46  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Cameras under motion wrapper question - images not being recorded properly on: April 28, 2011, 07:18:07 pm
from what I understand motion tries to detect "fake" motion so if these cameras are in an area where wind moves trees alot then motion will try to ignore that and record only what it considers real motion.

It doesn't do that detection stuff very good for me and my outside camera rarely records actual motion. I've played with the settings quite a bit to increase the sensebility with some improvements.
47  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Mini ITX package's for mds on: April 28, 2011, 07:04:30 pm
From what I understand there will be better intel video support with 1004; but my expierence with intel video in 0810 was not good. The md installs and ui1 works good; but ui2 does not and no hardward excelleration means most videos look crappy.

Maybe with 1004 X will better support the newer intel drivers, but for now I would agree with other posters that ION is the best way to go (even if intel is better supported in 1004 I'd still go with ION); it'll be worth the money

Well, I only have one web orbiter setup; and when I start up roamingorb on the ipod it connects and displays the interface.  That should mean the port/address is correct, right?
50  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: RoamingOrb 1.01 available now from the Apple iTunes App Store - Free Download on: April 04, 2011, 01:40:18 am
I'm not sure if I set something up incorrectly (I was a little tired) but i tried setting up roaming orbiter lastnight and everything looked great... I got the orbiter connected and I could see that main screen; but I couldn't actually click on anything... I would tough the screen and the loading logo would show for a second then it would disappear but nothing else wold happen... I did notice that sometimes when I'd touch the screen the floorplan would show up or the change room menu... but then I couldn't click on anything...

am I missing some setting?  I was almost like the screen wasn't calibrated...

am I correct in assuming that padOrbiter V2 is not for the webDts... right?
52  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: WebDT on: March 19, 2011, 04:14:54 pm
I usually have mine tethered, but sometimes when watching a movie I leave it unplugged and it lasts the whole movie... so I would say mine lasts anywhere from 30-120 mins...

not sure if I'm the only one but the link did not exactly work... I took me to the upload site; but after waiting the 60 seconds to download; I got "Page cannot be displayed".  I really want to apply this to see if it fixes some playback issues I have, but I can't download it...

it would seem the three analog cameras don't have a "custom event handler" I'm not sure what that means.... but I did follow these directions very carefully: http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Monitor_surveillance_cameras

any suggestions?

any news on this?
59  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Probem with camera device from orbiters on: February 12, 2011, 04:13:05 am
well, I'm not exactly sure what its suppose to say in the scenario editor in webadmin but i have to select "Edit scenario using wizard:  Advanced Wizard" and that indicates PK_screen: 15 and PK_device: <correct camera device id>

so i guess its ok, and again in the web admin "securty - cameras" it lists the cameras but then just show a broken link (file) where the camera image should be...

but in /home/cameras/<deviceid>/2011/2/11/<recording, snapshots, etc>  i have the correct data...

is this a bug, known issue, or I misconfigured something?
60  LinuxMCE / Users / Probem with camera device from orbiters on: February 11, 2011, 02:29:17 pm
I don't know if I missed something, but I reinstalled the core using the latest snapshot this weekend and worked fairly well (I will update the wiki and check the tickets as Saturday night).  I'm having a small issue I didn't have before and thate security camera setup...

Motion records perfectly and has all the folders setup correct (had to fix the permissions inside /home/cameras/) but it is saving the latest shots, recordings, timelapse, etc.  These are analog cameras using a bluecherry capture card.

So, everythings cool; but when I click on the device using the padorbiter or any on-screen orbiter (including webadmin).  I don't get a picture.  according to syslog motion seems to start up fine; I can even see a picture if I access "http://dcerouter:<motion created port>"

Is this this a known issue with the lastest snapshot or am I missing something...
