I'm sure I am one of the many that have benefited from the work Andrew has put into these forums and the lmce; So I'm curious as to what happened here...  Any news or updates?

I use a Roku XD and it works great (well I'm fixing the remote a little using a newer protocol for conection instead of the old telnet) but as it is it works great.  as with any video device connected it has a delay from when you click the remote button and it actually happens, but again it serves its purpose very nicely. and since mines connected via svideo the quality isnt great.... but it works good.

Users / Re: another hdmi audio issue?
« on: September 13, 2011, 02:49:59 am »
FYI: Got hdmi working by doing this (after trying everything else in the wiki/forums):

First I updated alsa using this method: http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,11932.0.html
and installed nvidia update

Then I followed the HDMI Output Does Not Work instructions on: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Advanced_Linux_Sound_Architecture#HDMI_Output_Does_Not_Work to find my card number and device number

Then i wrote those numbers down and created the ~/.asoundrc file in /root and /home/<kubuntu user directory>

Then I edited /etc/pluto/xine.conf and set:

audio.driver:alsa
audio.alsa_front_device:plughw:1,9 (1 being your card number and 9 being the device number you found with aplay)

Hope this helps someone.

help... hdmi still not working... alsamixer shows "Nvidia GPU 0b HDMI/DP", but not as default i have to hit F6 to see that card and everything is unmuted... Ive installed the lastest nvidia drivers.

Shouldnt alsamixer show HDA NVidia first instead of HDA Intel?

Users / [SOLVED] another hdmi audio issue?
« on: September 06, 2011, 05:15:11 am »
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Audio_over_HDMI

refers to: All of them should be unmuted. Press 'm' to unmute, and the right and left arrows to navigate. Then select 'HDA NVidia NVIDIA HDMI (ALSA)' as output for all items in 'Sound Prefrences' and select 'HDA NVidia (Alsa mixer)' as the mixer.

whats 'Sound Prefrences'?

heres the results of aplay -l

root@moon122:~# aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****

awesome, thanks for the replies.  I noticed today that on boot there is a line that says "mounting local filesystem"  failed.  but the core boots.... and the local filesystem is there and writable.  I also noticed none of my orbiters (webdt) boot completely (obiter screen never connects to the core) and just today the orbiter screen ui1 (on the core) stops loading at 98% ( this one is new to today).

I'm going to try fschk on the cores filesystem (that should work with "touch /forcecheck"), right?

well, I have upgrade after the fact ( to see that it would help ) and I upgraded about a week before it happened.  I have not yet tried another swtich (because other clients are working great) including a few netflix players I have.

I got home today from work and all three of my Media Directors are giving the same error messages at boot.

They get their initial address via dhcpand start loading their respective initrd.img

then it says "Loading, please wait..."

then we see all the nice ip info followed by: filename : /tftpboot/pxelinux.0

then immediately followed by "connect: Connection refused"

at the end it says:

mount: mounting /dev on /root/dev failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /proc on /root/proc failed: No such file or directory
Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init.
No init found. Try passing init= bootrag

..............

The core seems to be working fine... I've rebooted it and it boots fine.

Please help I've been running this system for about a year and its worked great.  I'm just beginning to really understand how this system works, but I just dont understand whats going on here...

Thanks.
