LinuxMCE / Users / Re: mkv no worky after upgrades

seems like I'm having the same issue (I just noticed today)
I have some mkv containers that worked after the libxine1 update and now they don't. I have verified the /etc/apt/preferences and sources.list and did the apt-get updates and upgrade, even dist-upgrade and everything seems to be up-to=date; yet some 1080p mkv containers work and some don't and some of the ones that don't work used to work after the libxine update of 2010-07-27 23202.
some will just freeze... at like 6 seconds into the video...
the log files say a bunch of stuff, but there doesn't seem to be a difference between a mkv that works and one that doesn't. so, the same mkv that used to play, no longer plays. It didn't play before the libxine1 update, then after the update it did ( a few months ago ) and today I noticed it doesn't anymore ( but it could have started a few weeks ago, I started investigating today). I haven't really done anything different; except maybe a update now and then when I started playing with asterisk and then again recently when I realized quite a few newly acquired mkv's were not working; thats when I went back today to test older containers that worked fine and turned out not be working.

I'm betting (hoping) intel graphics will be better supported with 1004 even though nvidia will still be the better choice. I wouldn't count on it with 0810. It should boot using the basic user inteface... but thats about it alot of video stuff would look so great...

I understand that some videos can be streamed or at least played in multple mds using the floorplan (it works for me with dvd rips, but not HD). But what about music is it suppose to be working... I don't get sound... the mds switch and on screen its indicates that there is something suppose to be playing but it only sounds on the originally played md.
is it suppose to work? or is this a work in progress feature?

I wouldn't count on it. It doesn't indicated if it can boot on lan, doesn't specify the video chip. It does say it runs Linux (so maybe all chips and drivers are supported by the kernel); but it looks fishy... says Linux with an IE symbol on the case... It would be awesome if it had a nvidia chip hidden inside and a configureable PC like bios to set PXE compatible booting all for $88...
Its nice to dream...
Try it and let us know....

from what I understand all these problems were fixed; xine was updated/patched and using vdpau with supported nvidia cards ought to play all your mkv contained videos. What I have noticed is that a few of my recently acquired m2ts files play slow and the video looses sync with the sound.
but all my hd mkv videos work great.

LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: Work in Progress: Pandora Player

I have about 8 years experience in linux (http / php / mysql / dns / samba / ldap / openvpn / etc..) and I know a fair amount of php/javascript/c/c++ syntax and programming logic. I know a little about how svn works and I'd really like to start helping / fixing / adding to the project and I'd love to see a pandora player running.
What can I do to start ; any pointers ; any documentation I should start looking at ; any orders you guys would like to give to get me working on this or something else productive?

Any update on this? Seems like valent was really motivated with getting cheap ir blasters working... That would be cool.

I use a htc mogul and have had some success creating a web orbiter and using opera 10 to access it. I'm still working a little on getting to look and feel better. I also tried the touch orbiter someone prepared for the HTC Touch 2 and it seems to work, kinda (lots of freezing and wierd stuff happening...) I'm going to continue testing and post follow ups here...

LinuxMCE / Developers / motion wrapper update/patch
|
on: October 08, 2010, 06:38:10 pm
|
I have a few WinTV (150 and 1600) tuner cards that have variours inputs, so I purchased 3 analog surveillance cameras to connected to those extra ports and use them as security cameras. Everything seemed to go well (creating motion_wrapper, adding generic analog cameras, correctly setting the port (s-video, or RCA)). But then a hit a brick wall which is described here by a different user: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/wintv-pvr-150-and-motion-mmap-unsupported-690274/this is supposed to fix it: http://www.lavrsen.dk/foswiki/bin/view/Motion/MotionWinTVPVRCardSupportIs anyone here familiar enough with motion_wrapper to help/instruct me on how to patch/update the "motion" part of "motion_wrapper". I think an update to it would probably add some more devices to the ever expanding list of LinuxMCE compatible devices (am I correct in asuming analog video cameras cannot be added using a capture card without it being compatible with motion_wrapper??) and I have a nice bit of programming knowledge to I'm sure I could help a bit. I just need some pointers / advices / help from someone that KNOWS how this works. Thanks.

Yea, I don't know what kinda health problems you've have, but it would seem your getting better. Hope it keeps getting better and like RayBe said Thanks for all your hard work.
I'd like to say that I recently purchase a Nyko (generic) wii remote and a generic (wireless / battery powered) sensor bar for the remote (at sams club it totalled to about $38). Going through the wiki instructions it work perfectly! I have it configured on one md and if you need to use me for any testing purposes with the new driver I am at your disposal.
