic links.. :o

How come?

Hi Erwin

You losing the symbol links cause your dev directory gets created every time you boot your system..
if you follow this steps from point 4 your will then create a script that will recreate you symbol links every time your system boot.
1. "ls /dev/dvb" this should show you one adapter0 if not then there is something wrong(Not cover here)
    2. now we need to create another adapter. so do the following in /dev/dvb "sudo mkdir adapter1" then we need to create simbol links.
        " mkdir /dev/dvb/adapter1
          " ln /dev/dvb/adapter0/demux1 /dev/dvb/adapter1/demux0
          " ln /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend1 /dev/dvb/adapter1/frontend0
          " ln /dev/dvb/adapter0/net1 /dev/dvb/adapter1/net0
          " ln /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr1 /dev/dvb/adapter1/dvr0
    3.  After this you should be able to select the device in Mythtv
    4. Now to make this perminant we need to create a file in /etc/init.d/ call it what you want.
    5. then copy point 2 in to it and cave it..
    6. Now we need to make it a executable with "chmod +x {FileName}"
    7. Now w need to tell rc to run the script when booting, use this "update-rc.d {filename} defaults"

After you have created the script it will recreate it all after boot and my with keep using the same device when you  set it up..
Hope this helps

« on: November 26, 2009, 08:51:05 pm »

You would need to put in that symbol links..
Then if you go into myth-backend you set it up as any other tv-card but on the DVB you will have 2 devices.. I would think it is 1 and not 0 but try both.
Then you need to setup you channel config and then after that you will point your channel config to your device and scan.
Just follow the steps in myth-backend. go from 1 to 4 I think.
don;t try to skip anything.
Hope this helps
