UPDATE:

Ok So I have enabled my System to be controlled over Network. After a few days of searching I manage to find a few forms that help with my investigation. From what I understand you can use Telnet to communicate with you system just like you will do with RS232. It was suggested to use Hercules SETUP HW to do my test to make sure I get the commands correct. I have successfully connected and send commands to my system.
My question is: how would I go about creating the device template in webmin? And what would I use to send the commands?
Will LMCE make a telnet connection and stay connected? I don't mind just want to make sure I understand the workings..
Please if any one can help me with this, it will be create.
Thanks

Hi Guys

I get my self and Onkyo TX-NR708 Sound System. I love it..
I found the "Control over Network" option and from what I have read it can control the sound system same way as RS232.
I want to try and create a Device template. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I just downloaded the command file from the site so I hope to get LMCE to control the system.
Is there any templates I can look at?
Thanks

Users / USB Capture Card supported by LMCE
« on: August 05, 2010, 04:03:27 am »
Hi Guys

I have finally got my core working like a train on steroids on my ASRock 3300 ION box.
I have my phone line setup and a Web orbiter with the new Web orbiter 2.
thanks a lot for your guys help and hats off to the devs..

I want to ask for some help on getting a device that will one work in LMCE and do what I need it to.
I have a NZ Sky myHDi PVR satellite box that I want to connect to LMCE. http://www.skytv.co.nz/my-sky-hdi.aspx. This box has no RF out puts so makes is hard. I was trying to find info on if I can use my old Slingbox but that is shitt cause we can't get the stream out of it.
I don't need a TV card cause I have my HDhomeRun. So I was more looking for a USB capture card.
Because of the small form of the ASRock I cant install a PCI card, need a USB one.
Can anyone recommend one that will work out of the box with LMCE?
Thanks
C

Hi Andrew

I am playing with this now but for some reason my page does not want to load.
I am have got my old one working and that looks ok. but on my iphone it is not happy..
for some reason it keeps loading. I can see on the top next to my wireless the loading circle keeps coming up.
from what I understand of you post it will only look for changes? Is this what it does?
I am not sure I got this setup correctly but I am sure you tell me if I am wrong..

Phenigma,

thanks for your work.

As far as I understand your script, you remove our internet repo from the sources.list, and add a key to the local deb.

This will indeed make sure,  that no package will be taken from our repo. Unfortunatly, we will still need the internet, for things like sqlCVS update, and the installation of files like the Microsoft truetype fonts.

I will modify the install and do a snapshot probably today, to not include the internet repo.

Hi posde

From what I can make out from the script, it only moves the order of the sources.list. So it look local first before going to the internet.
what we could to is just add a script at the end of the installation to move it back in the order it is now if you are worried that update will not take place.
So it will look locally and install the .deb from local disk then after install it change the source.list back to what it is now and all it good.
I am with Phenigma on this one. Here in NZ we still have to deal with caps from our ISP. So don't want to download a 4 GB iso and then install where the install download it all again just because it does not look locally first for the install files..

I have a task for someone interested in creating programming and implementation detail documentation,

start with documenting the DCERouter.

The source is here: http://svn.linuxmce.org/svn/branches/LinuxMCE-0810/src/DCERouter

there is some start to doxygen metadata in the code, but perhaps we can improve this.

Anyone want to take this on?

Hi Thom

I am not a programmer but how can I help with the documentation?
I will try to have a look at the svc this weekend..
Please let me know.

Users / Re: Issues with VDPAU and OpenGL rendering.
« on: May 29, 2010, 12:26:16 am »
I have been running into a couple issues on my Disk less media director.  I can use VDPAU or OpenGL fine on the first boot, but After a reboot no media will play.  After changing the rendering option on the admin page it starts working again.  This, ofcourse, is a major annoyance.  Has anyone seen this issue before or have any ideas ho it could be fixed?

Hi

I had the same thing on my MD's. When I tell Myth to us vdpau and then let lmce use vdpau then none on my tv channels wanted to play. So I left lmce on auto in the webmin. now all work great.
Don't really know what the auto option does.. all I know it works..
Hope it helps..
